Northstar Dental (formerly Plous and Adler Family Dentistry)
Easily the most pleasant dental experience I've had. Dr. Adler and the team at Northstar were friendly, helpful, and extremely communicative. I didn't feel like I was being rushed through as just another insurance claim number.

Truth be told... I hadn't been to a dentist in over two decades... yes, twenty years. I had bad experiences when I was a child and if I hadn't chipped a tooth (while I knew I should) I probably wouldn't have gone to a dentist for another twenty years. The Dr. and his staff all made sure I was comfortable and he spoke to me for a little bit before doing anything (I'm sure an attempt to get me to relax). It was nice not to be rushed and treated like a number. Exams were performed and my chipped tooth repaired in a very comfortable, professional manner. He even gave me a discount on the repair. Also, turns out I lucked out without having any big dental issues. :)

    Timothy J Wachuta, DDS
The woman behind the desk seems to never have any time to explain my bill (which is always combining my husbands charges with mine.) When I ask for clarification on charges, etc. eyes are rolled and deep sighs punctuate her attempts to locate an explanation on the computer for me. At best, her manner was that of 'restrained' rudeness. I was never able to get a satisfactory reason for some of the charges. My husband also received a estimate for 3 cavities and a crown... which came to around $950. When the work was completed for that day and he was about to leave, the receptionist entered the cubical and said she was wrong and that his charges would actually be $1400. Not good. We understand my husband had changed to a better plan, but all that meant was this dentist was charging a lot more for each procedure than he would have charged under the old plan. Not sure if dentists do this but it doesn't seem right. In any case, it showed ineptitude on the part of the receptionist. My husband would not have had most of the procedures they did that day if he had known.

    Gill, Dr. Nancy E.
I have used Dr. Nancy Gill as my primary dentist for more than five years. For the previous five years I had tried 3-5 different dentists in the Golden area, all with poor results. Nancy Gill was the first one to clean my teeth in a way that did not cause me to break out with a fever blister afterward. She has been consistently very good. I have recommended her to one of my daughters and her four children, and to friends and associates, all of whom have been very satisfied. Her office has recently expanded, and all the dentists and dental care workers in her office are of the highest quality. Really competent.

    Thomas Kilroy DDS

My husband was a patient of Dr Kilroy for over 20 years. Dr Kilroy did a root canal on one of my husband's molars and left a tiny instrument in the root of the tooth. My husband saw Dr Kilroy several times about pain in the tooth and was never told about the instrument that was left in his mouth after the procedure which eventually caused him to lose his tooth requiring a $5000 implant. He discovered the instrument when the tooth was inflamed with infection on a business trip to Chicago and saw a dentist in Chicago. It was clearly visible on the X-ray. It also became clear to my husband that Dr. Kilroy hid this from him during the 2 office visits (which we were billed) for the pain associated with this same tooth. According to the dentists we consulted, this does happen but the ethical thing for the dentist to do is own up to their mistake. It also would have been helpful to have the money we paid associated with this tooth for the root canal, crown and follow up visits ( about $4000) credited as well as have Dr. Kilroy pay for the implant. Instead Dr. Kilroy had the nerve to send us to collections for a $300 balance, which I was disputing due to finding out about his deceit. Needless to say we have changed dentists and will never return and would advise anyone to be very careful with this dentist who is clearly more concerned with profits than quality care. I have to say his work is very expensive.

.I would not recommend the dentist for any crowns or caps. The crowns they put in fell out and I had to go see another dentist to fix it. But for general check ups they are ok but not with crowns. They accepted me as a new patient as soon as I needed assistance. I had to keep replacing the crowns he kept putting in.

    Arvada Modern Dentistry
This is a difficult review to write.  First, the positives:
I really like my dentist at Arvada Modern Dentistry.  She (and the woman who did my cleaning) did a great job, very thorough, very quick, mostly painless.  My crown fits well and was done very quickly.  It's a nice, clean office with a nice and efficient staff.  Highly recommended.
    Then, the negatives:
All their specialists (orthodontists, endodontists, etc) are contractors and are usually only in that specific office once a week.  This makes scheduling nearly impossible.  My daughter had an expander put in and must get further orthodontic work.  It was very difficult to get a convenient appointment initially.  Now (after we prepaid for the first part of her treatment), her orthodontist has been reassigned to another location where there is more demand and we'll have to travel significant distance for her new appointments.  The orthodontist is at these new locations only once or twice a week, also.  She has ONE appointment available in the middle of a school day for the next month and a half.
I had the same issue with some oral surgery I needed to get done on an old root canal that had failed.  It was nearly impossible to get a convenient appointment and I would have had to go to another, farther location.  I'm opting to look for another dentist with permanent staff.
So, for regular dentistry, I'd rate them an A+.  For all else, C- at best.

They've done numerous crowns and other dental work for me over the years, and I'd highly recommend them.  Their staff is great, they both do top-notch work, and it's easy to schedule appointments with the office.  Furthermore, it's difficult to forget an appointment because they communicate in advance by email and phone to remind you.

    Bailey, Dr. Michael L.
Excellent as always! Our family has been using Dr. Bailey since we moved here last year, and we have been more than pleased with the professionalism and friendliness of him and his entire staff. Unfortunately, our former dentist in another state had not done as thorough of a job as necessary, so we spent a LOT of time in Dr. Bailey's office for about 2 months. We were always able to get an appointment that was convenient for us and the staff worked with us to make sure that we stayed on track to maximize the effectiveness of the treatments. The communication here is outstanding - Dr. Bailey explains everything before he does it, and the team members are great about keeping us informed as to what is going on medically, with the billing, and with coordinating with the insurance company. This team of professionals makes going to the dentist as pleasant an experience as possible!

Have you ever had a shot at the dentist's that didn't hurt at all?  A staff that that made you feel very welcome?  Many forms of comfort (pillows, tv, bottled water).  Not only that, but communication is very clear, done with a color monitor.  That has been my experience with Plous and Adler Family Dentistry.            - Diane
