Throughout our entire process we received incredible customer service and support. Communication was outstanding with weekly and daily contact from our site manager during the project. Overall the build was amazing value with high quality finishes even with adjustments to plans and specifications. The process was very efficient, taking 14 months from first day on site to handover even with extreme wet weather at the end thanks to our very efficient site manager. We would highly recommend M&M Construction and Home Design for those choosing to build their dream home in a cost effective and timely manner

Positive initial meeting. Small one-man shop (Andy), which I was okay with (prefer personal service and long term business relationships to large firms w/ no investment). Very friendly. Seemed to know his material. Was confident he could provide the services requested. No contact option other than a phone number that would go to voice-mail during the day, with 'all calls to be answered after 6pm' (again, fine by me).
Did a walk through of the property and pool, reviewed needs (control system, pool cleaner). Was supposed to provide an estimate on both a pool sweep/robot, as well as the components and effort required to bring the pool into operation (new controller, programming of pump timing, solar routing etc). Wanted pool back in full operation by April 1 at the latest.
Began servicing in February. Physical cleaning appeared adequate, but difficult to judge due to dirt on bottom of pool (per above, no pool sweep/robot). Called/left messages several times to inquire about estimate and timeline for controls work. After several calls over several weeks, finally got a verbal 'estimate' of ballpark price, with no specifics as to hardware or materials being quoted. Requested specifics. Cycle repeated (several phone calls, several weeks). No written estimate or description of materials or work was provided.
During this same span, purchased a spa to be placed adjacent to the pool. Wanted to ensure it wouldn't interfere with or complicate his servicing of the pool. Managed to connect with Andy, said it wouldn't be a problem, and could roll servicing the spa into his regular pool service visits. Spa needed an initial chemical set-up and balancing before it could be used. Again, called and left messages but no reply. After a week of our new spa sitting idle, did the setup ourselves.
Now at 6 weeks passed initial engagement, no work done on control systems, no estimate provided, no pool sweep/robot. Can't judge the chemical treatment, didn't have adequate testing chems or strips - part of his function. Per above, difficult to judge the physical cleaning as without robot cleaner/sweep, dirt settles out as sediment on the bottom. I did check the physical filter located at the pump, and it had obviously not been cleaned since the renovation (large rocks in the filter, no way they were introduced after service began)
Short version: nice guy, very friendly, seems knowledgeable, but very hard to reach, poor response, poor follow-through on services and commitments. He did mention he and his gf were dealing with some job and health issues that added challenges, but behavior was pretty consistent from beginning. Price was lowest quoted, so if you have a low-maintenance pool. want to keep costs down, and aren't concerned about delays in response, he may be a better fit for you.

Clearline Pool Service were very good. I don't use them a lot because we don't have that many problems but when we do have a problem they come out here. Everything was good and I like Clearline Pool Service a lot.

Sterling Pools was great to work with. They came out to give us a free estimate on replacing our solar roof heating and also to add a gas heater. They gave us lots of useful info during the estimate about hot to take care of stuff in general. This included noting that we'd need to get our gas meter upgraded to get a gas heater for the pool.
We decided to go with the gas heater option and just fix our solar roof heating ourselves. It took about a month to get the city to upgrade the gas meter. We then contacted Sterling Pools again and they honored the same estimate. They were able to get the heater and install it within about a week of faxing back the signed contract.
When they came to do the install, we really wanted the heater on our existing concrete pad. These guys were great. They rearranged various other pumps and equipment on the pad in order to make it fit. It makes a huge difference in how our backyard looks and we really appreciate that they were willing to work with us on that.
Their heater recommendation was great. It's made swimming so much more inviting. They were very responsive. I would definitely call them again.

My son was with him both times. He said he was respectful and professional. Each time we called Jeff, he was there by the next day! As long as he keeps up the good work and doesn't raise his rates, we will continue using him.

Our large Master bedroom (addition, about 40 years old on concrete pad) had been leaking water from patio and side concrete path through French sliding doors and opposite wall, staining carpet badly, for a number of years. I had had numerous contractors over to try and fix the problem -- adding more and more layers of sealant outside where the stucco met the patio tile and/or concrete pathway down the side of the house. Nothing seemed to work. Jeff Bressler was the only specialized waterproofing contractor I found on Angie's List -- I was so impressed with his diagnosis of the problem and his prospective solutions, that I hired him on without getting any competitive bids. Jeff and his crew were professional and efficient from start to finish. I really felt I was in competent and professional hands for the first time. He not only completely fixed the problem, but ended up re-doing and fixing shoddy work of prior contractors, including the shoddy original installation of the sliding doors which had caused most of the water problems. I'm no construction expert, but I was there most of the time and could see, step by step, the quality work that was being done, and the top notch, quality materials being used. Jeff's crew were prompt, courteous and cleaned up well behind them. They were in constant touch with Jeff, and he would come over regularly to the jobsite to inspect progress and trouble shoot any problems -- and there were a few once the doors were out and things were more exposed. The finishing stucco and painting were excellent -- you can't tell where the old meets the new at all. I also much appreciated the (unpaid!) time Jeff took to answer other questions I had about the house, give the house a quick inspection all round, and give me suggestions on what to do to further waterproof and improve the house. JAB does a lot of commercial waterproofing work besides residential -- they are top-notch all round, and I would not hesitate to use them again and recommend them to anyone else.

I gave a copy of the design to a representative from Adam's Pools and he said he'd get back to me with a quote.  He also mentioned that they actually did the plaster work for the full service company who did the initial proposal.  Several weeks past and I didn't receive a quote.  I contacted the sales person and he said he'd get back to me soon.  Another week or so passed and I contacted him again, he said he needed another week to work out the details for the waterfall.  Yet another week passed and no quote.  I didn't bother to contact them again since it was obvious they weren't interested in the project.  They also of course never returned the copy of the plans I provided them with.  I can see not wanting to place a competitive bid against a company you partner with, but say so in the beginning and don't lead me on for several weeks only to never get back to me.

Received fixed price quote for the job. All went well until I was told they would need more money to cover removal of part of the decking which was included in the quote. What a surprise! Then there were threats. I see lots of other happy customers listed here, but this was an awful experience. Not recommended.

The person from this company came over to give me a quote, but instead he took a look at the problem and told me what to do to fix the problem. I experience I had with him was excellent. I would definitely contact them when I have a problem. They guy that came was very honest and helpful. He did not charge me anything for the advice he gave me.

There comes those rare instances when you have an all around good experience from a very large and complex project. I can gladly say my dealings with Art Sirota is one of those times. My wife and I purchased a large lot with a home that was built in 1921 in Menlo Park. Suffice it to say, it needed updating. My project involved a complete remodel and some tear down of the existing property. Before starting the project, I interviewed no less then 6 recommended contractors from various sources such as Yelp.com, message boards, and of course here on Angies list. My wife and I came away from the interviews feeling the best about Art Sirota. He was up front, honest, and detailed oriented often pointing out many things we were not aware about the project. As the project commenced, we found him always available to address concerns and resolve issues or problems. Some of the detailed things that really impressed us were: Arts level of communication and commitment to the project. He started right away and his crew and staff were always courteous, professional and tried to make us happy. The whole project lasted about 4 months and through out the whole time Art was consistent in his approach to dealing with any issues that came up. He always dealt with matter in a constructive and fair way. In the end we were able to meet our budget and Art was accommodating to our concerns. Arts work was top quality and fairly priced. His staff was very organized and clean. We have now moved into the property and I can enthusiastically say we are very pleased. I would recommend Art Sirota for any project, large or small. He has restored my confidence in contractors and I would happily use him again for any future projects. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at paulchua@yahoo.com
