  • Every aspect of this process was very professional, thorough, and consistent 5-Star service. The project manager, Eric V, kept us completely informed during every step of the way. He was detail oriented and clearly took pride in his crew and the workmanship they provided. I definitely recommend them for all of your flooring needs.

  • Absolutely fantastic. Seth and William & crew exceeded all expectations. In conjunction with a kitchen remodel, my wife and I decided to get the hardwood floors refinished. It had been 22 years since initial install and they had taken quite a beating. Also, the original stain/urethane finish had yellowed significantly. We have approximately 2000 square feet, so we were looking at a huge undertaking. Humble Roots was one of two contractors we considered, both came well recommended from our designer. Seth put together the proposal, and it was clear from the start that he would do everything in his power to do a top notch job. He provided multiple options for stain, offered a veneer for the stair risers to avoid complex sanding issues associated with tight corners, and sold us on flush mounted vent covers to match the flooring. The stain option we selected was a Pallman product that was a stain/hardener combination vs stain/urethane. The finish was less glossy and the colors were very rich. The cost was the same. It turned out to be the right choice. The floors are the highlight of the remodel. As far as service was concerned, it was exceptional. Seth coordinated with the general contractor and the cabinet delivery to do the interlacing of new wood flooring planks to account for a new floor pattern. He scheduled this work on a non-interference basis(weekend). Then, William followed up with detail sanding and staining of the floors in the vicinity of the cabinets to avoid issues with getting stain on the new cabinets when the bigger floor job was completed as well having to work around appliances after installation. When it was time for the big sanding/relishing job, William and his crew were very flexible in working around some delays caused by cabinet delivery issues. The whole project took about 2 weeks. William kept us continuously up to date on status, gave us a great overview of the entire process, and had us inspect the various phases to make sure any concerns were addressed. When the job was complete, we did a complete walkthrough to identify any touch ups. He and his crew came in after all the furniture was put back in and completed all the touch ups and gave us a great lesson on the floor care. Seth did an outstanding job on the stair riser veneer. The cuts and the stain matching the treads were perfect. We expected the sanding to be a HUGE mess, but the “Dustless” (vacuum sander) system only left a light film everywhere that was easier than expected to clean up. They were a true pleasure to work with, very professional. The cost is hard to compare to others, since we had some wood mods to the kitchen floor. The whole job, including the floor mods and flush mounted vents (4 units) cost about $5.50 a square foot. The estimate from the other contractor came in about the same, after the add-ons for floor mods and vents. There was NO cost growth on the job beyond the original estimate. Overall, we are extremely happy with the job. The floors are beautiful, Humble Roots was extremely easy to work with, the quality was high, and the costs we felt were very reasonable.

  • There was a small mix up and I didn't get a call back like I was told that I would, but once I called back, they were responsive and scheduled right away. Discussion about oil vs water based polyurethane did not happen initially so I ended up paying more than was quoted for water based finish. Overall, they guys were great, and they did a great job. Floors look awesome.

  • They were subcontracted through Lowes to do our job. After demoing the floor for us, we had a concrete lift company come in to try to level the floor more. I then called FonF and asked them if they could come out to see if it was level enough. Our install was 5 days out. They said they did not have time to send someone out to check. When they showed up, we were told the floors were not level enough. That did not make us upset. We knew that could be the case. What did make us upset was how they spoke to me - yelling over the phone. Even though I had a concrete person scheduled to come level the floor the next week, they would not even put me back on the schedule. That meant, that I had to wait for the concrete to get fixed, then wait for them to come look at it, just to be put back on the schedule, which was a month out. I guess they aren't concerned at all that I have half my house demo'd with zero flooring. The owner, Jeff, was very unprofessional and started our conversation yelling at me. I had to say several times "May I speak now?" just to get him to listen to why I was even calling. He seemed highly upset that I "wasted" his time by the floors not being level when they came out to install - although I kept trying to tell him over his yelling that I had asked the secretary if they could send someone out to see if the floors were level enough or not. Oh, and this was after calling three times bc he refused to even take my calls until I flat out asked the secretary why he was not taking my calls. Only then did I actually get him on the phone. I would stay away from this company!!! I very rarely write reviews, but felt it was necessary in this case! I should add that the guys that came out to do the demo were nice enough and did the job in a timely manner. It's a shame the owner was so nasty to me when I was just trying to communicate and figure out how and when the job was going to get finished.

  • Outstanding! This was the second flooring that Chad has done for us, and he did another excellent job for us. Chad wants everything perfect, and gives special detail to make it perfect. He gets there on time, he works a full day. I don't know if he's the cheapest. I didn't do much price checking because I just knew Chad to would do the best job.

  • John is an absolute Pro, knows is business inside and out, his advice throughout the project was invaluable and much appreciated. As the word "Probity" means honesty/integrity.......that is exactly what you get from John. He was always on time, communicative, and respectful. He follows through on promises and can absolutely be counted on. The finished product was AMAZING. I would absolutely recommend Probity / John with no hesitation!

  • AMAZING! The job was does exactly as quoted and described. The process of getting hardwood floors in your home is not easy with both the demo and the sanding/staining. Classic Hardwood made it easy.... The entire team was professional and did amazing work. They were very respectful of our home and when we walked into the finished product, we were thrilled. They went the extra mile to make sure the place was cleaned up and they protected the rest of our house from the dust and mess during the project. Showed up on time and were very friendly. I would hire Classic Hardwood Floors again and would recommend them highly.

  • We received three bids for the job. ProWorks was more expensive than the other two, but their bid included things the other bids did not, which is why we chose them. First, the existing prefinished hardwood had been installed without removing the baseboards, and instead a strip of shoe molding had been attached over the floor to cover any gaps. It was really ugly and looked unprofessional. ProWorks was the only company that offered to remove the baseboards to see how bad the gaps might be and if possible replace the baseboards with a thicker baseboard to cover any gaps; the other companies said I was stuck with the shoe molding (I've attached pics to better explain this issue, since it was basically the deciding one for us). Second, ProWorks promised a time to completion that was shorter than the others by several days. Since the work was encompassing the entire first floor of our house, including the kitchen, less time out of commission, even by only two or three days, was a big bonus, especially as it meant the work would encroach on only one weekend rather than two. Third, ProWorks was the only company that included in their bid the cost and scheduling of movers to move our furniture into the garage to get it out of the way, and to move it back after the job. This was a real convenience not to have to coordinate this ourselves. Jose and his team did the installation and the sanding/refinishing (September 2015). They did the job in the time allotted, there was not too much mess, and we stayed in the house for the duration except for one night, when Jose recommended being in a hotel because of the fumes from the finish and also because the floor needed not to be stepped on in any way for a period of several hours. The new floors are gorgeous and we love them. There were a couple of issues, and this is where ProWorks really shined. The first was immediate, when I observed that the posts from the stair banister had been put back a sort of ugly way after the replacing of the treads. New banisters were not part of the scope of work, but when I mentioned that the connection to the stair was clumsy--more than it had been before, Anthony (who is their jobsite supervisor) came out to check it out and agreed with me. ProWorks sent a stairs team out to fix the issue within a day or two. The second issue took longer to come up. The existing floor had been done in prefinished hardwood, which meant the boards had a "microbevel" on the edges to make for easier installation. This meant that it needed to be sanded for refinishing more deeply than a regular hardwood floor to get past the microbevel. The first team did not sand it quite deeply enough, so that there were still wide cracks between the boards, which they filled in with filler. Within a couple of week, the filler started to come up out the floor, especially in the kitchen, where the floor gets walked on a lot. This left the large cracks in the floor exposed, not to mention the shards of filler constantly scattered all over the floor. I discussed the problem with ProWorks, and they agreed to have someone come back and resand and finish the preexisting floor to take care of the microbevel and the filler issue. They asked me if it could wait until January (2016) when they would be less busy, and I agreed. They arranged for the work to happen over the three-day weekend when we were planning to be out of the house anyway. Again, they arranged to have movers come and move the relevant furniture (including fridge and stove) into the garage before and back after the job. I believe the second team was led by Daniel, who kept in touch with me throughout by phone since we were out of town. ProWorks did not charge us anything for the corrections. A couple notes on communication: Jennifer does all the coordinating, and I found that phone is better than email to reach her. Anthony can be a bit of a pill--I kind of felt he considered it his job to keep my expectations realistic. For example, we had had the bid done by Matt, including the conversations about the baseboards, and in the midst of the job, Anthony tried to convince me that trying to replace the baseboards was not feasible, but when I insisted, he agreed and made sure it got done well. So, basically, he just wants to make sure you really want what you want, but in the end, he wants to make sure you get it, too. This worked for me, as I appreciated the pushback to know what really was doable and what wasn't, but also appreciated that once it was decided, it stayed decided and I didn't have to have that discussion again. The two team leaders, Jose and Daniel, were great and made sure I always knew where they were in the process. We've now lived on the floor for a year and we love it. Jobs this big rarely go perfectly, and I was very happy with the way ProWorks handled the problems. At no time did I feel like I was dealing with a faceless company who didn't care about my job once they had my money. I have recommended them to others, including people who have admired our floors without even knowing that it was work we had done.

  • Avery did a beautiful job on our floors. I was confident in his ability, and he was very easy to work with and was patient while I considered stain options. There's no way anyone can tell where the existing hardwood was and where the added hardwood begins. Excellent.
