    I called and talked with Chris and scheduled an install of a furnace for the house. I had priced out other furnaces and his quote was on the less expensive side. I knew the retail cost of the unit was around $800-$1000 (Chris even told me that was a close estimate). They came out and did the install and it only took 2 techs 2 hours...which I thought was super quick, but it boggled my mind that I was paying around $1200-1300 for labor. To me that is ridiculous and an absurd amount of money. There were no modifications needed on the furnace (hence the fast install time) and little parts used for install. Then what really burst my bubble was that after all that, the techs forgot to install a FILTER! I called Chris back and asked if he could drop by a filter and he told me yes I will be there next week...I waited and waited. 2 month and 5 phone calls later I finally got a few filters dropped off. I was irritated to say the least. I would not recommend them. I understand that furnaces are not completely easy installs, but $300 per tech per hour is an absurd price for labor in my humble opinion.

    I was in the process of moving, I sold my condo and I needed to have my AC checked and serviced before closing. But there was a big problem, you can't service an air conditioner properly unless it's 65 degrees or warmer outside. So this company penciled me in everyday for almost two weeks until we got 65 degrees, my air conditioner was perfect, the specs are right on. it was a great experience no pressure and I would use them again.

    The Viking professional was friendly, informative and very thorough. He checked and cleaned the boiler, inspected thermostats and piping. The service and cost were excellent. We will definitely continue to use Viking for all our boiler and water heater needs. We highly recommend this company.

    We called to ask for an estimate on the work, and discussed with Joe all the options and costs.  He was very patient, and we agreed on the work to be done and the specific equipment to be installed.
    Joe and his assistant arrived on time and performed the work in a few hours.  Joe gave me all the manuals and explained how every part of the system worked.  He offered to explain it to my husband upon his return from a trip.  In fact, he actually came to the house, showed my husband how to maintain and operate every part of the system. 
    We called Joe again with a question about the electrostatic filter, and Joe came out and made sure we understood it.  He charged nothing for the second two visits.
    We were extremely happy with First Rate Heating and Air.  We would definitely use them again, and certainly recommend them highly to anyone!

    I didn't think my AC was working like it should at the end of last summer, so I thought I would get a jump on the season and have it inspected now when theoretically the HVAC people are less busy.   Chris came out and tested the pressures and inspected the system.
    Everything was within spec.  He said a problem might not surface since being cold out, there was no load inside or outside on the system.  I bet he had at least 1 hour of his time invested in me, but there was no charge.  I will have him out when it warms up if the AC still isn't performing like I want.

    We arranged with Custom Heating and Air Conditioning to provide the $55.00 furnace tune-up, as advertised on Angie's List. We confirmed that we also have a humidifier on the furnace system and the scheduler said she would arrange for the humidifier to be serviced, including replacement of the filter pad, at no extra cost. We also opted to have our two gas log fireplaces cleaned and serviced.
    The company sent two techs; one cleaned the gas log units while the other completed the furnace work. The $55.00 furnace tune-up price is reasonable, assuming the furnace already runs well. In our case, the furnace ran well until after the tune-up was completed. My husband and I noticed that the unit made a loud, whistling noise after the techs left. It took two phone calls to get another tech back two weeks later, on November 28. He discovered that the furnace access panel had been bent, causing the whistling noise, and he fixed it. Then he asked my husband to pay an additional service charge, which was waived after some discussion.
    We do not recommend the gas log fireplace inspection and cleaning for the cost. The procedure consisted of checking for gas leaks, sweeping out the units, and using glass cleaner on the glass front. Also, my husband showed the lead tech a battery pack container in each fireplace that had not been working properly. He took the fireplace model and serial numbers and said the company would let us know whether the fireplaces were still in warranty, and also how the units could be fixed. The tech who fixed the whistling noise also annotated his invoice, confirming that we still had not heard back from the company regarding the fireplace problems. It's now two months after the first service call and we still have not received the information.

    I wanted an on-demand water heating system and was unhappy with the way I had cold areas in the house. Aaron, the estimator looked at our furnace and set-up and made several suggestions. We settled for a more efficient furnace sized right for the house and had him install a Rinnai water heater. What a pleasure. The workmen were friendly, neat (booties, cleaned as they worked), on-time and seemed pleased to be doing their work. My home is comfortable and we love the on-demand water heating. No more scheduling showers, dishwasher and laundry! Though the price hurt a bit; after experiencing our new comfort, I don't really remember how much we spent. Thanks Finish Line.

    I called him, he missed the first date he was to be here for an estimate. The second time, he was three days late for an appointment to give an estimate. When he arrived all he said was, "here I am, three days late." No excuse, no appology. He did have a great price but, he wanted my contractor to cut out the holes in the floor for the cold air returns. Shouldn't he do that? We went with another heating & a/c company.
