    Wright-Jones Plumbing & Heating
When the plumber arrived, he immediately set his box of vinegar on an end table that my father had made which was stored in our mechanical room. When I asked him to be careful, he mutely moved the box with attitude. Within 30 mins he had cleaned the unit and asked me to come downstairs to see something. He first asked how old the unit is (4 years) and if it had been serviced before (No). Then he showed me a broken valve that he said had been "frozen open" and told me he would need to replace it before he could flush the unit, answering my question about cost of the part, "$100." He did not apologize for breaking the part but instead blamed me, saying that we hadn't had our unit serviced regularly. He left, leaving the moths and dirt that he cleaned out of the unit in a pile on the floor.I called the business the next day to ask if they would provide the part at their cost or at no cost since the plumber had broken the part. I was told $100 was their cost, although the same valve kit was online for $63.The plumber came back to install the valve kit and flush the unit and wore his very muddy boots right into my house, tracking mud onto our wood floor where I had just dust-mopped. He installed the valve kit first, and when I checked on him, I saw that he allowed water to drip on our family table that also was in storage and was placing his tools on the table. When I asked him to be careful and if I should cover the table with a towel, he said no, that if more water dripped he would just "wipe it off"! He had no regard or respect for our home. He then told me that he had dropped an O-ring and couldn't find it. We spent 10-15 mins looking for it before he went to his van to get another one, took a phone call, and returned to discover that I had found the original O-ring.  He charged us for all of this time at $80/hour.After finishing the routine maintenance of flushing the unit which is what we called him for in the first place, he again chastised me, showing me how "dirty" the water was and suggesting that the water heater company could void our warranty for not taking care of the unit. Then, again, he implied the broken valve was my fault, telling me to "be sure and work those valves every three months so they don't freeze open."Then he handed me a bill for $421.56, the full cost of all the labor to install the part that he had broken and the full cost of the part and the full cost of a second dispatch to our home.He then informed me that each dispatch was charged at the hourly labor rate of $80 as well, which no one told us when scheduling the service, giving our address, and providing directions to our home.My husband phoned the company to ask about adjusting the bill to a fair amount. The secretary rudely told him to pay what we wanted and that she would turn us over to collections for the rest.  Then she hung up on my husband, all within only 2 minutes of conversation, never offering to explain the charges. She also said she would call the hot water heater company to let them know that we had not maintenanced the unit each year so that they would void our warranty. After we paid $291.56 to the company, she turned us over to collections within a few days, even though our bill shows the balance as a current amount. We filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, and she told them lies about us (such as my never-angry professional businessman husband was "angry" when he called) and said she wouldn't "budge an inch."The collections agency phoned her and offered to mediate the price before the balance "hit the collections floor", and she spitefully told them to "let it hit the floor."This plumber and corporate secretary are the rudest people we have ever dealt with. The plumber was negligent in breaking the part and never accepted responsibility for forcing the frozen valve to its breaking point. They were unwilling to even discuss adjusting the bill for the extra charges and the inconvenience of having a 1-and-a-half hour call take nearly 3 hours and two days. Never has a business person hung up on us like that, within 2 mins of answering the phone. Their threatening attitude about collections and voiding our warranty were unprofessional. The secretary said to the BBB that she doesn't threaten, she acts, and true to her word, didn't budge an inch and turned us over to collections immediately, even though we paid $291.56 right away.
