House Painting reviews in Watsonville

This was the first time I used Angies List. I called some of the roofers that were 'Angies List Certified' first. While I was looking through the reviews of the other roofers, I found the review on Jamie Diaz's roofing company. I was very impressed, so I called to schedule an appt with him. Everything the other reviewer stated about Jamie was true. He did a wonderful job on our roof, fascia, eave and rain gutters. He had hired painters to paint, but wasn't satisfied with their work, so he and his crew corrected and finished what they had started. He did not expect payment until the job was finished and ok'ed by the city inspector. I would definitely recommend Diaz Roofing. Even the city inspector mentioned the high quality of the work completed. I consider him part of my trusted network of businesses I deal with. Charles Moscatello Watsonville, CA

    SOD Home Group
SOD builders just finished a full remodeling of our house. It all started with our meeting with Oren and Michele by measuring and understanding what we want to do. Michele came over several times and presented to us her designs and Oren was the person that tried each time to improve the space and to maximize the quality of the materials. The remodeling started with the Kitchen and bathroom at the same stage of work, while the work in the kitchen in process, Oren and his workers started to work on the dining room & laundry room. The plumbing and main rain replacement repairs work was done by several of his people and they did a great job in that part too. The kitchen that we remodeled was with oak wood and included an island, counter tops, new outlets and appliances. The hallways contained several closets and storage spaces that were designed and installed by Oren and his people. All exterior windows and texture coated the exterior of our house. We had never before taken on anything like this and Oren walked us through every step of the way from permitting to code to design explaining what needed to be done in realistic steps. The crew of workers showed up to the house on time every day and did a very professional job in all respects. Any difficulties were taken care of immediately by either Oren or Avi. Many great ideas came from these 2 and also from Michel. The proof that SOD builders are great company is at the end results, as now we have a beautiful home with all the modern touches and for much less than other bids that had much less work involved. Everything that Oren said he would do, he did. I would recommend SOD builders for any size job you have in mind, they stand by their word.

He's a very good painter and his prices are pretty reasonable. I had other quotes and some people were asking for $10,000. So his prices were pretty good at $7,100. He helped me figure out the colors and to come up with a nice color. He worked with the neighborhood, because I wanted them to like it. He helped me get the house sold. He's very professional.

They were really good.  One of the owners did part of the work.  He was here like every day so it wasn’t just hire out people.  He helped me a lot for the exterior painting picking colors and he is really patient with that even like even I was indecisive.  The follow ups making sure everything was okay.  If there is anything that was missed and make sure that they took care of this.  I think they are great company to work with.  The approximate price and I don’t want to say wrong but it’s like $5000 but I actually forgot because I have other things done in my house (the whole exterior of the house).

After calling Sears Home Services for a quote. Somebody from Sears came out to my Dads House and gave Dad a $8000 Dollar quote to paint His House! After joining Angie's list to help him find a Honest and reasonable Painter, I found Scott of Sierra Azul Painting! Scott came to Dads home and gave a very reasonable quote of $2200 Dollars. That's quite a difference in the quote amounts, Obviously we chose Scott's firm from the recommendations of previous customers, and we where sure glad we did they did excellent work.
Scott's team of Painters came to my Dad's House and pressure washed the exterior of the house and also fixed the many cracks in the stucco. Over the three days they spent painting and making my Dads house look Beautiful again! We liked the professionalism of Scott and His Crew of Painters, and wholeheartedly Recommend them for your painting needs.

    Ace Painting Co
    Paint failed to adhere:
The paint failed to adhere to the wood boards surrounding the windows on the the south side of the house. The boards appeared not to be properly prepared for the new paint. These critical "sun" exposed areas appeared not to be sanded or the old paint removed. After four years the paint literately just peeled off. When Alex Yi from Ace Painting visited recently, his position is that it wasn't their fault; the original paint failed to adhere. The original paint was at least 15 years old when Ace Painting repainted the house. I expected that a professional painting company would take into consideration the fact that the old paint, at least in the southern exposed areas, would need to be prepped.
I took samples of the peeled paint to a local Kelly Moore store (the paint was Kelly Moore) and had a area sales/service person visit my house. This gentleman agreed that the surface where the pealing occurred was not prepped before the new paint was painted over.
I wanted Ace painting to fix the problem. Alex Yi offered to supply the labor at his cost and I would buy the needed paint. However generous Mr. Yi thought this offer was, I did not. It appears to me that a professional painter would have not overlooked the need to pay special attention to highly exposed areas (south side) and to make sure that the type of peeling experienced would be mitigated.

I did not hire them for a couple of reasons.  They were higher than the competitor.  They were very slow in responding to my quote, and to the follow-up questions I had about the quote.  They finally did follow-up to the email I sent and returned a call at some point, but by then I had already signed contract with somebody else; so that is the only interaction I had with them.  I expected them to be knowledgeable and they weren't.  The quote was for $48000 and it was a sizeable job.  He left some things out and I asked him for more information to clarify because he didn’t include a couple of walls that are on the property line.  I asked him that he needed to give me some kind of idea of how much it would cost.  He responded back after a couple of weeks or so, but until then I already had a completed bid that was actually a little cheaper and included everything; so I let him go.  His responsiveness was not good.  I think they mostly do smaller jobs.  My job required scaffolding and other kinds of expertise using 8-9 colors for a Victorian style apartment house, so I think it might be much for them.
