  • After having Jennie on-site to measure for the special needs for the master bath, the cabinets were ordered and installed incorrectly. When the cabinets were delivered and staged to install, I pointed out that the custom order was incorrect and told the installer not to proceed, he did. Then it was less than pleasant getting the vendor created issue resolved. Jennie and Dan thought that they were going to charge me for their error. Thankfully the fabulous designer showed them the error of their ways. The designer also informed them that a credit was in order for my lengthy delay (6+ weeks the initial error, plus subsequent week + delays). When Chris finally came to install, after Jennie tried to reschedule the replacement to make it more convenient for them and not me, the customer, Chris was full of attitude and devoid of customer service. Three weeks later I am still waiting for the touch up work and the credit for the inexcusable errors and delays. These folks seriously need to step up their customer service. Select another vendor if you want to have a smooth remodel.

  • Jennifer Rogers worked with us on our kitchen project. We had a sketch of our floor-plan with us when went to the BKC showroom. Jennifer used our floor-plan, aesthetic desires, and budget to put together a design that exceeded our expectations. This allowed us to be very confident in our cabinetry purchase. As we waited for the cabinets, Jennifer was very helpful in answering my questions so that I could complete the rough work prior to cabinet installation, following her detailed and measured plans. This exceeded my expectations as the rough in work was really my responsibility. I could not have completed that rough in work to spec without her kind advice. When the cabinets came and we started installing them, Jennifer's design skills proved their worth. Everything really came together very well for this picky engineer. Overall, I was very impressed with BKC and Jennifer's knowledge in kitchen design, cabinetry, and attention to detail. Thank you!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed working with Bret and are thrilled with the work he did at our house. Bret built a beautiful wall of cabinets in our mudroom with a bench, shelves, doors, drawers - everything we asked for. He is extremely capable and flexible, building in our wishes and needs while suggesting improvements to the design where appropriate. Best of all, he is very detail-oriented carpenter and builds an absolutely gorgeous finished product. While he was here, he helped fix miscellaneous issues around our house - he can do it all.

  • My experience couldn't have been better.  John Henze responded promptly to my request for an estimate and was able to begin the work within a reasonable period of time.  There was a lot of carpentry work involved in this project which he completely beautifully.  As with most remodeling projects, a number of surprises arose along the way.  John was able to handle these in a creative, effective and budget-friendly manner.  He worked well with other contractors (hardwood floor refinisher, painter, fireplace installer) to get the job done as efficiently as possible even when this created scheduling conflicts for himself.

    John Henze is professional, knowledgable and wonderful to work with.  He did a fabulous job on this project and I am absolutely thrilled with the results.  Without question, I would hire him again and have no reservations about recommending him to family and friends.

  • One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had! We were doing a major remodel of our kitchen and attached sunroom, and ordered new thermo-plast cabinets from MasterBrand. When the cabinets first arrived, they were absolutely filthy and required significant time and elbow grease just to get them clean. This is not just dust I'm talking about. Two of the cabinets were dented and had to be replaced. Some hinges and inserts were completely wrong and had to be replaced. Most of the shelves had edges that looked like a 10-year old with a hacksaw cut them. Four times we requested replacements, and each time, it took two weeks to get them. Each time, many of the replacements came looking worse than the ones being replaced. After over two months of dealing with them, we asked the Sales Rep to meet with us. What a waste of time for me and my contractor, after all the time we'd already wasted. He basically said this is how the cabinets/shelves are, deal with it. He offered to replace the badly damaged ones one more time. This next set of replacements came in three weeks later (we were promised 10 days) and were the wrong color. The right color was ordered and finally came in about 2-3 weeks later and looked okay. So after almost 6 months of very painful, frustrating, not to mention costly, back-and-forth, we finally got some shelves we can live with. (Our expectations were considerably lower after > 5 months of dealing with MasterBrand.) No consideration on price was given, no apology, nothing. Every time I look at these cabinets it reminds me of this horrible experience and the not-great quality of the product. I am still considering ripping them out and starting over, this time (hopefully) with someone more reputable.

  • Disastrous: there was not one part of this project that went smoothly from the beginning. Because I didn't feel confident in my ability to measure for a custom job, I checked the KraftMaid website and found Cabinetry by Cales. Art, the owner, scheduled an appointment in a reasonable timeframe and arrived as scheduled. He took measurements of my spaces. I also told him about plans I had for inside and under-cabinet lighting which I was scheduling with an electrician. He responded with computer-drawn plans and a bid that was within the ballpark of the numbers I had gotten at a local and quot;big boxand quot; retailer. I noticed the plans called for no molding to cover my lighting as we had discussed so it was added to the proposal and I proceeded with my down payment to order the cabinets for the job. My electrician came next to drill and install the wiring. He discovered the drawings Art and his team had created were incorrect. Cabinets in my laundry room were ordered for smaller than the existing space (supposed to be wall-to-wall) and cabinets plus molding in the basement were going to touch the ceiling, not leaving space for the light to escape for the lighting above the cabinetry. I called Art to return to re-measure which he did. He suggested filler wood to mask the error in the laundry room. I didn't want to waste the space with filler wood. He said the cabinets could be re-ordered but he would have to pay for the error. I felt bad: he is a small businessman and it was thousands of dollars of mistakes so I suggested maybe I could put a clothes hanging bar at the end: not what I wanted but I felt it was an accommodation I could tolerate considering the loss Art was going to have if I didn't. At the basement bar I just decided to skip the above-cabinet lighting, ate the cost of the lighting I had already purchased, and the project was back on track. A few weeks later the office scheduled my delivery and install based on notification they received from the manufacturer. I scheduled to be off work. The day before my delivery was scheduled I called to inquire as to the delivery and install times. The office informed me they had not scheduled the installer because they didn't know where the cabinets were: I insisted they address this snafu immediately. Within a short time they researched and found the cabinets were at the warehouse ready to be delivered so the delivery could take place but there was now no installer and the Labor Day holiday was approaching so there was not going to be a place to squeeze me in for a couple more weeks. I had already taken off work, I had the contents of my laundry room in my living room waiting for the laundry room to be reassembled, and a party scheduled for the weekend after Labor Day - and I wasn't in any way at fault so I wanted the installation to proceed. Art called and found another installer who could come on short notice - I was crystal clear: we've had so many problems already with this project, do not send a different installer unless you are completely confident with the quality of his work. He assured me he was. The installer was polite, professional, and neat in my home: unfortunately he struggled to hang the molding in both spaces, having to ask me which was the front/back in the laundry room and stating he could not hang the basement crown molding because it was the wrong type of molding. The laundry molding came in two and quot;sticksand quot;. He butted one end flat against the next (not cutting to blend one into the next), leaving a very visible space between the two at eye level. I called Art and told him about the basement molding problem - he said he would order what was needed and not charge me for the errant original molding. After the weekend my handyman came by for another project. I showed him the molding. He said there is nothing wrong with this molding and he proceeded to hang it for me beautifully (at my additional expense). I called Art back and said the installer was wrong and the molding was fine - please cancel the re-order. He said he couldn't do that and charged me for the new, now-useless molding. When I didn't pay immediately (within a month), hoping there was an error in being charged after all that had happened, he had his office manager call to collect. Measurements/drawings were wrong, needed molding was omitted, delivery was not coordinated properly, install was mis-scheduled, and the substitute installer was clearly the B team : I was left to financially absorb every single error that was made, even though not a single error was my fault. In an effort to be accommodating and reasonable, I feel I was taken advantage of and didn't receive the quality I was expecting in a professional, custom cabinetry project.

  • Joe made a timely estimate and upgrade to my laundry room. They replaced the counter top with stone that they custom cut, painted, changed the light fixtures, and changed all of the cabinetry/door hardware!  Great job.

  • J.R. was one of 5 contractors ask for bids and design suggestions. 3 of these were from Angie's list. J.R was prompt, professional, and offered a very competitive bid. Two  things sold me on J.R. Woodworx, a visit to his shop and a very well done web site with galleries of his work.
    J.R offered design suggestions but emphasized he would do it our way. The installation was ready when he said it would, fit perfectly and we are very pleased with the results. J. R took the time to do the job with professional pride. His work mattered to him. He and his assistant cleaned up after themselves and made sure we were satisfied.
    I plan to use J.R, Woodworx again and highly recommend him.

  • The quality of Tom's work is superior. 
    I have used his services multiple times over the past 6 years, and have always been impressed with his attention to detail.
    Work has always been completed on schedule and on budget.
    Much of the work was indoors and job site was always clean at end of each day. No tools or materials laying around.  Safety was important to us with children in the home.
    If you are looking for a true master carpenter or project coordinator I would highly recommend Vanderpool Construction.
