  • They were super professional. The inspection, work appointments and clean up all were on schedule. The only delay in finishing was due to the City inspector being a day late because of July 4 holiday, not Alpha's fault. The final inspector was really impressed with the work. They cleaned up very well, and even put concrete into the stucco gap after jacking the wall up, which was not on the original work bid. The two workers, Juan and Vicente, did a pretty amazing job, given how hot it was those days and the very tight quarters they had to work in.

  • They disapoeared for weeks at a time, a job that should take 6 weeks took over 6 months to complete. Had to fire the first project manager because of substance abuse, lies and overall inefficiency. After they were gone, discovered the sewage line was not completed and plumbing was done wrong and caused a $6,000 plumbing repair to fix and complete ( had a flood in the bathroom and entrance way that cost an additional $3,000 to repair!). The electrical work was done improperly and the light switches and wall plugs had to be redone. A nightmare!!!

  • Who works on a Holiday?  This company sent a technician who was on call
on that day (he was at a 4th of July family party) and he promptly
responded.  We were in need of urgent services and he came to fix the
problem!  He was our hero for the day (we could now shower!).  He was
friendly and the job took about 1 hour.

Will walked around the perimeter with me, as many of the contractors did, pointing out and showing the necessary issues, and the same on the interior of the house. But he went a step further and actually realigned my sliding glass door so that it would shut properly. I was very impressed with his skill and his kindness.
Will explained that he would put in place at the foundation and push helical piers down 10? to secure the room and the back end of the
house. Then he would cut out the old slab up to 3 to 4?from the perimeter, drill and secure the new rebar into the remaining slab at the perimeter, and level everything out. He then would slowly lift the room just a little and fill in the underneath gap with slush cement. He also, at the far corner of the patio which is attached to the house, was going to lift it slightly and force slush cement underneath to keep it from settling again. I liked the idea of the new slab and covering all the bases even the patio.
Although I decided to wait until the spring and make another evaluation of my problem at that time, I want to recommend Will Crawford very highly. He went out of his way to help and assist at every level. His knowledge and professionalism was outstanding. His company,
CXC Contracting, would be an excellent choice for anyone with a foundation problem.

  • Laird walked me around the perimeter pointing out and showing the necessary issues, and then did the same on the interior of the house. He answered any and all the questions I had. I was very impressed with this company and how they would drive their push piers down to bedrock to secure the area effected, how they would lift this area back to original position as far as feasibly possible and then would fill in the underneath gap with polylevel and seal the underside of the cracked foundation. It is a great concept and is proven to work extremely well. They even give a 25 year warranty. Although I decided to wait until the spring and make another evaluation of my problem at that time, I can't recommend this company highly enough. Laird and Charlie Lot went out of their way to help and assist at several times and to do all they could to make this a positive situation for everyone. Saber should be high on anyone's list who has a foundation problem.

  • I spoke with Mark who was a completely professional.  He assessed the property and stated that I did not have any structural foundation issues as I had been nervously considering for at least 2 months.  But not only that - he furthermore gave me advice on other issues that I might want to look into - none of which would have economically benefitted him, so I was much thankful to get advice coming from this man who is in the industry and had nothing to gain.  He furthermore wrote me an email to his evaluation and suggestions.  Very thourough, very helpful and I would use them in a sec if I needed them for any work to be done.  Without question.

  • Came out and took a look at the entire foundation.  Another contractor had looked at it and advised there were a number of cracks and also needed to be bolted down.  California Foundation Works advised there was only the one crack, estimated it to be a $500 job.  Upon doing the job determined it did not need as much fixative as estimated and lowered the cost to $350.  Can't ask for anything more than that.  He could have left it at the estimate and pocketed additional profit.

  • It was fine. It was pretty easy to get them scheduled to come in, probably within a week. I don’t think I got all the necessary paperwork for the foundation report. So I didn’t think the foundation report was very thorough. The report wasn’t very detailed as I would have liked, it was very basic; just one paragraph and that was it. The price was good.

  • They promised the crew would arrive on 12/13/13 by 8:30am. They arrived on time and were polite professional. I knew the work order in front of them was hard, and they came prepared. Before starting, they noticed that instead of 4 pins needing to be replaced/repaired, it was actually 6. Apparently Tristan missed two. They had the office contact me and Mayo (my point of contact there) swiftly gave me an estimate for this additional work. At a very fair price, I agreed and the large crew of hard-working men went to work, seamlessly and tirelessly for the next 8 hours. Despite their best efforts, they didn't finish the scope of the work in a single day. No matter, they came back the very next day (a Saturday) and finished the work in a professional and timely fashion. They left little-to-no mess, other than some extra concrete that made it's way into my grass (no big deal, obviously).

Mayo was great during this process. She informed me that they'd come back out to meet with the City's inspector on the following Tuesday. Sure enough, their employee, Javier, arrived on time and was very friendly and professional. He walked through my property and noticed I had no smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. (Oops!) Quickly, he rushed to his truck and grabbed some and installed them throughout my home, before the City's inspector arrived. Otherwise, we might not have passed inspection. The City's inspector was here for all of 2 minutes as Javier quickly led them around the property. No hassle here at all.

As it stands now, they're going to schedule a time to come back out to review the work and inspect it for quality. They're also going to give me an estimate for leveling 1 room in my house (the ceiling is splitting/cracking) as well as an estimate to replace my roof, which is well past it's point of expiration.

Thus far I've been very pleased with Julian Construction and would recommend them to anyone needing foundation work. I'll likely use them for my leveling and roofing work orders as well, depending on their pricing.

  • I can't compliment Baum construction enough.  I was newly pregnant with our first child and decided to completely remodel our home for the baby. I'm insane...
Deadline was my due date as I wanted everything ready for our new arrival :)
Deadline kept getting pushed back further and further as we needed extra time to gather the funds.  Baum was able to complete our entire project in A LOT less time than originally estimated AND under budget!!!
His entire crew was sensitive to the fact I was under pressure to have the home complete on time. I really got attached to everyone through out the process.
Not only were they able to meet and exceed the deadline we had a lot of bumps in the road with our older home.  the original design of the house is rather creative back in 1952.
I really loved how we were able to come up with alternate plans that didn't interfere with the asthetics of our home.  Baum construction stands by their work and continues to make sure we are happy with all the projects that were done.  I really appreciate that!
Our baby came home to more space and a safer environment for her to enjoy!  I really love our home and will continue to recommend Michael Baum and use him for future projects.
