Brandon's crew did a tremendous job of shoring up our older deck (21 year old). They removed and replaced several joists, removed an old staircase from the upper deck to the mid deck and build a replacement railing on the upper deck. Lastly the crew removed a portion of the lower deck and installed new foundations and a four supporting structure to support the weight of the hot tub. The work crew was amazing to watch as they were very professional, safety conscious and their work was top shelf. The even did a great job of cleaning up post work. I could not be more pleased with the results of the work.

Looked great at first, but exposed areas starting bleaching out within 6 months. In fairness to the contractor he did refinish the decks at his expense in the summer of 2016. However, again within 6 months the exposed areas were bleached nearly white. When we contacted him about the failure of the stain in spring of 2017 he offered to redo it for $700 this year. We made an initial $4000 investment in the summer of 2015 with a statement from the contractor that we could expect at least 3 years from the finish. He thinks if the wood is not absorbing water that everything is fine. We feel we could expect it to be aesthetically pleasing for far more than a few months. I am pleased I can post pictures to this review as they will be worth far more than the words of my review.

Had a back deck and a front porch installed by DS Deckworks. While the work was fast and the price competitive, the workmanship was really quite poor. Improper tool use resulted in 70-80% of screws being sheared off on the railings. Replacement screws, installed the same way, months later sheared as well. It is apparent the breaks happened at installation. The response to this problem was to pass blame on to the screw manufacturer and offer no real resolution.

In addition, while the deck was and quot;finishedand quot; the wood was not treated in any fashion, and I've needed to take the deck apart to properly stain/protect the wood.

Some deck boards (Fiberon) were not secured all the way, and instead of properly redoing the clips they just drove screws in through the top (which I'm sure are also sheared). The bummer is, that sort of ruins the nice feature of Fiberon as a and quot;screwlessand quot; finish deck. Boards are still uneven in a few places, but I don't really want to put more screws into the top.

Railings were not secured and became extremely loose and required constant re-tightening. They did come out and put more screws in...but again...I'd bet they are sheared.

A faucet access panel was hastily put in, at a square to the diagonal flow to the deck. Upon fixing this, the Fiberon boards used are a different color.

To summarize, when everything was and quot;finishedand quot; there was/is lots of staining to do, most of the screws to replace, more holes in the railings than originally intended, screws in the deck itself, and a strip of lighter boards in the middle of the deck. If you need a deck and aren't worried about putting in another $500+ in labor, tools, and materials to finish things up yourself...well, go for it.

It is also very unprofessional that when all this issues are brought up, especially the hardware shearing, the response is and quot;stuff happensand quot;. The blame is on a bad batch of screws, though screws installed 7 months apart have sheared. This means either every deck in the last 7 months has been using a bad batch, or the install was the problem. Either way, it isn't good and definitely merits more than a and quot;stuff happensand quot; response. In the process of taking apart to stain and reassembly, I've sheared off exactly zero screws.

Also, apparently the warranty (which really doesn't appear to be worth much anyways) is void if you disassemble part of the deck. In order to complete the deck, I had to void the warranty. When you pay 10k for a deck, the expectation is that it is finished. Having railings, posts, and composite decking all installed...then being told that staining/finish was on us...I was pretty shocked and disappointed.

The bummer is that DS Deckworks is a bunch of real nice guys, its just such a shame the workmanship doesn't match.

Aaron and Justin were very professional and specific about the work that would be done and Jaime, the painter was extremely professional and detail oriented. Great! Showed up on time, worked very hard with minimal disturbance to me (I work from home). Came back promptly to clean up a few paint splatters on the windows. Absolutely perfect! Looks like this is a job that will last.

    Sheppard's Total Exteriors

It started with the initial estimate to replace a rotting 8" post for our deck railing. As with most home projects, the work expanded tremendously after we started looking into the details. It turned out that our deck had never been built properly and was probably close to collapsing with any kind of serious load.

They sub-contracted to Hammer Time!, for the actual construction. This guy was fantastic. Once he started working on it, he was extremely efficient and professional. In the end, he had to sink three new concrete support posts and a long support beam below the deck surface. This was extremely hard work since we live in the mountains with very rocky soil and we obviously wanted to keep the existing deck structure. They saved our deck from collapsing helped us solidify it for the next 6-10 years.

Although it was not a cheap project, I would highly recommend Sheppard's and Hammer Time!. They were both very customer-focused and professional.

Not professional, when they showed up, they had no ladder to get to one deck, even though the salesman viewed the site, and they were told this was mandatory. They wound up having to come thru the house. One deck had areas not properly covered, owner committed to redo, never saw or heard from them again. Called twice- no response, even though I was told they would correct the issue. This appears to be a collection of subs, not a real company that stands behind what it does, based on my experience.

    Your Denver Metro Construction
Lucy provided estimates, signed contracts, and completed all the work in one week. It was amazing! The new stamped-concrete patio and sidewalk are beautiful; we couldn't be happier. Our deck is larger and has a whole new look - it looks like a brand new deck! Lucy's crew got all the work done in four days, and kept us informed every step of the way. I would highly recommend her company for any home projects you are considering.

    Decktec Outdoor Design, Inc.
We had used Decktec Outdoor Design, Inc. before, my husband won't use them again. He felt like the product they've used wasn't that great and the color didn't last, the stain kind of came off and about staining the top of the Charlotte's and that's supposed to be done, it was an ordeal. I don't know the conversation that Barry had with the ... guys, I mean they came back, they got resolved, that Barry's like nowhere we're using them again. We've used them actually for a couple of years. We just felt like the product wasn't as good and response wasn't as good and it was an argument and last year our deck was like $2300 or $2400, I mean it's an expensive proposition to maintain that back so we won't use them again.

    Stellar Painting & Remodeling
They're extremely professional, the man who owns the company is really a good guy, you call him on a cellphone, he answers, he e-mails right back. My husband specifically asked if we could get like his best crew 'cause it's a big job and we said we'd be flexible about how long we'd wait to get that really good crew, the crew that was here was fabulous, they're meticulous, they'd busted their butts quite frankly, they did an excellent job, our deck was gorgeous. I would highly recommend them. My husband was the one that met with all the different people and he just said, he knew the minute he met the guys that it was the right one, hired them on the spot and it was just a very positive experience, we'll absolutely use them again. It probably took them 2 days to sand the deck and then they took all the furniture off and they came back, put all the furniture back on and we're having a party and they made sure they could get here to get that all done before we had the party and hang up all the roller shades again, I can't say enough nice things about them. They're very professional, very punctual, very willing to work with people who's price was actually really good for all the work they did. It was just a really good experience.
