BEWARE: Unprofessional and Unreliable In July 2018 I contracted Gregory Bickle at ASEC to install a radon mitigation system in my older home. The home features a crawlspace with dirt flooring. There was a dispute between Gregory and I about the work that was to be done but luckily my understanding matched the invoice. Gregory was very unprofessional and resorted to calling me names and threatening to put a lien on my home. Reluctantly he agreed to do the work as listed in the invoice. His sister finished the work on my home and during a major rain downpour she negligently left the hatch to my crawlspace open. I now had flooding in my crawlspace. Gregory and his sister concluded that the job was complete and the flooding in the crawlspace was now my problem to deal with. I ended up spending several hours with a shopvac and removed about 40 gallons of water from my crawlspace. 7 months later I noticed that the fan was no longer running. I have contacted Gregory several times leaving messages asking about a warranty on the fan and he has yet to contact me. Let this serve as a warning to you that if your thinking about using ASEC services that you should consider moving on and calling a real professional.

    On Point Home Inspections
Jeff was very kind and professional throughout the inspection process. 10/10 will refer to friends and would definitely use his services again. With all of his years in the construction industry, I feel confident in his report.

    24-7 Restoration
24-7 Restoration was a remarkable company to work with. We had a water-main break in our foundation and had severe water damage to our basement and crawl space. We originally used a different company as recommended by my insurance provider. The first company was not able to dry our basement effectively. A few weeks later a musty smell developed in our basement. I called 24-7 to have the crawl space checked out and a crew was at my home the same day. They found mold growing as a result of the failed dry-out from the first company. The 24-7 crew removed the mold and did a full dry-out of our basement. They were extremely professional and the work was top notch. I regret not going with 24-7 the first time. I highly recommend 24-7 restoration to anyone looking for a reliable, professional, and quality restoration service.

    Lead Safe Testing, LLC
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Lead Safe Testing LLC!

We are in the process of buying and home that was built in the early 70s, and with a little one, wanted make sure we weren't being exposed to lead in our walls and home. After reading about their amazing process online, I dialed in and was immediately answered by Daniel. He was polite and listened to my story and even though he was on his way to a meeting, he took the time to talk me through the process, provide certification, and give me a great list of options. He was able to get someone out to the home the following afternoon, less than 24 hrs after I called him.

I met Stephen (the expert) at the home and was thoroughly impressed by his professionalism and expertise. He let me accompany him as he performed a thorough inspection of all the buildings on the property, inside and out, talking me through the process the whole time, and answering all my questions. He was very personable, obviously loved what he did, and blew me away with the service he provided.

Included in the service is of course a complete summary and read out of their findings. I am so grateful I found Daniel and Stephen. Their help and knowledge is priceless and has helped us immensely through this process, giving us much needed peace of mind. If you are at all concerned about lead in your home, you must must call these guys. They do a great job.

    Scott Home Inspection LLC
I have to say I was really impressed with the quality of our pre-purchase home inspection today. After hearing a couple of horror stories about our friends inspections we were a bit anxious about the whole process.

Todd did a great job with answering all of our questions, providing general advice and maintenance tips all while being friendly and affable. Not only did he show up early but was willing to investigate any little concern we had.

I would recommend Scott Home Inspection to anyone!

We just moved into a newly built Ryland home.  Ryland installs a "passive" radon mitigation system, which is basically just the  pipes underneath the house, running up through the roof.  Ryland "pre-wires" the attic so that the homeowner can install a radon fan.  Advanced Radon Mitigation first came out to look at the job and gave us an estimate ($425 for fan, manometer and installation).
We contact four companies in all; one we called twice and they said they'd come out but never did (we don't call anyone a third time if they're not responsive).  The other companies wanted to dig a pit, install brand new piping, drill through walls, and hang the pump outside.  At about 3.5 times the cost of installing a fan into a pre-existing, plumbed system.  We had to do that at a previous house that wasn't plumbed, but there was no need to do that at this house.
We're very happy with the work Tim did.  Very professional, very friendly.  We can't hear the pump running (it's in the attic) but we can certainly tell it's running by the manometer (and when Tim installed the manometer and drilled into the pipe, you could hear the air being sucked through the hole).  We had to wait a couple of weeks for installation but that was fine with us.

ACE did a great job.  And the system is still working well after several years.  They showed up on time and worked for several hours getting everything done.  The end result is very professional looking.  I recently retested the radon levels in the basement and they ares still low.

Working with ACE Radon was mostly good, but you really have to watch out for your bill, and you need to take an active role in the design of the system or else you could pay WAY too much for an unsightly system.  Allow me to explain...
After much research into radon systems, it was apparent that every installation is unique, so I expected something of a custom quote.  In particular, I wanted to see the price difference between a system that is mostly exterior, and one that uses the attic.  However, it seems that ACE has a very regimented quoting system that charges $995 for the exterior system, and adds $250 for an attic system - regardless of the complexities of your actual situation.  In my case, I didn't want to end up with an ugly monstrosity hanging off the front of my house, so I had some ideas for more aesthetic options.  The quoting system did not shed any light on this, so would have to see what the installation engineer was capable of doing.
He arrived on time and was great to work with.  There was a foot of snow on the ground but he was very courteous and removed his boots every time he came inside.  He first noticed the sump pit and said it would be the best suction point, as opposed to sealing the plastic cover already in-place over the crawlspace dirt.  I was glad to hear this, as I am sure it would have been a lot more work to prepare an air-tight cover over the dirt.
From there we determined that an exterior system was possible and could be placed behind the fence, but there was also a realistic chance that we could use a space between the walls of the house to reach the attic over my garage for a much more appealing system.  The engineer determined the most difficult part of the PVC run to the attic and we decided to try to install that part first to be sure it was even possible.  He was very skilled and had no problem with this section, so we went the rest of the way to install the attic system.  I really appreciated his creativity and flexibility, as I believe it led to an outstanding result.
He was able to finish work for the day a little early, but this was in part due to the snow on the roof preventing the final section of the system which penetrates the roof.  Another engineer came out a different day and finished the work.  He was considerably late in arriving, but gave me a call after a while to let me know he was still on the way.  I took the afternoon off of work for this, so I was not impressed.
It took a few days, but I eventually received an email from ACE with my bill.  This is where you really need to watch out.  When I went through it, I found $330 in extra charges - my bill was 33% higher than necessary!  They had charged me for laying plastic and sealing the crawlspace, which was not needed, nor did it happen.  If I had not taken an active role in the design, I would not have realized this wasn't part of the installed system and probably would have paid this!  They revised the bill without contention.
Another detail not accounted for was the power in the attic.  I am sure most attic systems require the installation of a power circuit and this must be included in the $250 attic system surcharge.  In my case, I already had an available power outlet in an ideal location, so I would have liked to see an adjustment to the price accordingly.  I did not raise this point with them because it was not itemized on the bill.
This may be the case with other radon companies as well, but my conclusion is that ACE's billing practice must be to charge the same price to everyone and then rely on an average over time of easy and complex systems to break even.  I suppose they are free to run their business however they want, but it would be nice if they would take some time to explain this to customers.  It is concerning that this practice can lead to such expensive errors on the final bill - frankly, I find it sloppy and borderline dishonest.
Ultimately, I am satisfied with the radon system and I believe I paid a fair price.  It was not without close involvement, however.  I commend ACE for being flexible and producing a quality system, but I strongly recommend doing your homework and paying close attention to avoid overcharges.

It went well from start to finish.  Very professional, punctual, quick to respond.  Price was reasonable and clearly stated before any work was done.  Definitely would recommend!
