    Barefoot Decks Inc
Barefoot decks created a gorgeous backyard deck for our house. They replaced a small wooden deck and replaced it with a composite deck almost three times the size. John worked with us to establish the design, discuss the best option for materials, provide samples and models, and create a quick estimate. We had quotes from three companies and Barefoots price was highly competitive. John took care of everything from getting permit from the town, delivering the materials, getting the work started, and arranging the final inspection. Shawn, his builder, was timely, reliable, friendly and produced a super high-quality deck. They estimated two weeks from start to finish and they were right on target. Thank you, John and Shawn!

    Enviroshapes Concrete
To start, the company says that they prefer e-mail contact, but I was unable to locate an e-mail address on both Angie's List and their company website. So, I contacted them by phone and left my information. They e-mailed my two days later asking for some information so we could set up an estimate. I responded with the information and have not heard back since. That was nearly two weeks ago.

    Designs by Stonescapes
After interviewing 8 different contractors Stonescapes was not only one of the lowest priced but I had a great feeling of their competence and professionalism. From the design and estimate with Sabrina to the really prompt and excellent work by her crews. I couldn't be happier with everything. Most comforting was the extra attention to detail they paid when it came to drainage. The only hiccup we had was in the electrical sub-contractor they hired to hook up the hot tub. The guy didn't show up when expected and performed work that was actually against code. I had to hire a new electrician to re-do the work. Sabrina and Stonescapes made it right though, so I have no complaints at all. After a few years the patio is still wonderful. In fact, when I move soon, I will be hiring them to do it all again.

    Accent Deck & Design
Accent deck came in, was very helpful throughout the quoting process to make sure i understood the options and costs, and then built a beautiful deck out of Trex composite material that we are very pleased with. I would highly recommend Accent Deck.

    Accent Deck & Design
The build went wonderfully. Joe at Accent was very professional, open with communication, always prompt, and the deck was built very well. We've gotten a number of compliments on how nice the deck looks. Joe asked and made sure the deck was being built as we wanted. The pricing was about middle of the road, but for the high quality of the deck, it was a good deal.

    Legacy Concrete Inc
Robert came out and gave us an estimate on the job. Said he could not guarantee that the patio would come out OK but he had the best products so if anyone could do it he could. The first stripper he used did not work so we had to pay an additional $400 for a new stripper that was guaranteed. He then sealed the patio and stained and sealed a slab on the south side of the house. At first it all looked good. He told me over the phone the patio looked good as new as we were not home when he completed it. Then in late May we began to notice that the patio was getting white spots on it and it looked like the stain and sealer was coming off the slab. We sent him pictures and an e-mail on 06.06.14 again on 08.05.14 when he responded that he would come out and look at it and get in touch with his supplier. He also suggested that we may need to re-seal it and I indicated at the time that we did not want to spend any more money as we had already spent over $3000. No word as of today so we sent recent pictures and another e-mail. Please see attached pictures of our issues.

    Hire A Pro Construction
With one exception my experience with Hire a Pro Construction was  miserable and I should probably take an anger management class before continuing with this review.  Before I start I do want to talk about the exception.  One of Sam's employees named Dominic did an A+ job on the deck railing around the front steps and porch.  He came on time, was very meticulous and efficient and did a beautiful job with the railing - Timbertech Radiance Rail Express.  He was also responsible for removing all the old railing and brick trim. This was no easy job --  approximately 60 feet of wood railing and 80 feet of brick trim and a huge piece of rebar. Overall, he was very professional and the work was excellent.    This trash - from the porch railing and brick trim was hauled away by Sam's crew.
I initially contacted Sam through an Angie's List  "Deal" in May 2012 - approximately May 15th - for ($995) contractor consultation and labor for a week.  I was especially pleased because at that time all the reviews I saw on Hire a Pro Construction were A's.  I spoke with Sam who did come out and look around at the work I needed done.  He told me he would not be able to start the work until August 27th because he had booked so many people.  I waited all summer and expected to hear from him or see him on August 27th but he was a no show.  I called and he came over August 28th and asked me to remind him what it was he had agreed to do.  We went over the list and I told him I wanted time and materials.  He came back the next day with his $6,800 dollar proposal (plus the $995 I had already paid).  Dominic showed up at the end of August and was finished early in September.
Throughout the rest of my experience there were several no-shows when I had been told by Sam his crew would be here.  I had to call Sam several times and he always had some excuse - I'm behind on other jobs, I forgot the date we set for work, etc.  The re-tuck on the front porch grout was sub-par and even Sam came out and agreed it was poor work.  Still, he sent the same crew member out again and I don't feel the quality of the work improved at all.  A few old bricks and a pile of trash was left on my front porch and has never been removed.  No tuck pointing was done where the porch abuts the house.  The bricks were never coated with waterproofing.
The EIFS stucco repair around the foundation was never finished.  A base coat was applied and Sam said it would need a top coat but nobody ever showed up to do it.  There were also at least two places that were missed.  I still have partially used bags of Quikrete Stucco Mix, a large utility broom, caulk and some huge plastic mixing tub and tools outside the front of my house that were never removed.  I think that the initial coating for the stucco repair was probably applied OK but since the finish coat was never applied I will now have to hire someone else.  I will also have to clean up all the trash and other objects left by Sam's crew as well as clean off the splatters of stucco mix on the door (this is a font walk out home) and on the driveway.  (Sam said it would wash off with the hose but it did not - I tried.)
Sealing around the house was accomplished with Alex plus acrylic latex caulk plus silicone.  None of the old peeling caulk was removed nor was the crack needing to be caulked cleaned out.  While the job was  completed I don't feel it was a professional job but rather one done by an amateur - same worker that did a poor job on the bricks on the  porch.
The concrete under the sliding glass door was fixed - a bigger job than the crew anticipated due to shifting of soil under the concrete.  All seemed to go well except they admitted to putting too much water into the mix and waited until after dark for it to be ready to "broom finish."  I think they got tired of waiting, broomed it anyway and then left. They also did not "clean" out the crevices where the slabs meet - they are full of dried up chunks of cement.   The next day they came back and one of them ran his foot through it and made marks on the concrete that could not be fixed.  They  had also  splattered it all over the patio doors and on other parts of the patio.  Again, Sam said it would wash off with the hose - it did not.  I now have a splotchy looking patio.  I have been told that I can get it off with a wire brush - I'm really looking forward to doing that.  While the job was done, it was certainly less than professional.  There are five 80 pound bags of quikrete cement mix still left in my garage.  I should note that they borrowed my ladder and wheelbarrow for work because they didn't bring their own equipment.  One of the workers did make a cover for the hole in the basement floor - it's adequate.  The two small holes in the drywall inside the house have never been finished.
Unfinished:  Drywall holes, stucco repair, brick waterproofing, clean up
Last heard from Sam:  October 17, 2012 - said he be here 10/19 - no show and I haven't heard from him since.
Continual problems with communication and four or more times crew were no shows on scheduled days with no call from Sam to explain what happened.  I'm finished with him because I want what still needs to be done - to be done the right way.
I don't think Sam knows how to plan or schedule work nor do I think the work was professional with the exception of the porch rail. My fault I paid him everything up-front because of his "A" Angie reviews that I initially saw.  I would never hire him again.

    Krueger Construction Management
The price was average. My neighbor recommended me to their services after they replaced their deck. I had a quirky request with the way he would install the wood. He was happy with it as well and is going to incorporate that procedure with all of his future deck installs. I am very happy with his services.

    The Deck Superstore
I would recommend the deck store as a great source for all your decking needs.  I found that their prices were a bit more than others on some items, but purchasing everything in one place was convenient.  I had to return some extra items at the end of my project and the return process was trouble free.

    Up To Code
The powerwashing had to be rescheduled because of weather a couple of times.  It was difficult to reach Owen because his cell phone message center was full.  I don't think Up to Code realized how many people would respond to the offer. I also contracted to have Up to Code stain and seal the front porch and back deck as well as the powerwashing. Again I had difficulty getting it scheduled because I couldn't reach Owen (and because of rainy weather), BUT when they came to do the staining and sealing, they did a terrific job. They matched the stain that was on the deck and got all of the nooks and crannies of the deck and porch covered. Both the porch and deck look really nice now. They covered the patio below the deck to prevent drips from getting on the concrete and furniture down there. I was very satisfied with the professionalism of the men who did the work.
