  • We had a tire blow suddenly on our 5th wheel, and I pulled over immediately. The damage was a broken fender skirt, generator control wires torn out, steps bent and a piece of the seal underneath was missing. The lower skirt suffered some damage and the slide was sticking on extension. I have ben RVing for several decades and have had service experience with many shops. The industry I have observed has a reputation of problematic service in my opinion. I had never used this repair shop and felt perhaps because they were not in the business of RV sales but pretty much accessories and repair they may be better at it. I also chose RV Supply because they are a correct track alignment shop. They also claim to be a Christian based business. The work was covered by insurance and our carrier was not familiar with them and wanted a chance to see how they did. From the line sheet from their final invoice I see what appears to be some excessive charges in labor ($100.00 hr.) and supplies. Below are some examples taken directly off the RV Supply Center Final Repair order. Remove and replace tires (2) - 1 hour + $100.00 ( Our local tire shop does that in 15 min.). Raw thin gauge metal sheet 48” x 16” required -$250.00 1 pint of paint $100.00 Besides the charges, a broken weather gauge, and a new mystery dent below were other questionable sources of irritation that influenced my low rating: The work took weeks longer than expected. The temp was over 112 degrees and the store the RVs out in the direct sun At home I store it in an RV shelter. I asked them to do a roof treatment ($200.00). After I brought it home he solar panels were a covered with thick coating of yuck, dirt and hand print grime. The dirty cleaning solution from the roof has dripped down the side of the RV and stains were left behind. They apparently do not clean up after themselves. Why wouldn’t you wipe off 2 solar panels if you were cleaning a roof? I can’t tell if they cleaned and treated the slide out roofs. If so they don’t look any better. I have never had mice in my unit until the day I picked it up. They didn’t clean up the interior before and after the work performed as the insurance line sheet specified, and paid. . The service tech called me the final week and claimed a weather station sensor was damaged in the tire incident, which is not the case because it was working fine prior to dropping it off for sure. It was a name brand, I sent him a link to a new unit from the same manufacture that had the same features ($40.00) today, the fixed wire probe was no longer available and this was wireless. I believe I paid $25.00 for the damaged unit years back. He said his replacement would cost only $13.00 ( I’m sure cheap Asian electronics). So now am I’m getting told a story to cover up some sort of blunder on their behalf that would cut $40.00 into the profit picture? I made specific written instructions to route the generator wires away from the wheel well. The original wires were exposed in this area and they were ripped apart. I specifically wrote and spoke that while the wheel well was out is when they could repair the wiring in a safe manner. In the end that did not happen and a piece of aluminum was band aided as a cover for the wires that a tire could just pull away and destroy the wires. Again. Very disappointing ball dropped! The fender skirt is notably misaligned and the splice is not parallel with one side straight and the other with a curved, rough gnarly cut. Amateur work The retractable steps were replaced and I asked the service to work the mats into the damage estimate. He could have done so easily but dropped the ball and forgot to so he raised the issue with the insurance company and they rejected them and put new ones on. I had said I wanted a scrubber on the bottom step like I had on my old steps. I knew at this point I would have to pay for the mats. When I picked up the unit I discovered the scrubber on the first step was nothing like my old one and asked if I could get the old one off the old steps. Nope already thrown away…. Did they offer to replace it with the one I had requested? I had requested my old parts back and they are required by law to do so. The seal work on the slide out is not performing as it did prior to the incident and we have a layer of dust introduced into the interior of 5th wheel when we travel. This is unacceptable to live with. I had been very thorough about this subject, with the service advisor. This was reiterated prior to the work being done and during the act as well. It was very important to us. When I discovered the failure the service tech told me it was a manufacture defect. If that is the case why didn’t dust fill my trailer prior to the tire blow out. On the second cycle, the slide hung up and it could not close. The service tech wanted me to drive it 100 miles (one way) so he could look at it. This turns into with return trips 400 miles. I asked him to please send his mobile unit out. He replied they do not have a mobile unit for that purpose. Their web page says they do. I asked how with the slide open am I to make the trip. He asked for photos and I haven’t heard anything form him since. Quite a list huh? UPDATE 11-1-17 This matter was arbitrated by the California Bureau of Automotive repair (BAR). After a compelling inspection, it was only then did the service center concede towards any sort of reasonable resolve. It is a shame it had to go that far. We did receive a sizable refund and for that I did bump up the previous rating one star. We lost a major portion of the years best camping season, and experienced an especially irritating, aggravating, and obnoxious situation. Now after several months we can get the slide-out repaired from the damage that occurred after they improperly adjusted it. The remaining repairs I have personally repaired and or will live with.
