    The Ivy Builders
Ivy Builders were absolutely amazing to work with! My husband and I were not only new to the renovation world, but also first time home owners. We interviewed several contractors before moving ahead with Tal. Tal and his team helped us fully remodel our kitchen, our master bathroom, and half bath, and we are thrilled with the results! From the moment we hired Tal, we felt confident in his abilities and expertise. He made us feel comfortable asking questions and really helped us along each step of the way. We really appreciated his attention to detail. He has wonderful contacts at various vendors that were a joy to work with. Also, Tal has excellent communication - I mean it, his response time is lightning quick! We trusted Tal & his team so much that we even felt comfortable taking off to Europe for a few weeks and leaving the renovation in his hands. He sent us daily progress photos and notes to keep us in the loop. All in all, there were minimal hiccups, and we came in on budget and on time. We would 100% hire Ivy Builders again for our next project!

    Shenon Construction
Tom and his crew were amazing! After hearing so many nightmare construction stories we were very apprehensive on our first major remodel. After a lot of research we decided to go with Tom and we were not disappointed! Right from the start he was very patient with us, suggested great solutions that were practical, beautiful and cost effective. When the work began every single person we dealt with was punctual, communicative and clearly cared about the quality of the work they did with great attention to detail. The work was delivered on time, on budget and we are thrilled with how everything look. What a great find ... will definitely hire again!

    Shenon Construction
I met with several general contractors and did a lot of research in advance of my huge home reno project -- remodeling an entire kitchen, 3 bathrooms, new hardwood flooring, paint, and lights throughout a 2000 sqft townhouse. Out of everyone I met, Tom seemed the most honest and straightforward about how much everything would cost (and how long it would take). Even though I had lower bids, I ended up going with Tom just because of a gut feeling. I am so glad I did. Tom and his team were super professional and communicative throughout. I can't count how many dumb questions I had during this process -- Not only were they kind and patient, they took the time to go above and beyond in explaining what they were doing and making sure to do things the right way. Any time I had a problem or concern, it was addressed right away. Any additional costs (there were very few, and most were related to new services I wanted to add) were communicated to me immediately. There were a few hiccups during the project, all related to overzealous inspectors, but there were no surprises from Tom or his team. Even with all the delays caused by the city, they completed all the work they had promised within 3 months and I was able to move in. Tom and his team went out of their way to make sure everything was done right. When I was concerned about leaks coming in through the windows (something outside the original parameters of the contract we agreed on), Tom actually had his guys do a leak test for me to alleviate my concerns. He noticed the kitchen cabinets were not closing in a certain way and had the cabinet makers come back in and fix them (I hadn't even noticed a problem). He replaced a set of painters when he said they weren't doing a good enough job -- something that I surely could not discern -- and something that he didn't need to admit. I appreciated that he was honest and forthcoming the whole time, and that he was as invested as I was in making sure every single little thing was done right. The whole team was kind and respectful of the neighbors, who gamely put up with construction for 3 months. One of my neighbors even complimented the construction team -- and asked for their contact info! It's pretty telling when you can win over the neighbors after putting up with week after week of construction noise. I've heard a lot of construction horror stories, but I only had a positive experience. I was beyond impressed by the entire team -- plumbing, electrical, finishing -- and so happy with the final result (even if I had concerns and was asking a million questions along the way). I cannot recommend Tom and Shenon Construction enough. He has been fantastic to work with over the past few months and I would not hesitate to hire him again. I hope you can tell from the before/after pictures what an absolute transformation it has been. Thanks again Tom!

    JJ Marble Restoration
JJ really saved us. We had purchased a new drop-in kitchen sink which did not fit into the granite opening on the countertop. JJ masterfully and precisely cut the granite opening to the exact measurement allowing for the kitchen sink to be installed. He was very diligent about protecting the rest of kitchen from granite duct. He is punctual, responsive and polite and competent. His prices are very reasonable and competitive.

    KN Remodeling & Supplies Inc
Nathan and his crew started almost immediately and finished on schedule. They were responsive and approachable and ready to tackle any problems that arose during the project. Always nerve wracking to deal with contractors but KN remodeling made it easy and performed as expected. The tile work was excellent, the demo was quick, and the cabinets were gorgeous. The entire crew were very professional and courteous.

    Butel Construction Inc
We hired Butel for a major renovation of our home, including a complete kitchen remodel, two bathroom remodels, new floors, and a new deck. We looked at 3 other contractors and felt that estimate provided by Butel was the most detailed and professional. Shai, the owner, is an extremely honest person who charges fair prices. They are not the cheapest, but they are also not the most expensive. At your first meeting, Tom will come and do a detailed review of the work you want performed. At this meeting, Tom had the great idea of completely moving the location of the master bath and closet to more efficiently use the space in our master bedroom. The other contractors did not make this suggestion and we greatly appreciated Tom's input and ideas. After the contract is signed, Shai takes over. Shai oversees the projects overall, but day-to-day, we had a project manager, Miguel, on site. Both Shai and Miguel are extremely responsive and professional. Shai went to the site almost daily during the most critical phase of the project. We worked closely for over 6 months. As with all construction projects, unexpected issues will come up and things will get delayed and it is often stressful. Shai and his team did their best to complete the job on time and resolve problems as they arose. If something new needed to be added to the job, we always received a new detailed addition to the contract. As for the subcontactors used by Shai, some are better than others. Angel, the tile guy, is extremely detailed oriented and did a wonderful job tiling our kitchen, fireplace, and bathrooms. The people who installed our floors also did a great job. The painters were not good. We had to have them come back multiple times to do touch ups and I am still unhappy with some of it, as there are many uneven spots and the paint is cracking in some places. One other minor complaint is that once 90-95% of the job is finished, it is sometimes difficult to get the small details and handyman-type issues fixed. After 9 months of living here, we have small issues like towel rack is now falling off the wall. Those are some of the small details that can be improved, but we are extremely happy overall with the quality of the work. We have recommended Butel to our friends and family and We have plans in 2017 to have Butel renovation our garage.

    Andrew Lauren Interiors
It went horribly. Almost three months after the initial installation, I have a piece of plywood sitting in one space of my kitchen (for a counter) and another counter top hanging lopsided, about 2" off the edge of my cabinet. I needed to put my home on the market a month ago and cannot do so until my situation is resolved. I have been in contact with Andrew lauren via phone calls and email every week since the issue arose.
In August I ordered solid surface counters (Himacs) from Home Depot and thereby was required to use their contractor, Andrew Lauren.  My first interaction with Andrew Lauren was with the employee/IC who came out to measure. This employee, though very friendly, talked non-stop, did not appear to be paying attention to his work, and solicited a $100 "tip" from me by telling me that is what he got from the previous homeowner. Although I had my doubts about this person and his accuracy, I felt pressured to tip him, and when I did I was thanked for the "Pizza Money for my kids".
At the time of installation, the two workers revealed that they did not have a counter top for my small "breakfast bar counter (36 7/8" x 14").  The measurement person never told me he wasn't measuring that space, (He only asked me if i was going to demo it. He then proceed to tell me how easy demo would be). At no point did he tell me that he was not measuring it, although I cannot recall if it was depicted in his final "drawings".  He talked non stop, and often about non-sequitur things while trying to get me to approve the "drawings", it was very distracting.
The workers finished the other counters and asked me to inspect. the work and sign off, while we all stood in the kitchen, which is a slightly narrow "walk through" type kitchen. I did not notice that they had installed one counter off-center, leaving it with a 2 inch overhang on one side and no over hang on the other side, until they left. I discovered it that evening when i could not open the freezer side of my refrigerator. I promptly called my Home Depot sales person, Daniel, who said he would look into it. Andrew Lauren agreed to come back out to my home the next Saturday. They never showed up, but they claim they did. Both myself  and my fiance were home the entire day and no one ever arrived at our building or called us.
When I called to ask why they didn't show up, i was told they did show up. Impasse was effected on the matter, however no one ever- at any time- offered to send another representative out.
Next I asked about the small breakfast bar counter and was told that their records show that I did not ask for that to be included (Home Depot confirm this). The final receipt shows that I did not pay for the Breakfast bar counter.  I gave some thought to alternative materials because I needed to get the work done in early October, but was told by a realtor that I needed to have this piece match the rest of the counter. So I sought out Daniel (at Home depot) again to try and order the breakfast bar counter.  Based on its size and materials, it should have costed about $200. Home Depot informed me that they could not submit an order for less than $1,000. I explained to Home Depot that  this circumstance was unacceptable because (a) Andrew Lauren's measurement team was at fault for not originally measuring the area,  that the measurer was unprofessional, and that (b)  the other counter still needs to be corrected by Andrew Lauren. Home Depot was unable to convince Andrew Lauren to fix my problems.
When i called Andrew Lauren directly, I was told that they sent someone out to look at the "over-hang" counter, but I was not there. I disagree with this characterization, as I was there, and have a witness to prove that. Nevertheless, They refused to come back out to look at or correct the over-hang counter, because "they had already been there".
Additionally, they told me they would not correct the breakfast bar counter situation unless I spent $1,000. They refuse to take any orders under $1000. I suspect Andrew Lauren ignores complaint because they would have to newly fabricate a 24" x 24" counter to correct the first error, and they don't want to buy a whole slab from their manufacturer.  I suspect that because when I called Andrew Lauren I was told they would not fabricate/install the breakfast bar counter because they don;t want to pay for a whole slab.
After fruitless efforts with Home depot I called Andrew Lauren and spoke to Jamie. Desperate to get anything done, I offered a compromise. I suggested that if they just fabricate the 36 7/8"x14" breakfast bar counter, I would forego my complaint about the first issue and do the installation myself if they would just get me the piece. She told me they would not do it, because they don't want to order a whole slab. I asked her to check with her warehouse for any remnants. She agreed to do this, and that she would call me the next day.
Jamie called to tell me there were no remnants and they could do nothing for me. I argued that was unacceptable and that I needed correction of my problem. The matter is compounded by the fact that this product (HiMacs solid surface counters) is ONLY sold through Home Depot and only installed by Andrew Lauren. There is no one else I can go to.
THUS, I  sent a long email to "Mark N" at Andrew Lauren (found his contact info on their website), explaining my problem and proposed compromise. I promptly (the same day) received a call from Jamie where she stated "Home depot will take care of you."
That same day I contacted Daniel at Home Depot who responded the next day, telling me he had not received a call from Jamie or Andrew Lauren. He called them himself and he said that Jamie told him they never agreed to fabricate my breakfast bar counter.
Last week I sent an email to the Andrew Lauren president, J Salveson, describing my problem.  J Salveson has not responded to me in anyway and my situation remains unresolved. I would like my 24"x24" counter fixed to eliminate the overhang and I want my breakfast bar counter (36 7/8" x 14') counter fabricated. I am happy to pay the additional $200 for the breakfast bar, but the other piece has to be at their cost.
I don't know who else to turn to. I cannot even show my home with this plywood counter top in my brand new kitchen.

    Stone Restoration
There were deep stains in the granite. David recommended a poultice product to draw out the stains. Because it was simple but time consuming, he suggested I do it myself. The product worked great and was easy to apply/remove. David then came back and sealed the counters with 3 coats of sealer. Looks great and water now beads on the surface. I highly recommend David/Stone Restoration.

    Preferred Home Builders Inc
I was dreading remodeling 2 bathrooms, but everyone at Preferred made this much easier than I ever anticipated.  From the beginning, Shai Reb had great ideas on how to best use the space in the bathrooms and sent us to the right stores to buy fixtures, vanity and tile.  We didn't waste time driving all over the city, and we were well treated at all the places he recommended. Shai even moderated a few heated conversations between my husband and myself.
The day demolition was to start bedrooms,  hallway, bookshelves and stairs were draped in plastic to keep the dust down.  They carefully protected my foyer floor and carpet.  Any bangs or holes that were made during construction were carefully patched and painted at the end.  The patched walls look better than they did before construction started.
Before and during construction Hadas Agassi called from the office regularly to make sure we knew what the work schedule was and to check that everything was going as we hoped.  I've done remodeling projects with other contractors and, believe me, you never find someone to talk to when you have a question.  Hadas and Shai were always only a call, email or text away.
The construction crew was professional, punctual, talented and worked unbelievably hard to complete the bathrooms on the tight schedule we were trying to meet.  Every remodel has its unexpected problems, and ours was no different.  In one bathroom the air conditioning vent was in the way of moving a drain and in the other, we decided we had to turn the shower and tub around after the rough plumbing was already installed.  No problem.  Shai and the guys came up with solutions, did the work and did not charge us anything extra.  I was actually shocked.
Our bathrooms are beautiful, and my sanity is intact.  Even with the unexpected challenges, the bathrooms were done ahead of schedule.  I cannot recommend Preferred Builders highly enough.  I would never think of calling anyone for future home improvement projects except Shai.
