    First I must say I am so glad Atticare was the company to come do my insulation and radiant barrier. Dave came to do my assessment and he was just wonderful to talk to. He gave me a full solution for my attic. I chose to do batts insulation and radiant barrier and I couldn���t be happier. The crew as he promised would be on time and be courteous the entire work day. They are so efficient they finished my 3,000 sq ft house in one day. Thank you Dave and Atticare for your great work!

    Communication was great, the representative has set up all expectations and time lines, company took care of all aspects of the job including all pepper work needed for department of building and safety permit approval.     Walter and crew arrived on time, taped and masked off areas of our home where dust could settle. They then went into the attic and vacuumed out all old insulation, old boards, rodent droppings, old ducting, ANYTHING that was in our attic! They were
    professional, polite, clean and knowledgeable and made sure to clean up after the removal was complete. They will return to put new insulation when we are ready for that phase. Usually, it is all taken care of in one day, but we have issues that prevented us from doing that. Atticare was completely able to work with us and set up a later date for insulation installation. I would recommend Atticare to anyone needing this procedure!

    Landmark Energy Upgrades
    My energy bills were going through the roof around seven months ago and I was pretty sure that there weren’t any energy leaks but decided to get an inspection on exactly what was going wrong anyway. After contacting quite a few energy efficiency companies, I came across LA Landmark Energy Upgrades and was relieved. They were educated, informed about the mainstream and alternative options. They weren’t pushy selling their services, but really cared for my situational needs. After an extensive evaluation and analysis, they suggested going for an energy efficient roof. I was hesitant to go through with it at first... with more expenses. Yet, I realized that the long term investment would be well worth it... and months later, I can say it truly was!!! After the installation, I saw that the bills came down by a huge margin.

    Landmark Energy Upgrades
    We received the phone number of this company from a friend that hired them and he was able to reduce his utilities bills by doing an efficiency audit that includes covering all the openings at the house (windows, HVAC, Doors etc.?.) and then with a machine, running the test and to see from where the house is losing most of the energy and to perform a repair that will prevent that in the future. Ezra and his team of workers came to perform the test and to see what need to be repaired or improved. The audit took close to 5 hours and then the machine that they used worked for additional 2 plus hours. After that was completed, we saw clearly that the problem was the windows and the HVAC. Ezra recommended us to perform a repair to both of them and then to run the test again. After the workers of them finished the repair, Ezra came once again and did the test. He was pleased with the results and so as we. During all the work, we saw how it was before and how it was after. We do recommend this company for that type of work! They are professional and honest people to hire and they carry all the relevant licenses as well.

    Building Doctors
    Building Doctors did an energy audit of our 1940s house, reducted, reinsulated and installed an entirely new HVAC system--two actually--for our 5000 s.f. property. I can't recommend them highly enough. The house is strange, with big gaps in the roof that needed to be insulated, an unconventional layout, and some unpleasant surprises (a dead rat in the uptake vent; 60 years worth of rat feces raining down on the workers). The most important thing to know about Dan Thomsen is that he is very smart, committed to doing what makes the most sense logically, financially, and environmentally, and governed by integrity. We spent more than we would have with another contractor, who recommended that we only reduct the top floor "because the bottom floor is a big pain" and I know that in the long run we will have saved not just money but regret for not having taken the right path from the start. That said, Dan also knew where we could save money, and COMPLETELY HANDLED the energy rebate from the government. Who does that?! (Check came directly to us, but he did *all* paperwork and the city inspector who came to evaluate the job told me that Building Doctors' work always gets approved, which he said was not true for most of the jobs he inspected. A rare, excellent, responsible contractor. You won't be disappointed.

    Zero Energy Contracting

    My husband and I choose to use Zero Energy as a general contractor for work done on our house.  The work included additional insulation for attic, full insulation for walls, new HVAC system and duct work, new roof, upgraded electric panel and solar panels.  The work went smooth enough with a few hiccups from the roofing company.

    The issue has started since the work has finished and we have started making payments on this considerable project (the end of November 2014).  The company is extremely unresponsive.  At this point I am cc'ing the CEO in all correspondences in hopes of getting things wrapped up. 

    As of today our Solar panels have not been connected nor do we have a meter installed.  According to our ZE contact it's the fault of LADWP.  According to LADWP it's the fault of ZE and that they have not submitted the required Solar Job paperwork.  Neither side seems to be taking responsibility and we are caught in the middle.  I have repeatedly asked ZE to keep me in the loop with weekly updates to no avail.  If I do not reach out to them I do not hear anything.

    They did a fine job. They were on time, they got everything else, they cleaned up everything after themselves, and they did exactly what they said they were going to do. It was good. The interaction was good. I had a feeling, I knew what needed to be done, I just wanted to find out. They came out the following week after I purchased the big deal.

    SolarCity - Los Angeles
    Solar City came recommended by a couple of friends who used them for solar installation on their homes. We thought to first get a home evaluation from them from going forward so we could have concrete number for improvement at the completion. I would like to say our experience was great, but unfortunately almost every experience with them has been extremely unsatisfactory.
    I originally called them back in May of 2013 and scheduled a Home Evaluation. A Home Evaluation was explained to me by Gina Sutton to include: (1) Blower Door Test, (2) Checking Insulation (usually in attic), (3) rating existing windows, (4)
    checking heating system, (5) check duct leakage and (6) checking water heater energy factor. This would all take several hours. I told Gina at that time we did not have attic access and she said oh I���m sure you do and I said no several contractors have been here and have not been able to access the attic. She said I���m sure the technician will work it out, they are very good at their job.
    Andrew Dunn, came out to our house about a week later. He said he needed attic access and I told him we didn���t have it. I told him I explained that when I made the appointment. He said we wouldn���t be able to check the insulation. He also told us do the blower door test, because our house was leaking too much air, but he could come up with an approximate number for the report. He also explained he couldn���t test the heating system and ducts because we had asbestos. He was done in about 20 minutes and wanted payment. I said oh, I need to pay with a credit card. He said he couldn���t do that, but someone from he office would call and get my information on the phone. I said couldn���t he just call them now and he said he couldn���t. I also asked since he wasn���t able to do most of the report, would they give me a discount on the evaluation price? He said I could discuss that when they called me for payment.
    On 06-07-13 they e-mailed me an invoice, but they didn���t call me, ever.
    Flash forward two months to early August 2013 and my husband and I are walking in Home Depot and are approached by two Solar City representatives trying to sell us solar for our house. I tell them I have had a bad experience with Solar City and don���t want to hear their pitch. They asked we what happened and I said it doesn���t matter I���m not going to buy from them. They say, ���No really, we really care, what happened?��� I explain the story and they tell me, that was when the company was changing over and we don���t even charge for Home Evaluation anymore. Let us go back to the office and talk to them and see if we can get this resolved.
    On 08-19-2013 Deedra Simmons sent my husband a Solar System Design for our house. No mention of our previous issue with Solar City and no mention of payment required. She has since followed up as recently as 11-11-13 and blanket e-mail from info@solarcity saying ���We are sorry to hear that now was not the right time to go solar with SolarCity. Is there anything
    we could do to change your mind?��� During all of the communication the Home Evaluation payment was never brought up to
    On 12-16-13 at 10:31am I got a call from 650-963-5100, it was a nice lady who said she was from SolarCity Collections and would like payment from the Home Evaluation. I was a little shocked and told her so. She didn���t know what I was talking about and I explained the whole story again. She said well I understand why you are reluctant to pay, I���ll talk to my supervisors and see what they say. She asked if I would be willing to pay half at that time and I said no, please discuss with your supervisors, since this is a service you no longer even charge for, I think you should write it off or at least heavily discount it.
    On 12-30-13 at 3:10pm she called me and explained she had talked to her superiors and they were still requesting full payment on the entire bill. I said ���really!?!��� She said she had talked to her supervisors, the technician and the Home Depot sales reps and they were requesting full payment. I said even though you originally weren���t able to do the entire job and presently don���t charge for the service? She said yes. I said, ���Fine I���ll pay you with my credit card and then can dispute it with the credit card company if I want���. She said, ���well we then won���t take your credit card payment���. I said I told you I would
    pay it, but she said if you are going to pay it with your credit card and the dispute it, you aren���t really paying it. She said I have a family to feed and could lose my job. I said what does your personal life have to do with my payment? How is that different
    than me sending you a check and stop payment? She said we can���t take your credit card. I said that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. She said,��� Well now you are calling me dumb���. I said no, I was calling that policy dumb, not you. I told her I will pay with my credit card right now. She said I now needed to talk to her supervisor. I could call 650-, I interrupted and said ���No, if you want payment, I'll pay you right now with my credit card, or they can call me���. Then she hung up.
