    CRYSTAL RESORT CLEANERS
    I took my wedding dress to the Valley Valet /Crystal Resort dry cleaners in Glenwood on the morning of Saturday, April 30th with the agreement that I could pick it up on Wednesday, May 4. My wedding was Saturday, May 7. When I picked up my cleaning on Wednesday, I brought the dress home to my mother's house to try it on with a slip I had purchased. It was then that I noticed that half the zipper pull had been torn off the dress and the remaining piece had been forced back on and zipped up. Before taking the dress to the cleaners it had been with my seamstress and we both can assure you that the zipper was in perfect condition prior to my dropping it off. After trying to ease the zipper open (many of the teeth of the zipper had been strained so it was not working properly), my mom and I realized that the zipper was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. My mom called the dry cleaners who said that they "had no record of any damage" and that a manager would call back. When a woman called me back a while later, she told me that they had no record of the zipper breaking, and since it was an "old" dress, in more or less words, this was not out of the ordinary. For the record, I bought a sample J.Crew dress that is probably no more than 2 years old so it is definitely not an antique by any means. Someone at the cleaners was aware of the damage, because they had to use zipper to get it on and off the hanger and the teeth of the zipper were very strained and bent as though someone had worked hard to hide the damage. I am livid, not at the fact that they had broken the zipper, but because no one had bothered to call ahead of time to alert me that the dress had been damaged, and instead, waited until I discovered it on my own. The woman hung up on me and I decided at this point to handle repairs on my own rather than return my wedding dress to the people who had screwed it up to begin with. We went to the Glenwood Sewing Center, purchased a new invisible zipper for ~$6.00 and then took the dress up to a seamstress in Canyon Creek who was able to put in a new zipper for $20. Because it was a brand new zipper, there was a noticeable p***** down the back of my dress that my mother in law had to fix by hand in order to get it to lay right. The wedding went off with relatively few problems after this- but I am still disgusted with the treatment I received from the cleaners. The store manager Sal/Sol called me this morning stating that there was nothing he could do for us because a) he had no record of damage occurring & b) we never gave them the opportunity to fix the problem after it occurred. To this point, my chief complaint is that they were in the wrong to begin with by not notifying me right off the bat about the damage. Had they taken that step, I would have gladly let them fix it, and I wouldn't be voicing my complaint right now. After they had made the mistake, the absolute last thing I wanted to do was bring my wedding dress back to them. They completely dissolved all trust I had by not alerting me to the damage ahead of time. The obnoxious thing is that I am arguing about ~$30. I don't need that ~$30 back- they can have it- but the customer service I've received is beyond terrible. It's too bad there are so few dry cleaners in the valley and we are stuck with this place and a few others (or just have to take our clothes to Denver or Junction). I grew up in Glenwood, as did my mom, and we've used Troy Cleaners for many years. I don't think Troy and Valley Valet/Crystal Resort Cleaners are the same business, because I doubt the Podbevsik family would have treated us so poorly. An offer to cut us a check for the damage would have been a nice gesture, but now I am beyond caring and will instead spread the word that people should not take their nice clothes to this place.
