Auto Repair reviews in Colorado Springs

  • I have a 2007 Ford Explorer that was driving with noticeable slipping at random intervals. I started researching transmission repair shops immediately. After, spending the better part of my Sunday afternoon reading reviews of any and every transmission shop around......I came across the name Transmission Clinic(3875 Interpark Dr Colorado Springs, CO 80907). I read all the reviews that I could find on this place on the internet. Then, Monday morning a took a trip to the business to see it for myself. I found the location and noticed that there was a lot of cars in the parking lot and the mechanics were all busy working in each bay. I proceeded into the office and was met by a super friendly staff member named Jess( a very knowledgeable lady that runs the counter) who immediately greeted me. I explained my problem with my car....and she said to bring it in on Tuesday for a free diagnosis. I dropped the car off that Tuesday and a hour later I received a car was being checked over. Before, the close of business I was informed that my car needed a new transmission. I told the owner Don C., that I needed some time to get the funds for the work and asked if i could leave the vehicle there in the meantime.....he said YES! With three kids in college money is tight. Two weeks later....I called the shop and told them to go ahead with the work. They went straight to work on it. A few days later I was informed that my explorer was ready for pickup. I went to pick up the truck and was told by Jess that the mechanic wanted to speak to me. I was introduced to the mechanic and he pointed out a safety issue not related to the work performed. I immediately drove it to a repair shop and had them look and it and was told that it needed to be repaired ASAP. The shop(transmission) told me to drive the vehicle for 500 miles and then return to the shop for a inspection. I followed the requirement and returned as asked and the inspection produced no concerns. I couldn't believe how nice the truck was driving. I just happen to have the previous owner of the vehicle with me for a quick lunch meeting a week after the repair. We started driving the vehicle and he noticed that it was running smoothly and asked if I repaired it. I told him that I put a rebuilt transmission in it over at the Transmission Clinic. As we were leaving the restaurant he asked if he could drive the explorer to see how it felt. I had to answer a call on the drive back to my office and when I looked over at his face I noticed a look of concern or something. My phone call literally took the duration of the entire trip time back to my office( A 15 Minute Call) to complete. He parked the car and got out and was making a phone call as I stepped out the vehicle. I waited for him to finish his call......then he turned to me and said. I just called my wife to let her know that we made a mistake selling the car because it drives beautifully. He said it drove just as nice as it did when he bought it brand new in 2007. He said that he replaced transmissions in the past on two of his former vehicles and neither of them drove that nicely after the repairs were made. He said that he sold me the vehicle because he didn't want the headache of trying to have it repaired and thus he did tell me when I purchased the vehicle back in July/2018 that the transmission was slipping and sold it to me for a fair price. I have put over a 1000 miles on it both highway and city driving. My feelings on the repairs conducted by the Transmission Clinic located at 3875 Interpark Dr Colorado Springs, CO as follows. They are all truly highly respectful, dedicated, knowledgeable, helpful, and highly qualified trained mechanics that are shoulders above the competition out there. The owner Don has assembled a truly star studded staff that deserves the right to pat themselves on the back....because they darn sure did a fantastic job on my explorer and I couldn't be happier with their work. The $2800.00 I spent on the repairs was money well spent. I wouldn't even hesitate to recommend the Transmission Clinic to anyone in need of transmission services or repairs because I truly know that they will treat you right but more importantly they will go out of their way to make any and all repairs if needed right so that your driving down the road safe and soundly. I have a few vehicles( 3 suv's and 3 car's) but since I picked up my explorer. I have driven it daily since getting it back and my other cars are 2014 and newer and their work on this explorer makes it drive as if it was a new car itself. The number to the Transmission Clinic is (719) 822-0517. The reason I'm providing the number is because I did the research and read the reviews out there for all the shops I could find reviews on. This place is a hidden gem known to those who care about their vehicles and respect their hard earn money and can't afford to waste it or their time. Please, note I read the reviews and I saw the negative ones also, but what I learned from taking the time to go there myself was that the owner himself was very honest when I told him about the good and bad reviews. He took the time to to explain his side of the reviews and his answers made since and he even said that he can't please everyone but he wishes he could. I don't typically do reviews....I did one on a new Jaguar I bought a few years back(Sill Terhar in Broomfield, Colorado>Great Dealership<) and one on a awful restaurant experience in the springs that I won't mention by name because they are out of business now. I wasn't going to do a review on this place because I was just being lazy. But, I was talking to a friend who has a transmission going out on his 2001 Chevy Malibu and I know money is tight for him.....and I recommended the Transmission Clinic to him because of the free diagnosis. I hope it works out for him and I hope that this review gives anyone in need of transmission repairs at the very least the insight and ability to move forward with the assistance of the Transmission Clinic's advice or mechanical services. My names is James, I'm 48, a native of the springs and would meet anyone to show them my vehicle and how nicely it drives. But, I know that you putting your trust in the Transmission Clinic would be all the proof you'll ever need.....because their workmanship speaks volumes and I truly believe Don and his staff go out of their way to help customers as if we are a family and friends. Thank you guy's for a job well done and the peace of mind that i'm driving a vehicle with a sound and safe transmission in it. Sincerely, James S.

  • Took them a while to get to our car but I trust them to do it right. It's like the owner of the Transmission Clinic tells me - Bob (Hellem) is great, if you can get him. Man, he's a busy guy. (timing belt/cover, AC belt, alternator belt, PS belt, blower motor, wiring)

  • Bear Automotive and staff were phenomenal in repairing a transfer case on my son's car. They did a thorough estimate at no cost and were upfront on the estimate and all the details of work to be done and upfront that the price could vary once they were able to remove and evaluate the issue. Sharie was awesome in keeping me up to date on the progress and coordinating the exceptional work done. I have found an honest place that performs outstanding work and I recommend them to anyone looking for the same.

  • I wrote a long review. They have deleted it. I stand by what I wrote. They tried to keep parts I had paid for and they screwed up. They used my car to go get lunch and when I picked up my car, it smelled like ONIONS. I took my car to them for about five years. They were ALWAYS over-priced.

  • The tow was included with the purchuse and they let me know when my car arrived, we're working on the vecihial and when it was complete. Don is very knowledgeable and kind hearted. He went above and beyond to get my car running and back on the road. He even installed an axle boot and helped my Grandma with an issue on her vehical.

  • They changed my husbands oil then two days later the engine broke. We took it to a mechanic and he said they over filled the oil, watered it down, and did not clean out the oil that was previously in the car. So a 90$ oil change turned into 3500$ fixing their mistake.

  • WARNING**DO NOT USE**DISHONEST**2 ISSUES IN 1 DROP OFF** Had some items stolen out of my SRT when it was on the lot for service. Service manager, Steve Kane. I brought this to Steves attention prior to leaving with the vehicle. Steve Kane told me he would replace it, on the spot, then I received a call back from Steve, said he was not able to. Said he "talked" to his guys about who took it. Steve told me "none of them know anything about it", NO KIDDING! Who is going to admit to it! I took the SRT in for a Power Steering Replacement, had an extended warranty. I gave all this information to Cody, he did not get it right, and when I came to pick up the SRT after I was told it was good to go, he did not file the warranty claim. I had to wait another hour for the warranty to be filed. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST SERVICE!!

  • BLUF: 0 STARS!! Freedom Honda, Colorado Springs, CO is a business with zero integrity and mechanics who cannot competently and safely perform simple automotive services. Do not use their service center for any services! DETAILS: Freedom Honda serviced our 2000 Honda CR-V (174,000 miles) on 21 Dec 2017—a simple oil and filter change. As my son was driving on I-25N on 22 Dec 2017, the first drive in the vehicle since the service (other than the one mile return trip to his apartment), within 40 miles smoke began billowing from the engine compartment and into the CR-V interior, creating a driving emergency. After exiting the interstate and calling me (his dad) to help determine the seriousness of the situation, we discovered the oil dipstick and tube out of the engine block and dangling between the block and manifold exhaust heat shield. Obviously, the supposed Honda ASE-certified mechanic had made a major mistake during the oil and filter change, and instead of fixing his/her mistake immediately, chose the dishonest approach of doing nothing, which could have resulted in irreparable damage to our CR-V engine and a life-threatening traffic situation for my son. After many hours of implementing a temporary repair and returning 2X to Freedom Honda for a permanent repair, the end result is extremely dissatisfied customers who will never conduct business with Freedom Honda, nor can we trust their final repair to be a good repair. The Service Director, Dan Moran, was rude and unwillingly to compensate my son, an independent contractor, for his 2 hours of lost wages (missed an appointment with a client in Castle Rock) and our combined round-trip mileages of 185 miles resulting from this Freedom Honda fiasco and cover-up. Mr. Moran also concocted a multitude of excuses for his service center--such behavior is inexcusable, unprofessional, and unacceptable!

  • Ed and Patricia are great to work with, always call before to confirm work and also follow-up with you afterwards and have a better than average price. They have earned my trust as well as many others; highly recommend.

  • Wouldn't recommend them for repairs beyond routine service (i.e, oil change, brakes, alignment, etc). Had to return two, three times for each vehicle (which resulted in other issues). Vehicle 1: had to return afterward three times for exhaust leak which occurred after the fluid leak fix. Vehicle 2: whining noise was still present after three visits and approximately $2K only to find out it was the alternator which failed as I was driving home from a trip out of town. Vehicle started leaking oil after that fix which cost me another four visits for $800. Vehicle 1: developed a fuel leak which I took to another mechanic who revealed some crappy work/damage (intentional, ignorance?). Not saying they're unethical, but after nine years I'm taking my business elsewhere as I have lost confidence in their work.
