Septic Tank Cleaning reviews in West Hollywood

    Watson Plumbing
Today Watson Plumbing saved the day for us. This was the third time in 6 years. The first two times in my previous house: first, a complete clean out of our sewer blocked by tree roots. Second, connecting our house to the main sewer and filling up our septic tank. Both jobs done professionally and expeditiously with meticulous clean up. Yesterday my sewer backed up and I texted Matt Picard from Watson Plumbing. They showed up exactly on time, snaked the line, did a video inspection to find the problem areas, identified significant root problems in the main (city) line too, re-snaked the remaining area, and cleaned up. Matt also recommended I consider some work to prevent future problems. Their work is thorough, careful, and with 21st century tools.

    The Drain Dudes
Called 10 minutes before the arrival window and cancelled because my street was too windy for their truck.  I understand that this happens but just wish they had figured that out before I drove home early from work.  The driver was polite and apologetic.

    RICHARD'S ROOTER & PLUMBING
I discovered that the main sewage line in my home was blocked.  None of the 3 toilets in my house would flush.  I know nothing about plumbing.
I called a couple different plumbers but Richard was the only one who could come out that day.  He showed up an hour or so later and I explained the issue.  He told me that he would have to snake the drain and hopefully that would solve the problem.  It would be a minimum of $99 for him to walk through my front door.  I agreed as I was desperate and needed someone to resolve the issue immediately.
He walked around my home looking for the clean out access so he could get his snake in and clear the blockage.  He immediately struck me as kind of an odd fellow who was not very friendly but I thought nothing of it.  He found the clean out that was furthest from the street and immediately told me that he wouldn't be able to snake properly because the clean out was the wrong size and it would be $600 to fix it and snake the pipe.  He would have to come back the next morning to fix it and then he would be able to snake it.  I reluctantly agreed because I didn't have any other choice at this time.
The next day he come back, switches the size of the clean out and sends the snake down the pipe.  He comes back to me 10 minutes later and tells me that he can't unclog the drain.  He suspects major root damage and blockage that can not be fixed using what he claims is the most expensive, top of the line snake money can buy.  There aren't any trees in the vicinity so I was reluctant to believe that roots were the problem.  The only other option is for $250 he can put his camera down there to access the situation. 5 minutes later he tells me that the camera can't see anything.  Really???
He tells me through the sensor in the camera he pin pointed exactly where the clog is and has to be caused by root.  The clog is right outside my front door, 1.5 feet below an 8 inch concrete slab.  He will have to jack hammer through the concrete and then he will be able to tell me what's actually going on.  Costing me $1000s.  I ask him to try and snake it one more time to see if he can unclog it. Richard then tells me it will be another $150 to put the snake back down!!!
At this point I've already paid him $850 dollars and he has fixed absolutely nothing.  I try to explain that I've already paid him to snake the pipe and he spent 5 minutes doing that maybe he should put it back down there to complete the job I've already paid for.
This is when it turned really ugly.  He starts slinging accusations at me and became rude, aggressive and threatening.  I immediately asked him to leave my property as the situation escalated I began to fear for my safety.  This man is not to be trusted.  My business partner was at my home and witnessed the exchange.  Richard was yelling and calling me all kinds of names.  Telling me I know nothing about plumbing (obviously).  He figured that since I have a nice house he could squeeze me for all the money he could.
I paid him the $250 for the completely useless camera  just so he would leave my property.
After he left I called Mr. Speedy Plumbing who came up to my house within 2 hours and cleared the pipe within 15 minutes and charged me $185 for everything.  The found the proper clean out that was closer to the clog the Richard looked at the day before and told me was not a clean out but a termite extermination chamber.   He obviously doesn't have the experience he claims.
Bottom line - STAY AWAY FROM RICHARDS ROOTER AND PLUMBING.  A rip off and an aggressive disrespectful person.  I would never want him anywhere close to my property ever again.
I am posting this so no one else has to be ripped off by this guy.  I am also worried that he will come back to my house and do something crazy.  I may have to get the police involved.

    Prieto Engineering Construction
They did the work as described, for the price quoted, and in a timely way. The technical and aesthetic results were excellent. The technique used appears to have salvaged a septic system that otherwise might have cost us 20-fold to replace. We liked them enough to hire them for a much more expensive wall replacement contract.

    GOPHER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
We were in escrow to buy a house on a steep hill with a septic tank. Adam, the office manager, could not have been more friendly and helpful - he took about 1/2 hour to an hour explaining what a septic tank is and how it works. Cliff, the inspector, came out to take a look at the beast. The homeowner did not have a clue as to where it was. After spending a good hour poking around the back and front of the house, Cliff determined that a pump was located in the back of the house and the tank and seepage pit were out front. He gave me a rough quote on how much it would cost to dig it open, inspect it, clean it out (hadn't been cleaned out in 10 years!) and bury it back in. He also was extremely nice and made every effort to do the work asap since we were under the tight escrow schedule.Although we fell out of escrow, I couldn't sing enough praises for Adam and Cliff - they were wonderful to work with! I checked a few places for prices for the work and they blew away the competition. Their professionalism, knowledge, experience and kindness is worth a premium - but even in pricing they are ahead of the game. I highly highly recommend Gopher for your septic tank needs!!

    Watson Plumbing
I have used Watson to install septic systems at my property in the past (last one was about 14 years ago). They were (maybe still are) incredibly knowledgeable and also really nice people. I have always thought they were the best company for this kind of work. So I don't know what has happened with them, I even feel bad writing a negative report about them. In the last two years I have tried twice to have them come out to look at a septic system that I am having a problem with. It has nothing to do with simple cleaning for which I use Showalters Sanitation (an excellent Angies List company), it may need replacing. When I have called I have spoken to someone on the phone who has told me that they can help and that someone will get me to me to schedule an appointment. It all sounds good, except no-one calls to schedule that appointment. The last time I even called them back on the phone and left a message on their answering system saying what had happened and that I would really like to do my business with them and not go elsewhere. They didn't call me back. If they no longer do residential service of any kind then they should say so, maybe someone is ill in the family. This was a great company, I don't know what happened.

    SHOWALTER'S SANITATION CO
I have used this company once before and was happy so called them again. Extremely professional and helpful over the phone. I have two septic tanks on two neighbouring lots with a shared driveway. The access is horrible, steep narrow driveway which no truck can access so all pipes have to be run up from the street below. Technician was polite and unfailingly cheerful despite it being a very hot day and having to work very hard. Also checked out the pits to make sure nothing going on there.

    GOPHER CONSTRUCTION COMPANY
The experience was great. They were fabulous. They were on time. There was never any problem with communication. They made good use of their time. They didn't sit around and wait for anybody. The foreman was efficient with his men. I could always reach him on his cell phone.
