    Sundog Electric
Because of the duct work and impossible angle of the attic space above the ceiling, Adrian the electrician had to spend about double the time allotted to make it happen. He did it and it wasn't easy. Great can-do attitude.

    Electri-Serve Corporation
Brandon started to try to locate the wire that the sprinkler service had cut.  He didn't have the tool to find the cut wire, so he called another guy to come over.  The next guy came and he didn't have the tool either.  So they called a third guy and started digging up the yard.  At this point, we asked, how much is this going to cost -- because I was worried they were going to charge me for all of their time?  Brandon said $200-$300, so that seemed reasonable.  I said, "if it is more than that to find the cut wire, I don't want you to do it because I have a solar light I already bought and could install instead."

While they were waiting for the third guy, Brandon started the second part of the job, which was to replace the ceiling fan.  Since he had a cast on his foot and it meant going in the crawl space, he called another guy to come over (an apprentice, I guess).  So now 4 guys are doing the job that one guy should do.  I had already bought the replacement ceiling fan and all they had to do was install it.  They did that in about 1 hour.

In the meantime, the fourth guy shows up with the right tool to find the cut wire, the 3-4 of them find the wire and then they don't have the right part to fix the cut wire.  They said they'll have to come back next week with the right part -- and apparently another trip charge.  I had to miss another day of work and meet them at my house to fix the part.  I don't understand why they don't bring what they need to the job?

Brandon also replaced a $20 switch on my electrical panel.  So all in all, I thought this bill should be around $500 at most.  Instead, I received a bill for $1066, with 6.5 journeyman hours, 3 apprentice hours, 2 trip charges, and $176.65 in material.  (I had bought the ceiling fan and so all they had to fix was a cut in the wire so I am not sure how it was $176 in material).

When I got the invoice, I of course then called them and said, I think there has been a mix up.  I talked to Jeff Metzler and he said he would need to talk to Brandon but Brandon was on vacation.  I never heard back so I called back.  I never heard back again.  And so I have now called 4 times.  They are now sending me a past due notice so I am in a predicament of probably having to pay this outrageous bill or ruin my credit.  I don't mind paying $500 or even $600 but it seems outrageous to charge $1066 for installing a ceiling fan and fixing a cut wire in the yard -- and to not even call me back.   I strongly recommend you not use them.  I am really disappointed because I know they get all As on Angie's list and that is why I used them.

    Hardesty Electric
I signed up for the big deal with Hardesty and the deal stated I would be contacted by the service provider. Several days later I contacted the service provider and left a message for a return call after the very unprofessional voicemail greeting. When my call was returned I was told that the big deal was no longer active, I would have to call Angie's List to receive a refund, but he would come out and give me a quote. I did not use this service provider after his angry response that Angie's List was at fault and the abrupt way he handled my phone call.

    Tom's Handyman Service
Tom did an estimate for me for my remodelling of my new home a day after I contacted him. His price was very fair..He did a partial remodel of 2 bathrooms(vanities, electrical, tiling, plumbing),fixed livingroom ceiling pre-painting. However the previous owners of my house had neglected it a bit, and Tom has a great attention to detail, so we fixed things that came up.(skylights needed  resurfacing inside and caulking on the outside,,repairing drywall, plumbing,),He worked in concert with my painter, and fixed everything I asked him to do..It took a little longer than I expected, but the painter and he had to coordinate. I am very satisfied with the job he did  .He went way beyond what I was expecting he'd do. I would use him again in a heartbeat.I got more than my money's worth. He has a great knowledge of everything in remodelling, and 20 years experience as a contractor, that's why I chose him on Angie's List. Tom is .A+++!

    MZ Electric
I was very happy with my experience with the MZ Electric people.
I talked to Keith on the phone to discuss what might be needed, and he gave the information to Kevin who came out to do the work.
He brought all the necessary parts with him.
    Everything is working well now.
He was patient in explaining what was needed and why, and in answering any questions I had.
We also looked at what might be involved in doing some additional (optional) work in the future.

They are very nice and friendly and make you feel wonderful about the service that they are providing.....until you receive the bill. They charge 3 to 4 times the amount that other companies do in the area.

    Affiliated Construction Services, Inc.
The contractor did an exceptional job throughout the entire project and was a pleasure to work with. He got us the proposal for the work back in a reasonable time and made all the necessary changes we requested. He started the project on time and kept us informed of the schedule via e-mail and phone throughout the duration of the project. He presented changes orders quickly and kept the project rolling while changes were being priced. The project was completed on time and within our budget and the work turned out great, we couldn't be happier. We have already had the contractor start working on phase 2 of our project and are planning on him doing our Kitchen and Basement as well. We would deffinately recommend him. Allen Penman

Was sold on the Current Safe Entire Electrical Hazard Evaluation after watching a spot on 9 News. The cost of the evaluation was "half off" but still over $800. After completing further research, similar whole-home electrical system evaluations cost around $200 from well-reputable electrical companies on Angie's List and other licensed electricians.  Greiner might use more high-tech gadgets and thus the cost is higher, but from other reports we have researched, it seems that the major problems can be discovered by other whole-home evaluations without the use of such gadgets.  Just our opinion.  As a follow-up to the Current Safe Evaluation, we decided to proceed with Greiner to complete the work from our report (e.g. outlet replacements, new outlet, switches, etc.).   All of the work was completed satisfactory and to our expectations.  Plus, the electrician, Steve, was very knowledgeable on our "dated" electrical system and he provided great resources for us to use for future minor fixes or simply replacing buttons as needed.  Steve was also very thorough in his work and even performed extra electrical work outside of the original scope of services for free, which we are extremely grateful.  We think it is somewhat of an issue dealing with a salesperson first before dealing with an electrician, which caused some communication issues before the work started, but it wasn't a big issue in the long-run as all of the items were addressed appropriately.  It just might be easier for the customer to discuss issues directly with the electrician instead of going through a salesperson.  In all, we would use Greiner again for electical work, but might have gotten other quotes and recommendations on electrical system evaluations before chossing Greiner.

Work was performed well. Worker was courteous. Invoice came in 40% higher than was promised. I was told work was $60/hour, invoice charged $84/hour. Parts were quoted at $8/item, invoice came in at $21/item.

Fine. I did have to point out that it was a bit crooked and wobbly, but the installers fixed it on the spot.
