Appliance Repair reviews in Visalia

  • They never provided an estimate and then charged $185 for the conversion.
About $30 was for the parts so $150 for the 1/2 hour repair or $300 per hour.
When I called the lady told me they have basic rates but won't give the customer a quote until the technician can evaluate the situation. In essence, the customer is an idiot and cannot be trusted to know what is wrong with their equipment.
This is the only service company I've used that never gave me a quote before doing the work - which may be against the law.
Additionally, since I was still upset at their charges she said the manager would call me that afternoon. He never called!
I will not do business with these crooks again and will never turn down an opportunity to bad mouth them.

  • Today, my washer would not start, I called him this morning and within three hrs. he was here and he fixed the washer, apparently the electrical outlet was faulty, and he fixed and replaced the outlet.
He is a very nice man, has a great sense of humor, he's professional and definitely great at what he does, this is the second time I have called him, the first time, the dryer was not working, he replaced a part that he had in his van, and got it up and running in no time, I strongly recommend his services.

  • I called and left a voice message on Dan's recorder and within two hours he returned my call and on the same day, he was able to come out to my house and look at the dryer and repaired it.

He came out with his assistant, and they repaired it right away, they were both very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

I would recommend them to anyone.

  • The company was hired by First American.  They set several appointments and canceled it 4 times stating they were waiting for parts.   The first person who came out stated he was the expert for our machine stating what was needed and stated he would inform First American.  Then Cal Valley Appliance Repair changed ownership and the supposedly expert was no longer with the company.  They forgot about me until I called First American who gave me the phone number of Cal Valley.  The second person who came out said the other person was not the expert and stated he would order the parts.  They canceled their appointments 4 times stating that they were waiting for the parts, or that the wrong part was sent.  Finley after 2 mo. they came out and replaced the parts stating the dish washer was now fixed.  Three days later I called First American stating that the original problem was worse. First American sent the same company out again.  The repair man set the dishwasher for a quick wash and everything looked fine.  I explained to him that he needed to wait awhile in order for him to see how the water drains from the top to the bottom.  I also explained that we do not use both dish washers at the same time.  He set both dish washer to a full cycle ignoring my comment and stated he would return.  I called him later that day explaining we had water in the bottom dish washer.  Instead of returning as he stated he would he then called First American  stating the appliance was in good working order when in fact it was not.
They do not follow through and are not honest plus they do not not have a physical address on their business cards nor on their statement.
I  would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

  • I have a GE Microwave purchased in 2005 with a 10 year warranty. After taking it to a local appliance center (Franks) they diagnosed that the magnetron went out. I called GE and they verified that the parts were covered. I requested that GE send the parts and was told that they were too dangerous to send to a customer. Also, that the US mail would not deliver such hazardous materials. I was informed that I must have a GE approved service company handle the job. GE recommended Affordable Appliance, Inc. as one of their service companies. I called Affordable and asked if they would get the parts for me. They refused and said they would have to install them. I notified them that GE already had approved the parts so all they had to do was get them in and install them. The lady at Affordable said the cost to do that was $75 to which I agreed. One week later they showed up without the parts, took the microwave apart and informed me that the magnetron was bad. They wanted $75 for this trip and $320 to get and install the parts. When I complained that I already had the authorization for the parts and that they were to come out with them, also that the lady that took the call knew all of this in advanced the serviceman got upset. He said it was his wife and that this would never happen. I told him he wasted his time and he proceeded to give me a bill for what I already knew was wrong. Threatened me that if I didn't pay they would go to collections and ruin my credit. I contacted GE and all they could say was sorry. Later this certified GE service company charged me $45 for the trip. I went online and ordered the parts (Genuine renewal parts- which I still have the packages) from Repairclinic.com. It seems this online vendor had no problem that these were dangerous parts and also they shipped them through the US postal service. I installed the parts in under 5 minutes and the microwave works perfectly now. My problem is that GE's warranty is a sham when you have to go through something like this!
I complained to BBB about GE which was a waste of time because they rate them as A+ because all the company has to do is reply with " We did not agree to the reimbursement the consumer is asking for. "
What really happened was: I talked to Gary Mantooth – June 9th at 9:57 PST who sent the GE response. Gary wanted to verify the amounts that I had requested. Gary said I found a way to circumvent their repair process and although he was not part of the conversations he knew for a fact that no one would offer this service. That this was much less money than it would cost to have actually have their guarantee work. I informed him that “I was” part of the conversation and asked why both parties would agree to this and go this far before GE would inform the customer of what their policy was. All Gary could say was that we agree to disagree. I asked Gary why neither GE nor their authorized service repair company, until after the fact, notified me of their mandatory inspection call? Also why they would not even notify the customer after being informed of the problem and agreeing to come out and replace the parts. All Gary could say was that this was policy. I then asked why the parts they produce were too dangerous and the US postal service would not ship them, but the exact same parts “GE produced” were shipped by the US postal service by another company. All he could say again was that this was policy and people have died when they ship these parts. The reason that this is not acceptable: In my opinion GE can easily tout how great their guarantee is when selling products and then easily have someone summarily deny problems after the fact.
I'm sure GE is charging their Approved Service companies a fee to be "Approved" so they get a kickback on their supposed guarantee. It seems like that for GE this is just a game of numbers and they have hidden behind a bait-and-switch policy when it comes to servicing the customer. Then all they do is claim "POLICY". It's not really a GUARANTEE

  • We have called Dan's for all of our appliance repairs for many years. The nice thing is that when you call Dan's, 9 out of 10 times you get Dan. He has always been prompt and helpful. Dan has always been very honest in recommending a repair or replacement and rarely have we had to call him back to rectify a problem. My wife says he treats her like a daughter and always explains the issues to her. I do not hesitate to recommend Dan's to others.

  • Our AC failed in the middle of a major heat wave. Dan's was able to replace it the day after we accepted their quote. The (new) unit they installed turned out to have a problem- Dan's was there the next morning and replaced it with a different unit. Excellent service- especially considering the heavy demand on the AC industry during the heat wave.

  • We have been experiencing very hot weather in our area, and my mother is not healthy, worse in the heat. She is on oxygen and uses her air conditioner at all times. When I was checking in on her, I noticed it was warmer than normal in her home. After looking in the yellow pages (before I had Angie's List!), I called Dan's Air Conditioning. I needed someone to come to my mother's home as soon as possible. The staff I spoke with on the phone were more than pleasant; they went above and beyond. As I'm sure they were extremely busy due to the weather, I was surprised when they offered to come out the next afternoon. However, when I explained to them my mother's health problems and the fact that her A.C. wasn't cooling her enough, she suggested she try to get one of her guys out there in the morning before they started their official day so that it would be done before it got too hot! When I phoned back to confirm, they had it set up for around 7:30 a.m., which is perfect for my early-rising mother!
But the great service didn't stop with the office staff; the gentleman that came to service the air conditioner was awesome! My mother had and quot;frozenand quot; her unit, so he had to uncover it and come back, and he did so promptly. Once the unit was ready, he fixed and recharged it with Freon, and my mother is once again nice and cool! She has conveyed to me how polite and kind the serviceman was to her, and that was very important to me when I was looking for a company to send into my mother's home! It was so nice to have good, old-fashioned, great service!

  • I contacted Dan this morning and he informed me that he would call in the afternoon if he had an opening. He called mid afternoon and was at my residence within 10 minutes. Within 20 minutes he had identified the problem as a bad circuit board. Although the repair was not cost effective for the age of the refrigerator, Dan's promptness and professionalism was appreciated. I will use his services in the future if the need arises.

  • I called for service and the appointment was made for the next day. The technicain arrived and identified the problem as the oven electronic igniter. The technician called me to let me know what the problem was and indicated the amount to replace/repair. The job was completed within 2 hours and the technician was courteous and professional.
