    Arrived on time
Gracious to my neighbor who was concerned about potential damage to his artificial turf (there was none)
    Cleaned up afterwards
A pleasure to work with. It was obvious to me and me and my neighbors that he and his crew had a great working relationship. Barry was on site the entire time working right along with them

It went very well.  They did a really nice job.  They came out really nice.  They cleaned up perfectly.  They've done it really quickly.  The people that were out there were very nice guys.  One of the guys would text me immediately; he would just respond within an hour with everything I asked.

    Halter Landscape
We worked with Halter Landscape on the recommendation of a friend. We met with Doug a few times prior to contracting to make sure he understood our vision for our new garden. He had great recommendations. We had some difficulty meeting up with Doug periodically while the job was in process. He appeared to be juggling a lot of other jobs. His team was punctual and professional.
The job did go over budget, slightly, due to some mis-understanding, but it was not dramatically over. I recommend making sure that you have Doug clearly document his plan, including amounts expected for various plants, etc. I also recommend that you get a complete list of the plants utilized and their required care to ensure you can maintain the garden appropriately. Finally, any changes to the original plan should be costed prior to agreeing to those changes.
We were pleased with the results of the work. However, we have had some problems and have had a difficult time getting follow up responses from Doug. For example, as part of the initial job, the new concrete pads for our patio were poured and then painted. Shortly after the painting was done, the paint began to peel. This was addressed quickly with a re-painting. Not long after the repainting, we experienced peeling again. We emailed and phoned Doug, but have had spotty responses via email. To date, we have not had any additional repairs on our patio.
Although we have had some difficulty with Halter Landscape as outlined above, I would give them a second chance and utilize them again in the future.

    Boston Brick & Stone, Inc
When I finally got a hold of the company, they set up an appointment to come. Prior to coming, they sent a list of questions about the property. Once they received the reply, they cancelled claiming they do not service my area. Deal stated Ventura County but probably it was too complicated for them to handle.

    Gallegos Concrete
Joel did a great job. He had some suggestions on how to make the landing better secured in place, based on his years of experience. I liked his offering improvements that would make sure his work lasted a very long time. His price was quite reasonable, and he was a pleasure to have at the house.
He was on time, didn't swear a blue streak like some tradesmen do, and completed his work quickly and efficiently. And before he left, he gave me some tips to do while the concrete dried, so that it would cure properly and last a very long time.
I will use Joel again in the future, and recommend him to anyone.

    B R SHELDON CONCRETE
My experience was absolutely wonderful. We talked about stamps, and I think that was included, but the thing is there were some stampings that were more expensive than others, and I have not yet decided what I would use because I was told by the painters that if I was going to replace the driveway and was considering pavers for color, I needed to probably have an idea what I was going to put in so that the paint job would coordinate. The first time I contacted him I believe was by e-mail. It was a weekend, and he did not get back to me until Monday. He apologized because he had been out of town. He was very considerate about returning a phone call right away. He made an appointment to come out. He was busy; he had estimates coming in his alley, but he came out. He combined our estimate with a personal trip. He has a mother-in-law or a mother that was in our area. He had his family in the car. He spent time with me. I sat outside and looked through his book, and he sat out back because he gave us an estimate for our patio, and he wrote all that. Even though he was on a personal mission that weekend, he did not spare anytime for them. He was concentrating on us. He actually said that he hated to let go of the business, but I am contacting somebody without a getting a resurfacing job. He was not sure if that was going to be appropriate, but after he was headed, he said that it was a possibility, so, I felt that was professional of him too. I really like him.

    Dan's Custom Concrete
Dan is a nice guy & a delight to work with. And best of all, he is directly involved in the actual work, overseeing all the details. I can't stress how great it is to have a hands-on contractor do your work! He is prompt and came when promised. His prices are very reasonable and the quality high. The only thing that I am not delighted with is the cracks that have formed in the slab. Yes, I know that they are unavoidable with all concrete and to be expected. But because the color is on the surface only, the cracks expose the gray concrete beneath. I am mentioning this so there are no surprises. If you are turned off by all the ugly, repetitious looking stamped concrete out there, check out Dan's photobook for ideas. Then go look at some of his past work. Lots of contractors out there do stamped concrete, but Dan really is the best.

    Dependable Landscaping
Juan is wonderful. He has a very good sense of design. He took my wife around and designed the new backyard. He gave a good estimate. He and his crew worked very fast and had the large job done in two weeks. His crew was very professional and did great work. Both the estimate of price and time of completion were right on target.

I FOUND JUAN IN THE PAPER, CHECKED HIS LICENSE AND INSURANCE (STILL ACTIVE AS OF 1/2010), AND ASKED FOR A QUOTE ON A FLAGSTONE PATIO (ON CONCRETE SLAB). I HAD DONE A LOT OF HOMEWORK AND I EXPECTED A QUOTE OF AROUND 15-20,000. JUAN CAME WITH A VISION OF LANDSCAPING, IRRIGATION, LIGHTING AND AMBIANCE THAT I NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I COULD HAVE. HE QUOTED 14,500. AS IS PROPER HE ASKED FOR NO MONEY UP FRONT. HE BROUGHT FLAGSTONE SAMPLES FOR ME TO CHOOSE FROM. HE STARTED WITH KILLING OFF THE CRABGRASS IN THE YARD (A REALLY NIGHTMARE YARD). NEXT A CONTAINER THE LENGTH OF MY FRONT YARD REMOVED ALL OF THE OLD CONCRETE AND SURFACE DIRT TO GRADE MY YARD AND IMPROVE DRAINAGE. THEY RAN PIPING FOR 3 NEW FAUCETS WHERE I WANTED THEM AND PIPING IN CASE I WANTED TO RUN GAS UNDER THE PATIO IN THE FUTURE. THEY PREPARED TWO PADS, ONE BESIDE THE HOUSE AND ONE BEHIND THE GARAGE, FOR CONCRETE, AS WELL AS THE PATIO BASE WITH REBAR. THE CONCRETE WAS POURED. A LONG COUNTER WAS BUILT WITH REBAR, FRAME AND POURED WITH COLORED CONCRETE. I NOW HAVE A MINI FRIDGE AND 3 STORAGE CABINETS UNDER THIS. IN MY MADNESS I DECIDED I WANTED A FIRE PIT. WHEN THE ORDER OF FLAGSTONE CAME IN, JUAN TOOK ME TO SEE IT BEFORE THEY BROUGHT IT OVER. ALTHOUGH IT WAS WHAT I PICKED OUT, I DIDN'T LIKE IT. JUAN TOOK ME TO THE FLAGSTONE MEGA YARD BY CAMARILLO. OF COURSE I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE MOST EXPENSIVE, HEAVIEST, FLAGSTONE AVAILABLE (THREE RIVER FROM THE SAWTOOTH MTNS IN IDAHO, IT HAS SO MUCH IRON IN IT YOU SHOULDN'T USE IT AROUND POOLS BECAUSE IT WILL RUST). IT HAD TO BE BROUGHT IN BY PICK-UP, ONE BOX AT A TIME. THE SUPER STONE UPGRADE AND FIRE PIT RAISED MY AMT TO 17,500. JUAN'S MASTER MASON'S CUT AND FIT THAT FLAGSTONE WITH SUCH ATTENTION TO DETAIL IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE. WE MEASURED THE TOP OF THE FIRE PIT SO I COULD STRETCH OUT MY LEGS ON IT AND HAVE IT AT THE PERFECT HEIGHT, AND WHEN I WASN'T HAPPY WITH THE WIDTH OF THE SEATING AROUND THE TOP, THEY REDID IT. I'VE HAD SO MANY GREAT BBQS SINCE THEN. I ORDERED A HUGE GRILL AND THEY BUILT THE INNER LIP TO FIT IT. WHEN THE CURVE OF THE PATIO DIDN'T SUIT ME, THEY REDID IT. JUAN ALSO TOOK ME TO A NURSERY, ADVISED ME ON COLOR AND PLANTS AND HELPED ME PICK EVERYTHING OUT. HIS LICENSE IS IN LANDSCAPING. WHEN I TOLD HIM I DON'T DO YARD WORK, HE TEASED ME AND SAID A GARDENER WOULD ONLY COST ME ABOUT $20 A WEEK. I TOLD HIM IF HE COULD FIND ME A GARDENER FOR THAT I WOULD DO IT, AND HE DID. I'VE HAD ANGEL FOR 2 YEARS NOW, HE WAS A NO SHOW ONCE AND HE CALLED TO SAY HE WASN'T COMING UNTIL LATER IN THE WEEK. JUAN AND HIS WORKERS COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE PROFESSIONAL, SKILLED, OR EAGER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. THEY SHOWED ON TIME, WORKED DAWN TO DUSK MINUS LUNCH HOUR, AND HAD WONDERFUL SENSES OF HUMOR. JUAN HAS A RULE THAT NONE OF THEM EVER COMES IN YOUR HOUSE ("THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS IN THERE"). THE PROJECT TOOK ABOUT 4-6 WEEKS. I LOVE MY BACKYARD! IT'S COMPLETELY EXTENDED MY LIVING SPACE. THIS MAN'S ENERGY AND IMAGINATION HAS NO BOUNDS, AND HIS TEAM IS TOP NOTCH.
