    SOD Builders
Many thanks to SOD builders and mainly Allen and the actual people that were involved in our remodeling, for the excellent remodeling job that they did at our house. The remodeling project included the full remodeling of our house and it included the kitchen. Bathrooms, back yard, front yard, bedrooms and hallways. The work changed completely the house and we love it very much! Allen and his crew did such a professional work and each part of it was done with extra care and attention. During the work and even after, Allen was there for us to answer any of our questions or concerns, meeting us at various vendors and helped us selecting and choosing all the materials, appliances and paint. He used his skills and experience to advise us on all the many available options for many issues that raised during the work! We would refer SOD builders to anyone looking to convert their house space into something stunning!

Z7 Team Powered By Baseline Construction
We are very happy with our house, and our experience with Joe. We interviewed multiple contractors - Joe was straightforward, friendly, gave his honest opinions, and was knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done and the area our house was in. We liked that he has his own team, so we saw the same guys working at our house all the time, and got to know the crew. Joe and his team did everything they could to achieve our vision for the house, suggesting ways around problems that popped up as we opened walls, and giving us pros and cons as we made decisions. He always listened to how we wanted things done, and if anything got mixed up in the execution, ensured the team made it right (for example they installed the wrong handles on the closet door but had it fixed within a day). Joe also went above and beyond after the team had technically finished, coming back to fix minor things as we encountered them upon move-in (a drip in the shower head, patching a spot we knicked moving furniture in). He was even kind enough to come out and replace the fuse in our furnace when we blew it trying to install a smart thermostat, despite him warning us prior to be careful about that very thing. :) We are 98% thrilled with the work Joe and his team did - our house is beautiful, and even more importantly, up to code, sturdy and safe. The other 2% is because we are perfectionists, so there are a couple things here and there in the final finishing touches that were rushed at the last minute and we wish were more precise (things like crooked door handles, backsplash that is just a millimeter or two short of the counter edge, faint paint splatter on the wood floors in one corner). Overall, we highly recommend Joe - his construction knowledge, years of experience, and awesome team made for a smooth project despite it's large scale. We can't believe this beautiful house is ours to live in. Thank you Joe!

    Left Coast Contractors
I'm leaving a review for Jacob's other company, Bay Area Whole House Fans, since I can't find it on Angie's List. It's a fantastic product for the cool nights of the Bay Area that not enough people know about. It's a fairly simple install and it went smoothly. I'm happy with the fan and happy with the work.

Service Champions Heating & Air Conditioning
The inspection process was amazingly effortless on my part!
Thomas got a real workout  from 2 crawl spaces and an attic in a 3 story, 3000 sq ft house built on a hill.
Both Thomas and Joel insisted on donning red slippers every time they entered my house.
Prior to the scheduled appointments the office phoned to give me the name of the expected individual which I appreciated.
    I reiterate the above;
Thomas Smith (no, not an alias),  Service Champion Specialist performed the
furnace inspections (2) checked all of the duct work in the crawl spaces (2)
and the attic and took pictures which were extremely valuable to me to be able
to see the problem areas that I will not venture into. All of the ducts needed
joint sealing and repair to the insulation. There were two major problem ducts,
one completely separated and the other had a crack at the junction. With these two
faults, measuring the negative pressure in the systems was a moot point. He measured
and assessed the positive pressures within the two furnace systems. Again, he
took pictures of the equipment, ducting and test equipment readouts.  The best part was when Thomas took out his Thermal
Camera and used the laser pointer to show me areas of heat from insufficient insulation.
He explained his findings and asked how I wanted to proceed. We had discussed
adding AC to both furnaces and he said that another Service Champions
Specialist would come out to a**** the needs and possibilities for our 1991
heating systems. Thomas offered an MVP plan of scheduled maintenance to ensure
that our present system (never cleaned in 17 years) and future systems would
always function properly. A quick phone call to his office and the appointment
was set for the next day.
Joel A. took measurements for fitting in new furnaces,
confirmed sizes of blowers, and assessed the area for compressors and new 220
wiring to update to current code.
He explained the size and efficiency of the three levels of
proposed Lennox units and the benefits of each, and calculated the price and savings
over time. The decision was ours, no pressure, no sign on the line. Joel
explained the added warranty the company has, service guaranties and response
times to MVP members. The quoted price would never increase even if they run into unexpected issues during installation.
This company has high moral values and wants to be the best
in their area. They obviously have selected these men and trained them very
    well in their respective fields.
    They certainly have my vote.
Angie's List Deals allowed me to pre screen and select the company I want in my house.
I would have paid full price had I known I was going to have "celebrity" treatment.
With the preview performance of Thomas and Joel, how can you go wrong with a company that selects their employees with such care?
The estimated cost of 2 units and repair of the present duct work will
be about $35,000 . I don't need to interview any other company.

They had to do a lot more work. They were excellent. I told the guy that I work a lot and I’m never here. The guy said he could make it out today, I couldn’t believe it. They left everything spotless. They were here from11am-9pm. They showed me the before and after pictures. It was amazing.

    Advanced Home Energy
I purchased a deal on Angie's List, and it was a bad idea.  They were very prompt at showing up to my house and doing the work for the audit, but they were unresponsive in getting me the actual report.  I contacted them multiple times over the following 2 months, and I finally got the report 2 months later (after I had given up and started working with another firm).
I am very disappointed in the quality of this company and wish I could get my money back.

    Ryan Peacock Inc.
We engaged RPI Inc on a large scale restoration of our house after water damage for two reasons - they seemed to have an eye for quality and they could work at the same level of detail as the insurance company.
From a work perspective, people have not turned up as expected and jobs did not get started as promised. And when the workers did turn up we got fed up with their cigarette butts and half eaten food being left all over the place.
As time drifted on we started to do some of the work ourselves since we want to get back in the house. And even though we did these activities Ryan insists that he still gets paid for the work.
We started to get requests for draws that included numerous items that had not been started. To this day we remain in dispute over this with Ryan insisting that we should pay for work that he has not started or has not finished.
In short our experience has been a nightmare that has made the whole incident even worse than it already was.
Steer clear and use the Insurance Company preferred vendor since that will at least get you some leverage..

    RJL Installations
Once again they showed up on the wrong day. Scheduling correctly is a problem by phone, use email.  Last job they did not take the old insulation they removed, but that may have been a misunderstanding.  Other than that things went well, I am happy with the products and quality of installation. The guys are polite and do a reasonable job of cleanup.

    ABC Cooling & Heating
The audit itself went fine, it sounds like they were pretty thorough.  However, the part that really rubbed me the wrong way was when the sales person came to deliver the results.  Rather than presenting me with the best way to increase the energy efficiency of my house, he seemed to only be interested in singling out the type of work which would get me the biggest rebate, regardless of how well it would increase efficiency.
I was looking for the best way to save money on my engergy bills long term, but was given just short term solutions geared toward getting me the biggest rebate (which wouldn't help nearly enough in the long run to offset the tens of thousands of dollars these jobs would cost.)
