    Value Blinds & Shutters
I was unhappy with them when I first bought them but they have come through so they're ok. They did what I needed them to do. I had another problem with them because the strings kept breaking and I called them and they came back and restrung and they didn't charge me. They broke again they came back out so I didn't want strings in them so they took them out. They made it so I could push it up myself with my hands. they were really nice. They had their repair guy come out. He took it down, took it to his van, fixed it and brought it back in and hung it up. It was my main window in the bedroom so its kinda hard to sleep there when there is no blind there. They did the repair at no charge. However when I first got them they wouldn't do anything for me, I had to go through Hunter Douglas to get it taken care of which is really hard because I had to have my husband take the blinds down and take them clear across town then we had to hang them our selves. Then a couple years later when the strings broke I called them and they sent someone out. We set a time and they were out there when we said. I like the worker that came out and did it, he did a good job. I've already bought all my other blinds from another company so hopefully I wont have to buy anymore blinds.

Sheila of Custom Window Wear showed up on time for providing an estimate.  At that time, she performed all the measurements.
After I received the estimate, I called her to go ahead with the order.  The blinds arrived and were installed.  After the installation, I noticed that the egress window will not open with the blinds installed.  The blinds are very difficult to remove, so it would not be possible in an emergency to remove the blinds and use the egress window.

I called Sheila and told her of the problem.  She sent me an email that stated that there is no way to fix it.  We had to pay full price, and one of the blinds has to be thrown out.

I believe a professional window treatment company should have provided expert service that would have included verifying that the window treatment allowed the window to open.

We have 3 large windows high up in our family room. For years, we have said we need to figure something out as the heat in the summer is intense through these windows in the afternoon.
We contacted Rocky Mountain Shutters and Shades, set up an appointment and were very pleased with the timely response. A representative came to our home and showed us samples of what we were considering and we had a detailed discussion as to what would work best.
We ended up with shades that also blocked out the heat, not black out, but significant enough that it has had an impact with decreasing our cost of air conditioning throughout the summer months. We purchased the electric lift, and it is the best investment we could have made for these windows.
The installation went well, shades fit perfectly and we are very happy with the product and their service. The staff, from the initial consultation to the installation were very professional and courteous.

    Window Attire
Came out to the house and were very pushy. After deciding on the few things needed they left. I was never given an itemized bill.  I called that night to question the Cornices as they didn't seem right style wise.  I was told "You are committed and can't back out as the fabric has already been ordered". I was told I had to take them.  They had my check for $4,500 so I didn't think I had a choice. When the product was hung one month later, the shades were nice and also the shutters but the Cornices were 1960's and the product was sub standard. The Cornices were poorly made. We decided to remove the Cornices.  Six and a half months later I get a bill for $4,053.  Huh? They deny ever saying that I couldn't back out or had no choice but now they say would have been more than happy to cancel the order.    Needless to say this is not a company that I would ever use again or recommend to my worse enemy.  I would give them an F-.

The process was simple and very well spelled out by them. They come to your home and measure, the quote is presented to you. You have options on how to pay them. It depends on your needs. We opted to pay in full which guaranteed delivery in 3 weeks. I received a call at two weeks that the shutters were in. We scheduled our installation and are very pleased with them. They make our new house feel like a home.

    Aspen Blind Repair
We have six Prestige blinds that operate on a remote. Three of them need repair work. We called Aspen Blind Repair based on Angie's List reviews. My concerns with the service provided are numerous. First, the provider forgot to call us back when we left a message for an appointment. When I called again, she apologized and scheduled an appointment. At our first appointment, the technician, who was a very nice person, had no idea how to repair our blinds. He speculated that they needed parts and that one required a motor to function, and said he would come back. He left without charging anything for his time. When he left the house, all of the blinds were in a down position, and when I used the remote to raise them the next morning, two additional blinds were inoperable and required repair. I called again to report the issues, and another appointment was scheduled. This time, the same technician returned with some of the required parts, but had forgotten the motor. He worked on the blinds for another two hours without making any progress, with the exception of repairing a broken cord in one of the non-performing blinds. Again, he was a very nice person but had absolutely no idea what he was doing. He apologized and was very sincere, but as a service provider, he did a terrible job, and actually left me with more issues than existed before his repair call. He said that he would refer someone to me within two weeks who could repair my blinds and failed to do so. I absolutely would not use this provider again.

Sheila is a professional and made this process very easy. She came to my home the first time to see the room, to listen to what I was wanting in the room, shared her ideas for design, discussed drapery types, fabrics, and pricing, She took measurements and photos. Her second visit she brought samples of rods to finalize the design type, color, and material. She presented various price ranges as well. The rods took some time to be made, which I was made aware of prior to ordering them, but they really fit beautifully in the room and add even more to the look of the draperies. The installer did a wonderful job as well installing and modifying the rods somewhat to fit even better and even fixed one of my window blinds that was broken. I could not have asked for a more pleasant experience and my dining room drapes look beautiful.

Custom Design Blinds Shades & Shutters
Upon initial contact through Angie's list, Kathy Machan called me back the same day. She had an errand to run that was going to take her by my house within a few days so she offered to stop by for a consultation. Great!
She arrived at the agreed upon time and we discussed my needs, wants and desires. We came to an agreement on what would be done, she totaled up the costs and I gave her a 50% deposit to get things rolling. I was ordering custom blinds for one room and plantation shutters for the other. Kathy had made preliminary measurements but told me she would dispatch one of her installers to get the measurements from some of the windows that were out of reach for her.
And so, Larry stopped by in a couple of days (with a pre-arranged meeting time). Larry is a bit of a perfectionist. He came, he measured and left. But, after having been gone for 30 minutes he called to ask about possibly making some adjustments to the original orders slightly. He returned (that day) and showed me a bunch of possible alternate ideas about installing the plantation shutters that, in his opinion, would increase their durability as well as aesthetic value. Basically he wanted to install intermediate frames that would fix to the window trim and then allow a better mounting surface to attach the plantation shutters. He had examples and held them up for me to see the differences pointing out how less light leakage would happen if we did it his way. His ideas were GREAT. So how much more was this going to cost me... nothing. If it was needed it was included in the cost. This framing stuff was really a BIG improvement over simply attaching the shutters directly to the wood trim of the window casements.
Now it was time to wait for fabrication of the various items so they would be available to install. That took a while, approximately 2 months to get everything installed. First the blinds arrived. Larry came out and put them up. Unfortunately there was one small part missing for a couple of the very small blinds that were to be installed in a arched area over the window. Larry had to order those brackets special. But everything else about that install went perfectly.
Within a week or perhaps two, the shutters arrived. So out came Larry this time with a helper and they attacked my HUGE window in the living room. Up went the frames, then the shutters were installed. WoW they look very nice. That window is perhaps 15ft by 15ft. It faces SW and so the sun shines directly into the living room. I simply couldn't sit in that room to watch tv during the afternoon. Too bright and a bit warm as well. With the shutters up, I just tilt them a bit to block out all direct sunlight. The light levels in the room drop dramatically but you can still see outside. I'm a fan.
Of course, you are interested in the material properties and installation excellence not in my selection of a light control method. The shutters are very light but quite stiff. When you move one shutter the entire section moves easily. There are no problems anywhere with shutters being improperly affixed to the windows. The entire job looks like it has been there since the house was built. Larry and assistant kept a very clean workplace and upon their departure you would never have know they had been there. Oh, and Larry did have that errant part for the blinds which he used to finish their installation.
Kathy was a delight to work with at the front end of this experience. Not only was she knowledgable about her products, she was also a delight to work with. Very friendly without seeming to be pushing that at all. Just a very nice person. Larry was incredible. He didn't settle for some work order, he actually improved significantly on the plantation shutters install design. So, I'm a fan of "Custom Design Blinds Shades and Shutters". You will be happy with their work. On the ratings above I did give them a B on punctuality. That was mostly because there was a bit of a delay on the shutters. Not really the fault of anyone here in colorado but rather the factory but... you should know.

    Aspen Blind Repair
I got an appointment in a timely manner. The last time we had a similar blind problem, a business that is an authorized Hunter-Douglas repair sent a man to take down the blind, and it took more than a week to get him here. Then, we waited for more than 2 weeks, possibly 3, to get it back. In the meantime we had to cover a bedroom window with a sheet. We will always call Aspen for any window covering issues or blind problems that we have without hesitation.

What an oustanding team - great service, personality and overall experience.  Kathy helped me to choose window treatments for my kids bedrooms.....due to the window depth, this proved to be a bit more challenging than I thought, but Kathy worked with me to find the right choice without any pressure.   I was informed in every step of the process - excellent communication!
David came to install the blinds - fantastic!  Everyting was installed, cleaned up and perfect!  Couldn't ask for a better experience!
