Handyman reviews in Walnut

  • Kyle had many different workers for each job.  All of them were professional, polite, cleaned up at the end of each day, and did a great job.
We had originally contacted Kyle in April.  Due to a family emergency we did not have the work start until the end of June.  I think the change of schedule is why the job took a little longer than originally quoted, however Kyle made sure it was done promptly.  I recommend Kyle and will use him again in the future.

  • George came out to see what work needed to be done. He gave a fair estimate. He called back as he said he would with the date and time he would do the work. He was very neat and organized when he did the work. By the way, George was repairing work that another handyman did poorly. George repaired the stucco and painted the area with paint that matched my house color. You can't even tell where he patched. He did a perfect job. He is also very friendly and professional. Finding George totally justified paying for the Angie's List subscription.

  • George was very punctual, professional, friendly and thorough.  He did a very good job in a short period of time.  His price was also very reasonable.  Very nice to work with him...I will definitely use him again.

  • The only criticism I would make is that Kyle assigned the job to just one man, Gregorio, who is absolutely tops in workmanship, knowledge and professionalism.  The job took Gregorio 2 and 1/2 days...with a helper he could have completed the job easily in less that 2 days.  Certainly, I would recommend Kyle Beym Home Improvements to my friends.

  • Aaron (and his office assistant Nancy) were very patient.  Once we received the quote to have the paint done, it took 4 months before we could get to the actual painting part.  Nancy called every couple of weeks, asking first if I wanted to check back and asking when would work for me.  She called like clockwork.   However, she never seemed to mind me having to say once again we were waiting for some repairs to still be done.  Finally the house was ready to be painted.  I setup an appointment with Aaron, the owner, to be sign the contract and show him what colors I wanted.  He was very meticulous in the details of how we wanted the 3 colors on our house as we didn't have shutters.  From then on it was like clockwork.  Aaron gave me the approximate start dates and how long the painting would take and he was also building a aluminum vinyl patio for us to replace our rotted one.  The men arrived on time with Aaron also there.  They reviewed how I wanted it painted as far as the colors and went to work.  The paint job was phenomenal.  They painted everything neatly.  They painted not only our house, but our dog house, our mailbox, the flowerbed, our built-in barbecue, two gates, part of our fence that was wood, our front porch light and hand painted our bear statute on the front porch.  They added an extra man on the job to get done a day early because of a storm that was due in.  Aaron was trying to get everything done before Christmas.  When they finished painting our house looked brand new.  After that Aaron called to setup a date to install the porch they built.  It was beautiful.  It went farther around our house than the old one which was slats and was rotting.  Everything is amazing.  When I drive up to our house I slow before I open the garage door to look at it again.  I cannot believe what a transformation with just paint!  :)
    Thank you Aaron!!

  • JR removed the socket and reconnected the wiring on each light fixture. He used a drop cloth to protect the floor from dirt and old insulation material that rained down.  He was also kind enough to remove a plastic disk (part of a disabled smoke detector) that was left attached to the ceiling next to the lights. I requested JR to look over  my circuit breaker and asked him for an estimated replacement cost. He obliged. I felt that he gave me his honest assessment about its condition.
I am very satisfied with the service and I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for great service at a reasonable cost. I will also share this info with my family and friends.

  • Mark is very knowledgeable about everything I call him for. He sealed up two of the holes but noticed that the wood was still wet and suggested setting up fans to dry out the wall. It also came to his notice that the bottom of the wall had dirt in it and gunk. He cleaned it all up scraping it out onto his tarp and then emptying it in our trashcan. His next step is to retexture our wall to match the strange texture we have. He is knowledgeable about multiple textures which is good because our wall seems to have different textures. Mark is neat in his work and I can always count on him to fix whatever is in need of fixing or building.

  • I was in the process of switching out the sprinkler valves in my house from anti-siphon type to an in-line type because they are easier to repair replace. The only bit I knew I would need a pro to help would be with the installation of a double-check valve to prevent any backflow into water supply.
I called Handyman Unlimited and they were nice enough on the phone. No complaints there. They were able to get Juan to come out later that week. When he arrived, I explained to him what I was doing and what I wanted to be done. I was very specific. he nodded and was  all "oh yeah, sure sure no problem. It'll be $450". Sounded ok so I scheduled the job.
On the day of the actual work, he was well over 45 minutes late. No call. I called to office to see if I had my dates mixed up. He was on his way but I guess he got caught up in traffic or something. At any rate, he finally shows up. Starts working, removes the old plumbing, begins installing the new parts. So far so good. Then as he goes to install a vacuum-break (NOT what I wanted) it was broken and had to go back to the "special supplier" to get a replacement. Honestly its the same type they sell at Home Depot. When he finally returns with a working part and proceeds to finish. He then installs the same type of anti-siphon valves that I was trying to get rid of in the 1st place in the front yard.  They were crooked at that, but as it was now late (after dark) and the water to the garden had been shut off for days due to breaking valves, I just wanted him to finish so I could water my garden before it all died. When He was done I got "well the parts were more expensive than I thought" Grrr....
When I called back to the office the next day to explain that I was NOT satisfied with what Juan had installed plus the fact that it didn't appear to be to code (believe me I did A LOT of research before starting this ordeal). I explained to them my reason for wanting they type of back-flow preventer I did because I didn't want a big pipe rising up in front of my house (unfortunately that's where the water main is located- just to the side of the garage door). She had a different person come out and take a look what what had been done.  He agreed with me that it wasn't exactly to code (needed to be another foot higher) but that it should be fine anyway. Real reassuring- NOT.
In the end I replaced the valves myself to the ones I wanted all along and planted some shrubs in front of the plumbing they did. Been hitting them with extra fertilizer so they can cover it up quickly and I won't be reminded of the whole ordeal every time I come home.
Handyman Unlimited may be useful for somethings, but plumbing I think not.
So far this has been my only negative experience with someone from Angie's List.

  • I would like to thank Mr. Vieau.  He called me because he was concerned that the certificates I had purchased for service were not valid in my area.
He did not want me losing my money.
    Thanks

  • I am a senior with MS so I need grab bars which I have in my master bath walk in shower. My older brother visits me quite a bit and showers in the tub bathroom. He mentioned to me that I should have grab bars for the tub area because of stepping over the tub when getting in. I told him I was going to have that done because I use that shower on occasion  but I didn't know who to call to deal with the fiberglass. On Apr 25  I went to Angie's List and found Handyman Unlimited. I called them and explained what I wanted and that I wanted the grab bars attached to the studs so they would not pull out of the fiberglass. Roxie said she had a tech in the area she would call him and call me back. In less than 5 minutes she called me back and said Robert was coming now. He showed up, looked at the job and explained in detail how he would do it and gave me an estimate. He took my e-mail address and said Roxie would send me the estimate invoice for approval. I received the invoice within a few hours which I called and approved the job and gave them a deposit with my credit card over the phone and had an appointment for Monday. Robert showed up on time with grab bars and began installation. He found that the studs were farther behind the fiberglass than he originally thought so he had to make a trip to the hardware store to get extra installation hardware. He returned completed the job, pulled his weight on the bars to show me they would hold my weight and they were tight to the studs. He cleaned up and left everything looking great. Robert was very professional. I was very happy with his work. I asked him about what type of jobs do they do and I plan on using Handyman Unlimited for future repairs.
