Carpet Installation reviews in Woodside

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Many thanks to SOD builders and mainly Allen and the actual people that were involved in our remodeling, for the excellent remodeling job that they did at our house. The remodeling project included the full remodeling of our house and it included the kitchen. Bathrooms, back yard, front yard, bedrooms and hallways. The work changed completely the house and we love it very much! Allen and his crew did such a professional work and each part of it was done with extra care and attention. During the work and even after, Allen was there for us to answer any of our questions or concerns, meeting us at various vendors and helped us selecting and choosing all the materials, appliances and paint. He used his skills and experience to advise us on all the many available options for many issues that raised during the work! We would refer SOD builders to anyone looking to convert their house space into something stunning!

  • Ray came out right away, gave me a quote on the spot and honored that quote even when the job was significantly more time consuming than he originally thought. He did excellent work and we got many compliments on the carpeting that following Sunday. Ray was ultra-professional, extremely friendly and customer-service oriented. If I ever had another carpeting job, he's the only phone call I would make.

  • Carlos and Fernando were easy to work with and very responsive to my questions and concerns.  I am very happy with the slate, tile and wood floors cleaning/sealing projects.  My hardwoods were especially difficult as a previous owner had put down and removed double-sided carpet tape which stripped the wood completely.  They didn't get them back to perfect, but they look oodles better than they did before and in most cases are now barely noticeable.  I have already recommended the service to others.

  • It went very well. Alan was a professional throughout. When we hadn't fully thought through some of our ideas he had good advice. The workers made a concerted effort to clean the work site everyday. Alan made every effort to ensure that everything was done right the first time, and his quality control was excellent.
During the shower work they had gotten to the point of almost finishing with the wall tiles. That's when I noticed, (I wasn't paying enough attention) that because of the required lining of mortar on the walls, the shower was going to smaller, 3-4 in total reduction in width and length. This made the shower very claustrophobic. Alan and I discussed the options and I decided that the width should be increased. Even though it would add an additional week and additional cost. Alan was very accommodating and the workers comments said a lot about their attitude, "No worries, only solutions".
The new shower is fantastic! Modern, roomy, and comfortable. The deck came out great. Alan even arranged for one of his workers to help us unload the PackRat container so we could return it within one month so we wouldn't have to pay for an additional month.
There is additional work that I will call on Alan for in the future.

  • It was amazing at how pretty the rugs looked when they brought them back!   Obviously I need to clean the rugs more frequently which I will definitely do and always us Lewis Carpet Cleaners.  Estimates and services were provided at the time promised and everyone there is so polite and nice!!

  • From the first contact with Jim until the last room was laid, we were very pleased with Conklin Brothers. Not living in this area but helping out my parents, I consulted Angie's List. This is where I found the great reviews on Conklin Brothers. My need was immediate. I was bringing my father home on hospice. Within one week, the carpet was  measured, ordered and laid. I was so impressed with the value and timely response I asked Jim to come out and do the little cottage. Another great job with excellent results. Thank you Jim

  • Luis and Hugo came and moved furniture and installed the carpet on Monday,Sept 30, 2013.  They worked in a very orderly and knowing fashion, but were attentive to any questions we might have.
Jim Kiddle phoned on Friday, Oct 4, 2013 to ask how the installation went and did I have any questions.

  • Conklin Brothers lived up to the A rating on Angie's List, both for sales and installations. With the ten percent Senior Discount, it actually undersold the bid from the firm that Costco was using, California Carpet. That was a pleasant surprise. Jerry Phillips came to the house punctually and measured. Thirteen years with Conklin, highly professional. In contrast to his competitor, he drew a whole floor plan on graph paper, and when asked why he wasn't using an electronic gun to measure, gave a learned explanation of the flaws of that method, and why he still used tape though it took longer. He brought samples. We went to the San Mateo showroom on June 25 to see him to make a final selection. Large, uncrowded attractive showroom with a million choices. No pressure. Though Conklin only offers Angie's List a five percent discount, I used the ten percent senior discount, and Jerry gave us a good price. We checked to see that the carpet was in stock because we didn't want to wind up doing it when our relatives were visiting. Jerry said no problem and put the carpet on reserve. To our dismay, when the dispatcher contacted us, they had scheduled it for July 13, exactly when our relatives were coming. We immediately contacted Jerry and said the dispatcher was about to blow the perfect Angie's List rating. Jerry made calls, and the dispatcher rescheduled it for Saturday the 6th, even though that was the 4th of July weekend (probably the problem in the first place.) So Conklin was as good as its word. Mario and Pedro arrived exactly on time. Mario has about 15 years of experience at Conklin Brothers. That's a good sign. Cheerful, powerful guys. They worked nonstop, except for a half hour lunch break, working from 8 in the morning to 630 at night. They carried furniture all over the place, and when we showed them an enormous couch that had to come down a circular staircase, Mario only said, and quot;Piece of cake.and quot; Mario renailed the floor once the old carpet was off it, nailing down and then screwing down (at my request) squeaking boards. He cut carpet into correct pieces from complicated looking floor plans. The circular stairs change shape slightly as they go down. This is not for amateurs. Excellent job.
Always cheerful and professional though it was fast, nonstop physical effort and 90 degrees that day. Doors were open so a/c didn't help much. Such hard work and they did us favors, even moved a solid electronic piano up the circular stairs, heavy as lead, we gave each $30 tip. They hadn't expected it, we just wanted to. Highest praise for Jerry and Mario and for Angie's List too. A good recommendation. They even turned out cheaper than the California Carpet/ Costco bid, with our discount.

  • We had the option to move our own furniture out of the bedrooms and this helped to reduce the amount of time the installation took. The 3-person crew arrived on time and were very careful in removing the old carpet to minimize collected dust on the fibers and padding. They swept all floor areas and checked carefully for the condition of the old tack strips, floor condition and corners. They found one room to have an uneven area where a prior closet used to exist. This created a 1and quot; difference from the rest of the floor. Rather than delaying the project, they immediately gave me options on how they could remedy the problem and once I decided what I wanted, they went directly to Home Depot to buy plywood to fill in the floor gap. They travel to job sites with additional tools in case they need to customize a flooring installation they can do it on the spot. It added an hour to the installation but they finished the same day and everything looked great. They even measured and cut out a section of carpeting for a closet that had a heavy item we could not move with a specialized lift so that it could be installed by the buyer of our home. The installers were very polite, they swept the driveway where they cut the plywood and carried away all debris.

The carpet looks fantastic, feels great to walk on and added a valuable selling feature for when we put our house on the market.

  • These guys did a great job from start to finish. They were able to come same-day to quote, and the estimate was a full $1000 less than another highly-rated competitor in the area. I was slightly concerned that something would suffer at such a competitive price. but it didn't - the installers were very professional and the carpet was installed very well (edges, trim work around stairs, etc. was perfect!). I would highly recommend this company.
