    I had been there for annual checkups the prior two years. The wait time from my on-time arrival until I was actually ushered into the treatment area had been approximately 20-25 minutes each time, which I do not appreciate, as I made a specific appointment time, and took off from  and they are not running an ER. It's just eye exams.  Additionally, at one of my prior appointments, once I was inside and had my preliminary interview with the nurse, I was then left alone for almost 50 minutes, waiting for the next technician to administer eye drops; then, the next technician who checked my eyes was "new" and didn't know how to use the machines (one of which was broken) - we had to change exam rooms twice (3 exam rooms in total) so she could figure it out and find one that worked, and I waited even longer for her to redo the exam because she was unsure. After that exam, I was told "the doctor will be right in".  Dr. Kramar came in over 35 minutes later. By then, I was not smiling and neither was he.  He was very abrupt and disinterested in some issues I was experiencing; he hardly answered my questions.  I left very upset with the entire appointment.  

    My Dec 2015 appt (I am not exactly sure of the date), I checked in on time and waited for approximately an hour. Other patients were going up to inquire when they would be seen and most of them had been there between 1-2 hours. A woman next to me told the receptionist that she was there for 2 hours and when would she be seen? The receptionist said: "We tell our patients to allow two hours for the appointment."  Yeah, for the Entire Appointment, not waiting for two hours and then two more hours for the appointment.  I was not going to sit a minute longer. I had taken precious time off work. I told the receptionist I was leaving; she apologized mechanically for the delay and asked if she could book another appointment. I made an appointment, knowing I was probably going to cancel it but I didn't want to make a hasty decision to change doctors while I was angry.

    Two days before my rescheduled appointment, I thought back on the past visits and realized that they were not timely, efficient, personable or friendly; they were automatons pushing (overbooked) patients in one door and out the other.  I called to cancel the appointment and - guess what - I was on hold for over 12 minutes listening to their looped recorded advertisement of all the wonderful services that the wonderful doctors and wonderful staff offer. at two convenient locations  That was it. I hung up and FAXED them my appointment cancellation and informed them I was no longer a patient, so not to bother calling me to reschedule.

    There are lots of other ophthalmologists and places to get eye exams quickly, efficiently and personably - at least 10 others within a mile of my work and home. OAV acts like they're running a major multinational corporation with no time to spare or spend caring about their patients. They need to get real - they're not that important; they're not saving lives; it's just eye exams.

    I finally booked a date and all went amazingly well . I was booked at 9am in the morning in his office . My husband came with me and picked me up 3h later . The procedure was smooth , under local anaesthesia . All the staff is also really nice and caring . Since the day of the intervention I saw him every month to have a look at my eyes . 4 month later my eyes are looking much younger and I'm very pleased with the result . He's a great Doctor and person .

    It went very well. We were extremely pleased with him. He was extremely knowledgeable, and very thorough and comprehensive in explaining things. He was extremely patient and helpful in a difficult situation. They were very responsive in an urgent situation and very concerned about the emergency situation that we were in. We would definitely recommend them.

    We have been to this office since our children were 5. The office staff is lovely and warm, the appointments are right on time and Dr. Handler is good with the children and is very professional. Our older child has never needed glasses but our youngest did need reading glasses for about a year until she and quot;grew out ofand quot; her near sightedness.
    Dr. Handler is very willing to chat and discuss whatever questions you may have. You are never rushed out, in fact, I have sometimes been short on time and wished she would move it along:) But when it comes to your children's eyesight I certainly prefer a doctor who takes more time with their patients!

    I was diagnosed with cataracts, scheduled an operation and had it. At all times the reception help was friendlyand helpful. The wait to see the doctor was reasonably short, the procedure itself ws smooth and painless and successful. I now see much better on the involved eye. Highly recommend the Jules Stein Clinic in general and Dr. Joanne Giancone in particular

    Overall everything went well. My only suggestions are that the staff should introduce themselves when they help you out. Another issue for me was that unfortunately sometimes the building shakes a lot, and it's not from earthquakes, though that is what it feels like. I'm not sure if it is from the elevator nearby or what? Anyway, that is an uncomfortable feeling. But last time I was there there was no shaking.

    It went great. My mom is 83 and she was not in great health at the time of her first appt. To top it off, she had lost her purse when she first moved out here and had none of her ID. The front desk staff were extremely patient and understanding and the substitute information we were able to provide was used and her medical information obtained with no problems. We were brought into the back offices and taken to a couple of different rooms by supporting staff to be examined, questions are asked at each round and you are escorted to a different seating area each step of the way. There was not a long wait to see Dr. Kramer who is charming, and patient as well as being thorough. They certainly instill a lot of confidence. My mother was referred to a retina specialist - also located at the same location - and we have had a subsequent visit with Dr. Kramer. All is well and we will be doing follow up appt in 6 months.

    He was very pleasant, knowledgeable and explained details. It was a great experience; he took the time to explain the procedure and what was going to happen during our first appointment. The doctor also told us about his background and made us feel comfortable and assured. He was a good doctor and they handled our insurance.

    I chose to use Ophthalmology Associates of the Valley because of other Angie's List reviews as well as a recommendation from a close friend. I appreciated the friendliness over the phone when making my appointment. I was surprised to receive the paperwork in the mail rather than have to sit and fill in paperwork in the waiting room. I had a mid-morning appointment and was able to park on the street at a meter. Everyone was friendly, the wait was short and It was a pleasant visit. I bought a new pair of glasses, which I picked out while I waited for my eyes to dilate. They were ready within two days. Awesome! When i went to pick them up, I was lucky enough to find a parking spot (meter) right in front. Very convenient as I had my 3 year old with me.

    It is a large office and he is very good.  He stitched up my torn retina and it is just great.  I haven’t had any problems with the billing; it’s hard to give it a grade when you don’t have much information about it.
