If he used the call button a loudspeaker in the room would answer with: What do you want? He was given a breakfast tray set down on the tray table too far for him to reach and too heavy for him to move by himself and the person walked out. Very casual indifferent care in the hospital overnight. I visited and asked for a chair and was pointed to one by the door. I said it would be hard to have a conversation from there. The nurse said: What, is he deaf? Not kidding!!

They could not put the IV in. They put in. I completely did not know anything about the stuff that they were putting into me. I think they put it in and ran it too quickly it was supposed to take about an hour and a half they ran it for an hour and the result of that was the back of my neck on my arms and my legs and the back of my head became extremely itchy. I still have scabs from the itching I did in the hospital which they didnt detect. I am sure after becoming familiar with the medicine I am sure that it came from that because it was administered too quickly with IV. That was the inhouse review of them. The doctor came by on sunday and said you do not need to be here any more you can go home however the hospital who knew that this was coming up on a kind of an out patient basis had done absolutely nothing to prepare me to walk with a walker so when I got home I had no idea how to get from my car to my house. They took the wheel chair out to the car helped me into the car and said goodbye. Getting back they have a person who supposed to be responsible for relief care or relief planning. My doctor says that he had signed an order for me to have a one of those bars that you use for IV for having a commode and for having a walker. They provided nothing. The hospital did not transmit that order to anybody so I came home with nothing not even instructions or about how to get me out of the car. My little 140 pound wife had to support me to get into the house. They did nothing like that. They did not refer me over to Allied and other company for something else but no discharge planning or systems. They told when we left the hospital to call next day to set up an appiontment to have a picline put in now thats a line that runs from your arm and close to your heart that the medication that your taking in is safely transmitted into your system. They told us to call. We did call the next day. They had no order that the radiology section that we called nobody had told them that they were supposed to provide this service they finally found it. They made an appointment for us for 4 O'clock that afternoon. We got there at 4 O'clock they provided no wheelchair to get fromt the car to the desk. When we arrived at the desk they said we were supposed to be there 20 minutes early which they had not said in the phone call. They said that everyone had left and that we would need to leave now and return the next day. They saw the pain and the difficulty that my wife had for getting me in. They said that we would have to leave. I had to threaten them, I told them I am going to lie right here until you provide the service that you said your going to provide or I am going to sleep here over night until you provide it tomorrow. They said we lied about being 20 minutes early for this appointment. They just completely screwed that up. They finally backed off when I said I was going to lie down in front of their desk in front of all the other patients that were line up for out patient radiology treatment. All of a sudden they remembered that they had an outpatient team across the street who was attached to the hospital part of their staff who immediatley came over and put in the picline that requried. They could have done that in the first place. Instead of doing that they argued with us. Said we were lying were abusive. I would never go back to that hospital. Inside outside any kind of services they are terrible. They could not even transmit a simple message to one of their staff to the other.

Fortunately, I have rarely had the need to go to emergency rooms. In fact, the most recent time before this one was a few decades ago and that was at a different hospital. And THAT time did not go at all well.
I was seen by at least four different individuals. Each had certain tasks to perform as part of the overall situation. I'd characterize each very positively. Unlike other experiences that I've had where the work seemed to have gotten some of the staff in a sour mood, these people uniformly greeted me well and took care of their assigned duties while remaining friendly and, in a couple of cases, actually sociable and cheery.
I never felt either rushed or ignored. Each person or team (in one case) seemed to take all the time necessary to do what they needed to do. At the end of the day, I was given instructions on what to do to facilitate my recovery until I could schedule an appointment to see a particular doctor/facility for the necessary follow-up, which also went quite well.

This is an ongoing event, including appointments with a primary care physician, an orthopedic surgeon, and physical therapy.  Although there are the expected circumstances that result in bouncing back and forth between doctors, SCAN has been easier to work with that other companies with which earlier experiences have been far more frustrating.
Biggest complaint at the moment is the lack of agreement between doctors regarding how to proceed.  One suggests that an MRI is appropriate as x-rays and other efforts have not been revealing.  But only one doctor has the authority to OK that procedure and he is withholding that authorization without giving a timetable for when or under what circumstances he will agree that it is necessary.  Meanwhile, healing is quite slow and I am not sure that all of what it wrong has been diagnosed.
However, all of the above is doctor-specific.  Seeing different doctors may have resulted in much different circumstances.  So while SCAN is a part of the overall process and its policies effect how care it provided, I fully intend to stay with SCAN into the foreseeable future.  In my recent experience, they have been the best organization when compared with its competition.  Any time that there have been issues to be resolved within SCAN itself, the people have been attentive and generally helpful.  Ultimately, all situations have been satisfactorily resolved.

I was just so pleased with the service that they gave to me. They were very accommodating and helped me with the tremendous pain I was in. The nurses, staff, doctors, and even the kitchen help were so nice, courteous, and professional. They went way above and beyond what they needed to for me. They followed up with me at home as well, which I was not expecting. I only had one hiccup with a doctor, but the hospital addressed the issue and corrected it right away.

I think they could be better. One of the emergency room doctors was very good. the second one was dismissive and not helpful. When I was admitted the nursing staff was very good. Although there was one young nurse that was very snippy. On whole for a hospital experience it was very nice.

It is a county hospital and the quality of care is very good. As terms of management I would give them a C but the staff is excellent. I have been in their emergency room and it was a good experience.

They are very pleasant.  They don' necessarily remember me everytime I go in there, but if I have to stay and wait they are very prompt with getting me in and out.  They will come find me if my prescription is ready before when they tell me.  They also deliver, but I don't know what the fee is.  The delivery is very important.

They were horrible and I have contacted their management about that. It's only the pharmacy part which was horrible. I didn't like the attitude of the people in the pharmacy especially when people had to wait for a long time. I have had medications replaced by them and they have the 24 hour time frame within which they are supposed to call up to inform that the prescriptions would be ready. However, when I went down there, the prescriptions weren't there. I had also gone to get insulin for one of my pets and on two occasions I didn't get the insulin, as it was out of stock. On the first occasion, they asked me to come back the next day. I went in the afternoon on the next day thinking that it would have arrived, but had never arrived. So, I gave up on that. I even notified the territorial management about the attitude of the people behind the counter. It was less than professional and even challenged several people. Their attitude was like asking people to go somewhere else if they didn't like their service. It was really pathetic. I have stood in line with other people and we used to just shake our heads looking at the pharmacy people being unprofessional. The only reason why people go there like I do is because it is relatively convenient. The price that they charge is average. I now have to go somewhere else, as I didn't want to put up with the nonsense. I went into another pharmacy which is a little further away where the people at the counter are very warm and helpful. It's a completely different experience. I don't even bother to go back to the Rite Aid Pharmacy any more. However, the people in the store are fine and helpful. They are okay and I don't have any problems with them, but it's only the people in the pharmacy with whom I am not happy. It's a very uncomfortable situation to go down there and explain everything to them, as they give one excuse after another.

They are quick. If my physician calls or I call in, I can get a prescription by the end of the day. Sometimes I can get it sooner if I need to, but I only needed to do that once. I have had a good experience with them.
