Poor1. Cost- Bid requested OSB board be placed behind brick that was removed prior to stucco placement. Estimator said it would be taken care. Then was told the OSB wasn't covered in the bid when it was discovered that only insulation board was behind the brick. I asked that we split the cost; I would pay for the materials. They said ok. When I asked what the cost was after they took care of installing the OSB the owner said $300. I asked for a receipt and the materials cost was $158.
    2. Clean up- ridiculous. Did not use a dumpster when doing the demo. Dumped all the materials in a gravel driveway. Did not properly clean the driveway up. I spent 30+ hours removing chunks of mortar, brick, leftover sand, gravel and screws and nails so we could reuse the driveway.
    3. Brick- the actual brick work was ok. However, they did not clean the mortar off the face of the brick immediately after it was laid. I requested they clean it. They come out twice used muriatic acid to attempt to clean it which discolored the bricks. I ended up spending another 30+ hours cleaning the bricks with a wire brush and water to scrap the mortar of the face of EVERY brick.
    4. Finish work. The crew pulled off caulking around windows and doors and the owner didn't understand why he should have to replace the caulking. I ended up recaulking all the areas myself.
    5. Finally, I had an accident with my brand new car and one of their trucks. The truck was parked in the driveway with the driver door wide open and no one near the truck. The door was over in the other lane of the driveway and I ended up backing into it because it was in my blind spot. When I asked them to split the cost they told me I could submit it to their auto insurance but I should have been watching where I was going. That cost me almost $1100 to repair.
    6. The project was suppose to take 2-3 weeks and it took almost 2 1/2 months for them to complete it.
I have used many contractors over the years; but this company had the worst customer service ever.

I had Robert Davey of Denver Custom Plastering remove all of my EFIS and replace it with hard coat.  My entire house was EFIS, hence the higher price (and I did get 3 other bids).  We began at the end of June and I had a separate contractor at the site each day to look at the damaged wood etc that was revealed after the EFIS was removed.  Because of the perfection I wanted of the basic structure, which I had my carpenter do, it took about 5 months to complete the job.  Robert did not complain at all (it would normally take a month to do this).

I thought he was amazingly easy to deal with.  He had his scaffolding and materials at my site while we corrected numerous underlying issues.  In addition, the few items that he damaged he immediately took responsibility for.  Like a couple of trampled yard lights, some potted plants they disconnected from the drip watering system and a small amount of electrical work (where a nail goes through a wire).  He covered all of these with no complaint.  And he did not try to increase the price.

The ease of dealing with Robert is of great value to me.  He didn't underbid, which I appreciate, but he also didn't try to increase it despite the numerous issues we found.  My experience is that when he gives you a price, that's it.  No surprises.

I would definitely do business with him again.

    Mr Chimney & Home Masonry
Chuck came to our home and walked around the exterior and explained what needed to be done and gave me a bid. I also needed some stucco repair done which he told me he didn't do -- which I appreciated -- because I had another man give me a bid who told me he doesn't ordinarily do stucco, but could do it, and put that in his bid. I didn't want someone to practice his stucco skills on my house, so I did not select him. Of the three bids I got, Chuck's was mid range, but from the way he described the work, he seemed to be the most professional. He matched the mortar color exactly and did an excellent job. Gave me a ten year warranty on his work.

They pretty much did what they said they would and I was happy with their work. I had a couple of deals with them. They had their side and I had mine but overall I was happy.
