Home Remodeling reviews in West Hills

    American Home Improvement Inc
Im not one to typically post a review, but after our recent experience with American Home Improvement and specifically our project manager Neev Kugel, I felt obliged to comment on their phenomenal work. We contracted them to remodel our kitchen as well as re-do the flooring in adjacent rooms and other related improvements. I was extremely impressed by how professional Neev and the whole operation was from start to finish. Outside of knowing we wanted to update our kitchen, my wife and I really didnt have a clear vision on exactly how we wanted it to look. We essentially put our faith and trust in Neev to deliver an end product that we would love and he didnt disappoint. At the start of the project, Neev brought in designers who were very knowledgeable, creative and receptive to our ideas to help create a contemporary and elegant design that both my wife and I loved. From there, Neev developed the project plan and timeline that was consistent with the original estimate. Throughout the entire process, Neev was very communicative and would always clearly outline next steps so we knew what to expect. This made the process much smoother and reduced the typical frustration that can come with remodels because we always knew the status of the work. Now this is not to say the project was completed without any snags. As with any project, there were surprises that came up. However, Neev always worked with us to explain the issue, outline our options, and would work with us to make sure we were happy with the final outcome. All of the workers brought into our home showed the same level of professionalism and quality craftsmanship. Most importantly, the final outcome of the remodel was outstanding. Not only was everything completed on-time and on-budget, but it turned out absolutely stunning exceeding our expectations. And as the say, the devil is in the details, and it was the details where the quality of the work came through. It was clear that they do not cut corners. The quality of the work was beyond reproach. In terms of price, we didnt do much comparison shopping before going with AHI. Neev impressed us when we initially brought him in so we didnt get other bids for the project. I can say anecdotally the price was very comparable to what some of our other friends paid for similar work. And most importantly the price originally agreed to is was we ultimately paid, which is very important to me. No bait and switch. All in all, I would highly recommend Neev and AHI if considering a home improvement project.

    Luis Lomeli
We were lucky to have found an old school craftsman who takes pride in his work. Luis remodeled two bathrooms and built a new sun room for our house. He also put some new doors into our older house, it wasn't an easy task and he did a great job. He is very dependable.

    Trans-State Construction Inc.,
Trans State construction was a referal from a friend. I just bought a house and wanted to add some room and remodel it. I must of talked to 6 other contractors and after I met Mike I felt he really understood what I wanted and he was going to be much better and professional then the others. I am so glad I did. I think all construction will have issues but the important part is how you and your contractor deal with them when they happen. Honestly Mike and his crew were as professional as they come. The addition was done very well and the remodel to match. My family and I couldn't be happier. As far as contractors go in my opinion Mike is one the best around. Thank you for your grest work. I'll see you at the next project - we have a rental property in Malibu that is due for a make over.

    CNA Partners
Now that our large scale remodeling project is completed, we dont have anything to write or say other than good words that can describe our experience with CNA Partners. Our remodeling project was a large one and it included basically the entire house. They remodeled the kitchen, bathrooms, living room, garage, laundry room, bedrooms and more the whole remodeling project was finished completely about 3 weeks ago and we now moved in to our house. Moshe who was our main guy and our project manager, started the work with many meetings in which he wanted to understand our vision, budget, dreams and more after that, he than designed the 3D plans of the entire spaces so we can get a clear vision on how everything will look like. After we finalized the plans, Moshe brought all his crew to start the work. The remodeling work went smoothly and without any major problem. Everything went according to the plan while all the problems that came up during the work, were handled professionally by the team of people. Now that we moved back to the house, we are still in the process of understanding that we got our dream house and we are so happy with everything they did for us. CNA partners crew have been nothing but super professional, honest, hardworking people and punctual. We cant wait to see how everything turns out!

    Fidelity Builders and Design
Last month, Fidelity builders and design helped us to renovate our kitchen and master bathroom including building a room addition. The remodeling process and progress was easy and fast while the overall price was good too. We couldnt be happier with the final results. Our project manager listened to what we wanted and thought, insured that it will be done in a fair price and made sure that the work will be done right. During the remodeling, it happened few times that if he notices about any mistakes, he made sure that the work will be redone without our involvements .we strongly recommend Fidelity builders and design to anyone who is looking for a quality remodeling people who are honest with high standards and passionate. We are looking forward for new remodeling projects in the near future and we wont hesitating in hiring Fidelity builders and design.

    Preferred Home Builders Inc
Excellent. The company representative reviewed our current roof and advised that in fact it did not need replacement at this time nor in the near future. We appreciated the candor and honesty of the representative and would definitely do business with them in the future.

    A List Builders Inc
I choose A-List Builders to work on my remodeling project due to the great reviews I found on Home Advisors. When Ben came to my house for our free estimateI knew Ben was the right guy to work on our kitchen, he was friendly and listened to what we wanted and soon after had a fair bid for me to review. Once I signed our agreement A-List builders got strait to work, from here we met Shon, Shon is an A- List Builders Project Manager and was quite professional. Shon made sure our project went by quickly while ensuring he got our entire wishlist checked off. I can't believe the night and day difference, we have had the same kitchen design since 1974, so we could not be happier and would recommend A-List Builders to anyone looking for fair price and immaculate service!

This was the first time I worked with a women as a contractor. Lee was very detailed oriented. My wife pick the design and Lee walk us to the showroom and the tile store. She had a lot of patience to show us the different types of cabinets and counter tops explaining the advantages of granite and quartz. My wife and I are very happy with the results. We will hire them in the future.

    Ratoviz Construction
This was a difficult and stressful renovation. More stressful than you can imagine. Ron is a charmer and is the best sales men I ever encountered. He said the right things, and always said what we wanted to hear, "My mission is to make you happy!" he uttered with a cheek to cheek smile. But, why did you take our project manager away? And give us your wife Elena and her friend to look over our project, mid way through our renovation? Then he took our foreman. Yes, you are reading this correctly.. The new project managers Elena, and her friend could not keep up with what had been ordered or what we had been paid for. They thought we were changing the entire house floor, but we were only changing the kitchen floor, and that was because Ron said we had to. In order to change the plumbing in the kitchen, he had to take out the concrete under the floor. I said it's not concrete, it is wood. It's still difficult and must be done. Sadly everything went wrong. Everything they ordered was measured, or ordered erroneously. Elena, installed the complete opposite floor than the one I chose, the color totally clashing with the rest of the home. And everything was ordered wrong. When I finally realized that Elena and her friend were un organized or inept? I hired a very expensive project manager, and then later just started supervising and buying the workers materials myself. Yes, I paid DOUBLE what I was told I would have to pay, and in more than DOUBLE the time. I was having to go buy supplies for the workers, who were not being given materials. Essentials such as water proofing, nails, screws. Later I learned that the wife Elena in charge was the "designer" as well as the accountant, and when I stood my ground that nothing was to be installed without my permission, she had the office cut me off. No communication. I did not know the quantity of marble they ordered. How much matte finish marble which was supposed to be for the floor and how much polished which was to be for the walls. Elena decided to order polished for the floors, which is unsafe when wet, and matte for the walls. I had to go to vendor myself and return the polished for matte. The vendor said Double Oak kept sending the order back as is, with the small quantity of polished for the floor. They are in construction, they must know polished marble is dangerous when wet? And if I want to trade out the polished for the matte, what gives Double Oak the right to say no, you are keeping the polished, when the vendor themselves are ok with the making it all matte marble? It really seemed like Elena was now playing a power trip with me. How un-professional. She must have had her feelings hurt when I did not let her install any more things, other than the dark floor she installed against our light, yellow toned cherry hardwood. I had sent them the email and contact name of the vendor and the kind of floor I wanted for the kitchen, and I was within the budget Ron gave me for the floor. There was no excuse.. Even though we paid triple what is normal for the floor, Elena must have wanted to save money per square foot, or why would she care what floor we installed? I spoke to my husband who did not believe they could possibly be doing all that I claimed. So when Ron called one night late at night saying we had asbestos, and he had called the asbestos company to take it out early the NEXT morning. Something did not feel right. Of course we would have to pay for it. The room had been in demolition for months, the tile was visible underneath, why did he not have it tested? No, he just sent a photo months later, (maybe he had not seen it at every walk through) but now he claimed we had asbestos. We hired a licensed pro tester for asbestos, who tested the glue, the tile, the vinyl, and all came back negative, then he tested the air and ALL the asbestos tests came back NEGATIVE. We received a 50 page report on the material they tested, and a 3 page report on the air they tested. NO ASBESTOS. Boom, I could NOW prove to my hubbie that this was predatory behavior. One month which is what we were promised turned into 5 months. The office (managed by the Elena which I already mentioned is Ron's wife, controlled the money and is also the "designer") started sending the workers with no materials. The office refused to confirm measurements of windows and then tried to install the awkward shaped windows, honestly it was weird. The office would not respond to written requests for just information, of items they had ordered such as faucets, vanities etc. I started ordering myself, so we would not be any more delayed. We did end up with DOUBLE some of the accessories. They truly are lucky I did not sue them for Intentional infliction of emotional distress. It was a brutal experience. I did filed a claim with the State License Board. I would have had no problem going to arbitration to recover some of the money they double charged us, or go to court, but we felt we didn't want to see them again, or indulge in negativity. We chose to move on, and are much happier with all the OTHER contractors we have hired, to finish and to add on our project. I am reviewing Double Oak simply because the office felt so entitled to install what Elena wanted, and that is not acceptable, especially when I had already spent hours online researching the things I wanted to install and some I had paid for. When the foreman mentioned to me, that he told Elena that he would NOT install that loud cheap ventilator (she wanted installed in our home) in his own house, I knew there was a problem. Installing things I had not seen.. I stopped them numerous times from continuing. Cheap does not always save you money. Unhappy customers cost a lot more, you are better off doing the right thing always and spending 50 dollars more on a quiet fan, than attempting to install the loudest cheapest one available. Especially when you are charging your customers twice, on the famous Double Oak spread sheet. Ron also promised a door that he did not order, but said he did. Ahead of the game, I did not wait for it, they had been so undependable, I knew he had not ordered it. And I found a perfect door elsewhere in a day. I also ended up ordering the windows and picking them up, etc. My life as I knew it ended and my life became buying materials, ordering things and delivering.. For an expensive reno, you would think those things should be done by the company.. Honestly, I think since we paid 80 percent including the add ons, in the first 3 weeks, that Double Oak wanted us to fire them.. The foreman saved our butt. He got a nice tip.
