General Contracting reviews in Elizabeth

    C Squared Construction LLC
I first found C-Squared Construction, LLC in a deal Angie's List was running for 40 hours of work for $1,499. Before I bought the deal I exchanged several emails with Casey, the owner. He seemed responsive, which was in opposition to a number of negative reviews I had read about him and his company. Given my experience with him up to that point, I decided to buy the deal. I followed the instructions on the email I received from Angie's List and selected three possible start dates and then heard nothing back from Casey. I made several attempts to contact Casey to no avail. I finally told him I was going to cancel my purchase if I didn't hear from him so he finally reached out to me with a date 45 days into the future. Later that day I tried to clarify some things with him but again got no response and found his voicemail was full. Finally, realizing the negative reviews were accurate, I exercised my option under the 30-day guarantee to cancel my purchase and received a refund of my purchase from Angie's List. I thought all of this was done when Casey and C Squared Construction emailed me saying he was ready to start the work, apparently unaware that I had canceled my purchase. I told him that I had canceled the deal when I couldn't get a hold of him but if we was still interested in doing the job I'd give him a shot. He came out and looked at the bow and sent him engineering plans. A couple of says later, I got a two-line estimate from him: $3,840 for labor and $960 for materials (not including the I-beam I was supplying), totaling $4,800. No other details were given. I told him I was surprised by his estimate and that I couldn't understand where the amounts were coming from since there was not any detail. I went on to give him a break down of what I was expecting the cost to be, including a breakdown of labor and supplies. I estimated 56 hours of labor and around $200 in supplies. I have helped build several homes and barns and finished several basements so I have an idea of how long framing takes and what supplies are needed. He replied with "I Know what it takes to do work," and insufficient list of the supplies and a rudimentary break down of the labor. Over all, he was saying it would take 88 hours of labor at between $40.50 and $75/hour, plus a list of supplies, which didn't include quantity or price but still could not account for near $1,000 estimate he gave me. Casey's inability to communicate should be a deal breaker for anyone needing a contractor. I also have concerns about how he bids jobs. The details are important and I can't imagine anyone would be happy with a two-line bid for nearly $5,000.

Casey listened to what we asked for and went above and beyond to
accommodate our   requests.  We found Casey to be very easy to
work with and very respectful. Casey shared invaluable advice and
quoted very reasonable prices for great work.
We will definitely use Right Way Construction again.
