    Sears Appliance Repair
    The service tech was TWO hours late...past the four hour window I was give. No updates were ever given nor coounication that they would be late. When they arrived no comment or anything was made about the, being late. He literally broke the filter and jammed the pieces out, no professional and then he proceeded to have me do a closing survey with him present so I couldn't comment on any issue and it took him five minutes to break the filter and remove it...and I was charged what was an u fair price for no work or time....

    Rich came out the same morning that I called and was a pleasure to deal with. Professional. He could have dug into many of the different systems but instead went for the likely culprit, the control board (the original 11-year old board). Even though it cost 250 bucks, It would have been the same or more in labor/parts if he started troubleshooting the other less-likely causes. He will come back if this doesn't do the trick, but he was pretty confident.

    I have mixed reviews about them. The technicians that were sent out were fine. They were very polite and knew to not make a mess. Dave was very nice and knowledgeable. He did a good job, however, it seemed like it took them a rather long to get here and fix the water heater. Dave said he ordered parts for it but for some reason the distributor did not send the parts in a normal manner. It took almost a week before it was fixed. 

    I talked to Service Guard and explained I didn?t think it should have taken so long so I would like a credit for my contract for the next month. The person I spoke with told me it was no problem but when I got the bill, it was not deducted. When I called them, they denied ever agreeing to it and denied the credit. 

    The following month, I did get a credit for Service Guard after speaking with the supervisor. So it took a lot of time and effort before getting the credit but I'm not sure who was at fault, Service Guard or Black Hills Energy.

    I called Sears tonight and spoke with 'Elizabeth', a member of Sears' Customer Satisfaction Department who told me that there is nothign she will do until tomorrow, and that they will reschedule us for the next available appointment. So, the answer is that I need to wait for 30 or more days without working appliances. The Microwave was never addressed in this visit, or while I was on the phone with Customer Satisfaction.

    They showed up late. We had a lightning strike near our house and it took out a power supply from our oven. It would have taken $600 to repair it, so we just had them stop there. It was OK. They gave us what we needed. They came within a week of the purchase. They didn't stand out as being really helpful. They would just say they couldn't find this part. They found one in Detroit for $600 and asked if I wanted them to fix it. It was the minimum we expected. We had an appointment and they asked to make it earlier so we accommodated that and then they came late.

    On the Con side:
    1) I purchased a 'deal' on Angie's List as a prepaid service but only to find that it was actually cheaper not to use the prepaid item.
    2) It took several attempts and a couple of weeks to get scheduled initially.
    3) The last repair did fix the leak, but not the water dispenser.  I opted to live without it rather than call them out again.
    On the Pro side:
    1) Once scheduled, they were very prompt, professional and fairly priced.  It felt family-owned and operated and in fact, is. 
    2) They came back out at no charge when the initial repairs seemed to cause subsequent problems.
    3) They offered advice to keep costs down and still be effective.

    As this was not an emergency, L&G scheduled a technician for the next day.  The tech arrived in the scheduled time slot, diagnosed the problem, provided an estimate, and competed the repair.  Zach (the tech) was professional, knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions (we had a lot of them).  We would definitely use L&G Appliances again.

    I am extremely pleased with my entire interaction with L&G Appliances. My 14 year old Kenmore Model 80 electric dryer stopped heating on a Sunday afternoon (this was the first problem I had with either this washer or dryer in 14 years). I called L&G on Monday afternoon. Denise told me they could have a repairman at my home between 1pm and 3pm on Tuesday afternoon. I got a call from the repairman at 1:30 that he would be there at 2pm and he was right on time. He verified that the heating element was broken and showed me the board. He also suggested replacing two other parts that have a limited life for only $10 more. That was a no-brainer. After performing the repairs, he also cut down the exhaust hose, cleaned out all the lint,  and straightened it out since it had two severe bends in the hose that were limiting the airflow. The entire job took one hour. I will definitely be calling L&G in the future for any other appliance repairs.

    JW was very helpful about what was wrong with my washing machine and how much it would cost to fix it.  After talking to him we decided that it would be better to just replace the washing machine.  I was very appreciative of his advice as it would have cost a lot of money to repair and I would still have an old washing machine.  Thanks so very much

    I will never use Sears again. They actually broke my washer and were never able to fix it. I never use their repair service at all. They said that since they were going to be out to fix the dryer, they suggested a tune-up on the washer for 39.95; they broke a part on the washer and never could get the right parts to fix it again. They would order the part and then tell me that it would take 10-14 days to get a technician out here. In the end, they offered $200 towards the purchase of a new washer.
