    Karen Cleans Green
Karen stopped by for a quick consultation last week. Friday, I walked into a sparkling house -- no cobwebs, dust-free, clean & sparking floors, etc. Everything looked so good I teared-up a bit! Karen spent nearly 6 hours on the first clean and we have already scheduled her to come back in February.

    ALOHA DETAILING
I purchased a coupon deal for a mobile auto detailing for one of my vehicles. This was to be their basic $150.00 basic detail package for $77.00. It was to include: Hand wash of the exterior, vacuum and wipe down the interior, shampoo carpets and fabric, cleaning of interior and exterior windows and waxing of exterior. Two young men arrived a little ahead of schedule, one of which I thought was the owner but I didn't confirmand he didn't offer but spoke as if he was and called in advance to confirm first the schedule time and later for availability to come earlier, they were very polite and personable. We discussed the details of the job for which I was very surprised to learn that the only water they would use was to wash the floor mats and everything else was done with "green chemicals". I was skeptical of the outcome at that point but was assured it would be fine. We discussed some of the stains on the carpet that probably would not come out but definitely lighten considerably. At that point, I asked if there was a possibility to put a coat of wax ( they convinced me I needed paint sealant not wax) on the exterior of my new 2013 vehicle with about 1200 miles and freshly washed. They said they would see after the older vehicle was completed if there would be time. I asked for the price and they quoted $65-75.00 and indicated I could pay in cash -- big mistake! It was a bright sunny day so they did all the work in my garage. I noticed that instead of concentrating on the older vehicle first, they split up and worked on both vehicles at the same time. They were finished a half hour prior to the limit they had set for one vehicle which should have been a clue for me but I was distracted with some other issues and missed it. I went out and gave a cursory inspection to both cars in the garage and asked for the cost of the paint sealing, surprise, surprise it was $75.00. To make matters worse I paid them the $75 and gave them a nice tip based on the new total of $152.00. Later when I had time to pull the older vehicle out of the garage and inspect it in the light, my anticipated delight turned into disappointment. The interior was the worse, trash left behind, spots completely missed on the dash, the carpet was almost the same as it was when they started except for the removal of loose dirt, leather seats with coffee stains and grime still on, dash with coffee stains, dust and evidence of a very light wiping, tech screens not touched and windows done in spots. The exterior was basically clean and somewhat shinny but there was no elbow grease used on stains or abrasions, many lumps of dirt stuck to the paint and spots missed all together. My new vehicle was smooth to the touch and of course shinny but it dawned on me that they never asked for the key to unlock the doors so there was no wraparound paint sealing or cleaning of overspray that went into the door jams. They advertise a multiple car discount for which I got multiple car additional charge only. I called and left a message regarding my displeasure and got a return message that was very lengthly and full of excuses. A little later I got a call from the owner who said he was in the area and wanted to stop by and inspect the car. He did so and took pictures even though it was getting dark at that point. He apologized and agreed with me that the quality of the job was unacceptable. I don't think he was aware of the extra work or that I paid in cash. He also did not comment on it, very professional on his part. He said he would make it right and I would be hearing from him later in the week, I have not. I don't know if it's the 49% savings on the basic deal that lead to the poor quality or the opportunity to grab some quick cash the did it but this was a very bad experience for me and not worth what I paid in either case. I'm not even sure what's in the squirt bottles that use or if I even got paint sealant. I should have stuck with a hand wash and coat of wax from the dealer for $65.00, I didn't even get the wash. I honestly believe any traditional detailing that uses water, soap and shampoo will produce results that far surpass this process. While I did a stupid thing in offering cash for additional work to someone who I thought was the owner of the business, it doesn't make what they did acceptable, right or professional. In fact exactly opposite! I will revisit this review if the owner makes good on his promise to make it right.

    Stone Unlimited
We have two travertine stone sinks in our recently-remodelled bathroom.  I left a mixture of vinegar and water in one of the sinks overnight, and this discolored the stone and removed its smooth finish.  The vinegar etched the surface of the stone, leaving it rough and discolored.

I called John Miller at Stone Unlimited, who gave me an estimate for the work over the phone and said he could come as soon as the next day.  John arrived on time and spent two hours hand-polishing and re-sealing the sink.

When he was done, the sink looked good as new and it again matches the second sink in our bathroom.  John also used a special epoxy to fill a tiny crack I had noticed in our stone countertop.  It was apparent from talking at some length with John that, although he is a young man, he is highly experienced in working with stone and tile repairs.  He told us he had several years of experience supervising stone installation crews for a large stone fabricator prior to going out on his own over four years ago.

We were very impressed with John and the quality of his work.  We will definitely call him again whenever we might need repairs to our stone countertops, sinks or tiles.
