Acupuncture Treatment reviews in Van Nuys

What I liked about the service is the depth of explanation, but someone being a westerner like me I did not really grasp acupuncture fully until Dr. Nan himself explained it to me. So, he is very informative, thorough and I noticed a difference after two treatments, and I noticed that my overall vitality and health had improved. I cannot wait to get needles stuck in my face again.

It goes very well overall. The office is easy to get to, there is easy free parking, the office staff is friendly and supportive. The office environment is calming with music playing. The treatments themselves are comfortable and helpful. Dr Kim is a skilled herbalist and herbs provided result in clear benefit. Each visit is satisfactory. i like how doctor Kim takes a holistic perspective and advises me on how things fit together and need to be balanced.

I injured my back by picking up a throw rug to clean it. At first I thought it would get better; I went to work and proceeded about my day. By evening, however, I could not get up, sit down or walk without excruciating pain. I went to my HMO's Urgent Care, where I was told there was no nerve damage; I was given muscle relaxants, told it would get better in 6 to 8 weeks, and sent home. Because of my allergies, I wasn't even given pain killers. However, the following days, the pain was so excruciating that I could not even get out of bed. Fortunately an associate recommended Dr. Wells. I was able to get an appointment by the end of the week. I hobbled into the office leaning on my great-grandmother's cane; after an accupuncture treatment and an adjustment, I walked out with the cane under my arm. I won't say the pain disappeared immediately, but my range of motion and comfort level were so much better that I was able to return to work.
Dr. Wells is very knowledgable; he was able to figure out what my injury was even before he saw me, when I spoke to him on the phone. His adjustments are very gentle; I always felt better afterwards. His knowledge and expertise go beyond chiropracty and include exercise, diet and nutrition: for example, he recommended that I drink ginger tea to help decrease the inflammation around my injury, and gave me exercises to do at home between appointments to keep my spine aligned and help my back heal in the right position. He is warm, supportive and encouraging of his clients; from the beginning, he remarked on my strength and muscle tone, and told me I would be able to heal quickly and well. That gave me confidence. Dr. Wells's staff is very friendly and helpful. It's easy to schedule an appointment; the atmosphere in the office is relaxed and caring. I felt everyone in the office wanted me to get better.
Before this experience, I was skeptical of alternative medicine. I had never had accupuncture or chiropractic treatments. As a result of my positive experience, I am now a believer in both, at least for back injuries. I would strongly recommend him to anyone with a physical injury looking for an alternative to pain pills.
Two caveats. First, Dr. Wells does not accept insurance. You're on your own in terms of payments. I was happy to go outside my HMO to pay for treatments, because without them I would not have been able to return to work and do my job; it was worth every penny. You might not feel the same way. Secondly, engaging with alternative health care means you need to be willing to be responsible for your own health and make necessary changes in your lifestyle. For example, I had to arrange to work standing up, rather than sitting at my desk, during one of the busiest, most stressful periods of the year in my workplace. I had to do the exercises he recommended regularly, several times a day. If you don't want to engage in this way, maybe alternative medicine is not for you.

Beautifully.  Neither my wife nor I had ever had acupuncture and we were both quite apprehensive.  But T.J. had received such a glowing recommendation from two close friends, one of whom is terrified of needles, that we decided to call him. He arrived on time and lugged his equipment into our living room and set up. We had a conversation about what specific problems we had and then he began.  The treatment takes about 2 hours.  The first of which is the most wonderful massage you've had followed by the placing of needles in the problem areas.
My wife  and I both intend to continue with T.J. and strongly recommend him to others

He is very thorough; he spends a long time evaluating how and why you got the injury. He remembers every detail. Because he spends time with his patients, the waiting time is not great but it's worth it. His office is very clean and green. He will try to get you in as soon as possible if you are in a lot of pain even if he is booked.

The office is very pleasant and welcoming. The receptionist, music, and decor are all relaxing. The acupuncturist first asked where I was experiencing pain, then asked what may have brought on the trouble spots. She then had me lie on the massage table and placed heat packs on my back to relax the tense areas. After a few minutes, she came back in and started the acupuncture. The needles did not hurt at all, but provided me relief from my pain. She was very nice and made me feel at ease.
