    Ray took lots of care and much attention to detail and assessed what was needed and took care of many maintenance items on the car. He made sure the car was safe to drive. It now runs very well and the car is a reliable transportation vehicle. He went above and beyond what I expected and charged a very fair price. He also explained each step and got permission for the various actions and expenses along the way. I live out of state and am glad that I trusted him to use his experience and judgment about the car. I am extremely pleased with the results and would recommend him to anyone who needs a competent and trustworthy person to take care of their vehicle repair/maintenance needs.

    We are new to the area and have dreaded finding a local auto mechanic because we were so spoiled by our previous mechanic. My husband, who knows cars, used to do all the maintenance/repairs on our cars until the electronic/computer age, LOL, so I always trust his assessments.  He was very impressed with their facility, responsiveness, and professionalism.  My husband used them for the first time a couple weeks ago for universal joint, valve adjustment, etc on his 2005 Dodge RAM and they were able to work on it right away (without an appointment) while he waited.  On 8/13/15, we hit a large rock in the road that put a large hole and cracked the oil pan on our 2002 VW Jetta TDI, ripped off the under belly cover, and lost all the oil in the car.  Bad Rock is apparently the only AAA approved facility near us.  They said they normally don't work on foreign cars but if the issue is mechanical, they can usually do the work so we had AAA tow the car to them to take a look at it and see if it was something they could do.  They were very responsive, told us they could repair it, gave us a breakdown of the costs, had the parts delivered, and repaired the car all within 3 working days.  All the mechanics are very competent, professional, and they saved the worn/damaged parts.to show us.  Their labor rate seems a little high from what we're used to but as I mentioned, we were spoiled by our previous mechanic.  The parts for the VW weren't fully covered by insurance but that's because Bad Rock procured quality NEW OEM parts while the insurance company would only cover used parts and we're happier with new OEM parts over used anyway.  We're very pleased with Bad Rock and we feel we've found a new "home" for our cars.

    They were prompt and communicated with me well.  They let me know waht they found wrong and the cost.  The cost was farf below what the dealership said.  The two problems the dealer said I had with my brakes were not true that saved me a lot of money.

They provide a detailed explanation of all needed work, cost and time required. All personnel are helpful, courteous and very professional.     Great job on my Honda. I previously had all A+ in this review but I'm changing my review since the work on my Subaru was completed early June, 2013.

    Took the Subaru there for a fluid leak in late April, 2013. Turned out be a $1600 head gasket repair. I asked them to check over the vehicle first before the head gasket repair to be sure it was worth me fixing. Well, on the follow-up drive check after the head gasket repair they learned the transmission was bad, so another $1100. They had a replacement transmission there. Only after the transmission was installed did I learn it had 150,000 miles on it. The transmission problem should have been caught before the head gasket repair and one of the owner's admitted such directly to me. I was very upset about a $2700 bill for a 2001 Subaru. It only gets worse. Five weeks later the clutch went out, another $1000, and it was only two years old. This too, the clutch problem, at least in my opinion, should have been noticed when the transmission was replaced, though they respectfully differ with me on this point. I've not spent close to $4,000 on a car not worth that amount. I would have been better off getting a few hundred for it for scrap instead of these repairs.

    I do not feel as though these folks are taking advantage of me. Perhaps it was just a series of incidents beyond their ability to catch. I believe these are honest, good people but perhaps a bit too busy to be as thorough as they should have been. I like these people and am sad to have to report these facts. I may still do business with them assuming they do not refuse me after seeing this review.

    Excellent experience. Very clean shop. Owner often behind the counter. Coupon on website for first time customers is nice. They have a customer appreciation program (punch card) if you return within 4,000 miles. They promise 10 minutes for an oil change but I had them check my and quot;check engineand quot; light so it took a bit longer. They have a brake shop right next door but I did not have service performed there.

    For the initial work (everything but the truck shell) I was given a 2-4 week completion time, though to my shame I did not write into the contract a completion time limit. After 8 months of waiting, literally hundreds of phone calls, finding my truck - with custom wheels - parked in an unsecured area behind his shop in pieces (see photo), and many excuses, I received my truck with a several paint runs, molding not attached properly, paint too light in some areas, and the TOYOTA tailgate lettering off center.  The body work was acceptable but not excellent (I could see sanding marks in one spot).  About this time, by chance, I spoke with another Kar Kare customer with a very similar experience.

    I received my truck shell in July 2011, again after many excuses, many phone calls, and much frustration.  At the time I contracted for the truck shell I was told one was immediately available for purchase, though it was not. When the truck shell was purchased a few months later via Kar Kare it was the wrong shape and thus would not fit the truck. The shell had to be modified to fit, the paint would not adhere properly to one part of the shell (later fixed), etc.

    Kare Kar is a one person/owner operation. At least ninety five percent of my calls went directly to voice mail. A few times I had to warn the owner I would sue and only then would I get a call back. Kar Kare prices are very competitive, but the business ethics - at least in my case and one other customer - were horrendous. In May of 2011 I found it necessary to file a case in small claims court to get the work completed, this after my calls again went unanswered. Even with a court order for Kar Kare to fix the paint problems and deliver the shell, that work was not completed until after the time allowed in the judgement and without all the parts for which I paid. I have never been so frustrated and angry with a business!

    If you contract with Kar Kare insist on visiting the work location first. Expect to see a shop in disarray.  Also, if you contract for work with Kar Kare, it is a MUST to have in the written contract a clause for time limits and penalties if the time limit is not met. But even so be very wary!  I cannot recommend contracting with Kar Kare even with special contract provisions. If a problem arises you'll likely not be satisfied with the problem resolution. Neither should you be mislead by the photo album of previous work.

    Even when we had an issue after a repair, he did the right thing and had the vehicle towed back to his shop and had it ready for us that afternoon. If you have a Land Rover, there is no other repair shop if you ask me.
