    Music Lessons
My daughter Laura can’t stop talking about Ms. Kristen and all of the music she is learning on the piano and ukulele! She practices in the house and counts the days on our calendar until her next lesson! As a mom, I couldn’t ask for a better teacher to share the love of music with my daughter. Ms. Kristen is so knowledgeable, patient and kind with Laura during each session and my daughter emulates her passion for music!

    Richman Music School
Howard Richman is an exceptional pianist and piano teacher, and I enthusiastically recommend him to both beginners and more advanced pianists, including those interested in classical music or virtually any other musical genre. Howard is also specialized in improvising and composing, and he certainly could help you in these areas. I personally have experienced his excellence when I began with him as a beginning student, but I also appreciated his pedagogical sophistication partially because I had performed professionally as a French horn player for many years. I also have appreciated his pedagogical expertise, given that I am a clinical psychologist and neuroscientist, who has some understanding of learning and brain functioning. Howard’s excellence stems from (a) his own pedigree of teachers, dating back literally to Beethoven; (b) his hard work in his own piano studies, and (c) over 25 years of developing a very detailed method for learning the piano. Every decent piano teacher teaches technique, musicality, etc., but Howard has developed a very detailed, step-by-step method focusing on (a) practicing correctly and efficiently, in contrast to practicing many hours per day, (b) learning to execute fast passages and without suffering from repetitive-use injuries, (c) sight-reading; and (d) setting goals that are short-term, medium-term, and long-term. The last one is psychologically very important in that it allows one to aspire to “lofty” longer-term goals while still learning simpler ones that can be realized much sooner. With Howard’s powerful technical suggestions, one can actually learn almost any piece of music by practicing very small segments just a few minutes per day and then over-lapping them properly. This keeps one’s dreams alive and actually makes them realizable. Finally, Howard Richman is a very positive and nurturing individual who really loves what he does and who profoundly understands the joy and healing power of music. If you choose to study with him, you may find yourself feeling awe at your own ability to make music that you may have once thought was impossible. Harold Harold Burke, Ph.D.

    Karine Mikayelyan
Mrs. Karine was wonderful. She is a member of the MTAC, which stands for Music Teachers Association of California; this is a big plus for us! Mrs. Karine had 20+ years of experience and teaches both the traditional and Suzuki methods. Our daughter is very picky and she loved Mrs. Karine right away. We have only been with her for a month and she has already taught our daughter so much. (We have some friends whose children have been going to a different instructor for nearly 7 months and they are on the same level as our daughter). She has the ability to listen to our daughter and determine where she needs more help and make the lesson more personal. She recommended starting with 30 minutes for our lessons and increasing the time as our daughter advances and reaches higher levels. We were super excited that she also rent and sells instruments, so we were able to rent the violin for her. As our daughter grows, we can just change the instrument size without having to worry about what to do with the smaller size. We are so happy our friends recommended us to Mrs. Karine. Our daughter is practicing for her first recital with Mrs. Karine and is very excited about her piece. Mrs. Karine informed us that she takes her students to the CM (Certificate of Merit test through MTAC), so I am looking forward to that as well as we can assess how much our daughter is learning. Mrs. Karine also teaches piano and viola. We are hoping to start our daughter in some piano as well after she hears some pieces during the recital.

Skype Guitar, Bass, and Ukulele Lessons
I've been working with Jeff for several months. It has really been great. I am not very musically inclined, but he breaks things down into simple sections and his methods have been really effective. I highly recommend Jeff.

    Joel Sturm's Music Studio
Joel knowledge of playing the trumpet (and wind instruments) is only the beginning of the growth you will experience under his instructions. He has a deep understanding and knowledge of music and also the keen ability to identify the pupil need, their strengths and weaknesses. His studio is clean and comfortable. Someone said "we learn from mistakes, but they don't have to be our mistakes" Don't make a mistake and in not hiring Joel.

Lou Tuman is a very knowledgeable and professional instructor. He demonstrates a lot of patience with my 10-year-old son, who really enjoys working with Lou. At first, I was skeptical about the idea of taking lessons through Skype. I thought they couldn't be as beneficial as being with the instructor in person, but I was wrong. My son is making great progress. We highly recommend Lou!
