Asphalt Paving reviews in Golden

    HOLLAND HURST
A day or two after the driveway was paved. Rocks and sticks started to push up through the pavement. I took a drill to some of them, and found the pavement to be less than 1" thick in spots. They charged me $2000 more than the bid, to make it thicker, but didn't. They came out to look at it, and said they'd patch the areas. The patches look horrible, and I know it's all too thin. I want them to tear it up and redo it all. But they haven't.

I obtained 3 quotes to pave my 2000 sq ft driveway...ranging from $4000 to $6500 to $8400 for the same 3and quot; of asphalt. The two higher quotes were from large well established and highly rated companies.........but after meeting Shane decided to give him a shot at the job. Shane has a small company but has 23 years experience and did the grading himself and the paving with a small efficient crew including his son.
His price was lowest and his work was excellant. Shane has a sense of humor, is fun to work with. I would recommend Asphalt Artistry and hire him again.
It rained last night so I was able to see that there were no low spots to collect water and the whole driveway drained nicely. The pavement edges and the radiuses are precise. It really is a work of art! There is a place in this review to provide photographs but I couldn't get it to work...sorry because the driveway looks amazing.

It took 4 calls to the business and several months for Shane to finally call me back to schedule an estimate. It took me calling twice more to say that I wanted them to pave my driveway after getting the estimate, before he called to schedule a date which was in late October. I knew that was too late for my elevation, but thought he knew what he was doing and didn't want to question him, big mistake!!! Of course, it snowed the week before he was supposed to pave my driveway and he messaged to say he would have to schedule the driveway for the following spring. Don't use this guy unless you want to be frustrated and waste time calling him repeatedly just to get a return call. I found him to be very undependable.

My experience with Asphalt Artistry was great from the onset of the project through completion. During the estimate process Shane was very honest and helpful. His estimate was straightforward and done on the spot. Shane was very patient with my decision making process as the job was a large job and a big decision. After making the decision to proceed with the project and Asphalt Artistry, Shane provided a timeline for when the project would begin and how long it would take; the timeline stuck. While on-site Shane and his team were professional, attentive to their surroundings, and incredibly thorough/detail oriented in their work. When the job was complete the driveway looked fantastic. The team left the job site clean and all that remained behind was a new ribbon of asphalt. I highly recommend Shane and his team at Asphalt Artistry without any reservations.

I found them through word of mouth. They are very professional, showed up on time and did a good job.  I feel comfortable recommending them.  The price was competitive; I took bids on it.  The quality of their work was excellent.

    Ess Schneider Inc
ESS Schneider repaired the cracks in my driveway and then seal-coated it. They first came by and gave me an estimate and then arrived on the date and at the time promised. It was by far one of the most pleasurable experiences I have had from any service provider. This is a family owned and operated business.  Three of the family member arrived on the day of the service to greet me. They went over the details of the job, answered my questions, and then when to work with a team of workers getting the job done. Everything from the condition and quantity of their equipment to the attitude and professionalism of the entire staff was perfect. The job was done with meticulous attention to detail from the cleaning of the driveway to the hot tar crack repair and hand applied, extra thick sealcoating. I've had the driveway sealed before so I have a direct comparison and ESS Schneider is by far the best at what they do for a very fair and reasonable price. I cannot recommend them any more highly.

    FALLS CHURCH PAVING CO
This was an entirely disappointing experience. The gravel was put down immediately after the repairs when it should have been done the last thing. They wanted to seal that same day, which I refused because I had been told that the asphalt needed to "cure" before sealing. The owner was argumentative about the need to come back. I also told him I thought the gravel needed to be pulled away from the new asphalt so it could cure well and be properly covered by the sealant. Argumentative again, and I ended up moving the gravel myself. When they put down the sealant, they asked for full payment, and I pointed out they needed to bring alot more gravel and line the whole driveway. The owner threw a fit, saying they already did the gravelling. When told the estimate was for doing the whole driveway and that I would pay him for only the cost of the gravel originally brought if he would give me the receipt for it, he said he didn't have a receipt and didn't know what they paid for it and he expected the entire amount. I eventually mailed him a check for about half of the amount in the estimate attributed to the graveling, although I believe that was too much, especially since I had to do the labor moving it away from the asphalt and then back, and only a small portion of the driveway is now protected by gravel support. In addition, now about 5 or 6 months later, several areas that they "repaired" are also disintigrating.

    ENRIGHT ASPHALT CO
Among all the companies I called, this one was by far the most responsive. They listened carefully to exactly what I wanted to accomplish, worked with me to save money, and did the work promptly and very professionally. I would definitely use this company again. The asphalt prices are going up weekly and they told me about this, in the end cost me 15% more by not signing earlier, but this was fair in my view. The other companies that did not return calls etc, were really the ones at fault while I was waiting. In the end I only had two estimates in spite of calling many people on Angie's List!

    Pat's Paving
When the work was finished, it looked OK, but the invoice was for $14,250! I paid it and probably would have let it go but before 2 weeks passed the work began to deteriorate. There are now many tire indentations, chunks breaking away, substantial material crumbling and brushing away off the top, and rainwater now flows into the garage after a hard rain due to improper grading. There is also less than the 3" of new material as promised. John Sr. did come by a month after I reported the problems and said it would be fixed or redone as needed. I called again 2 months later and talked with John Jr. He said he would be by within a week. It is now 3 weeks later and nobody from Mesker Paving has called or come by. It has been more than 3 months since the work was done on May 11, 2007, and the driveway continues to deteriorate and the garage continues to flood.
