    PetFirst Pet Insurance
We found PetFirst on the internet. We've been using them for about three years. They are very responsive. When you go to the vet, he usually faxes in the information and usually within a week you receive payment. A week to two weeks, anyway. The policy that we have offers for physical, for lab work and things like that are part of the policy. $250 of the fee we can use for general services like shots, training, flea control and wellness visits. They have been really great. Our dog did have major surgery done last year and they paid the full extent of the policy and no questions asked. We have to take her back in because it is a type of lycoma and they can grow back. So she is due for a checkup and we're hoping it is not back. I think that the pricing is good if you use all of the extras. I think they are a good company.

They're really good. They have come through for me in a couple of occasions and saved us a lot of money. They are very nice people to deal with. We had a cat a couple of years ago that had liver cancer and we went to probably one of the best veterinary hospitals in San Diego. They had to remove the margins where there was cancer until basically there's nothing left. They totally got the cancer out and basically cured her and I called the insurance company because the bill was close to $5000 and they paid close to $3500. The insurance was great. I was totally happy.

We pay a monthly fee. It has been very helpful for us. With the insurance we have been able to get all of our dog's maintenance shots. All the shots are covered in the plan. The only thing that is not covered is if he were required to have some type of surgery. Most medications are covered. It has saved us quite a bit of money. They are always very helpful and they handle our dog well. We are on our second year with them.

    Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
I am so glad we picked this insurance for our dogs.  They are as much life savers as are the veterinarians that are treating Molly.  Their insurance allows you to choose the best treatment for your four legged family member based on what is best for them and their quality of life without having to factor in the financial aspects.  Their claim submissions are easily completed and once you get them your dogs complete medical records the reimbursement is amazingly fast and they cover what they told you.  If you have a pet a dog you need to insure them with Healthy Paws.  This company not only is a great insurance for your pets but also gives back by rescuing/assisting other pets.  I could not be more satisfied with them, thank you Healthy Paws for saving our Molly and giving us the other half of her life that cancer almost robbed from us.  We compared and looked at many other companies prior to choosing them and our recent event with Molly proved we picked best of breed, both dog and insurance company! Cost to us was a little over 1200 and our beloved Molly has completely recovered and enjoying life!

Healthy Paws was amazing! After the initial $500 deductible, they covered 90% of the medical costs. There are no forms to complete. We paid the vet bill and then the vet/oncologist faxed the bill to Healthy Paws.  Within a week we received a reimbursement check.  They also covered putting Dakota to sleep. After Dakota passed away (month ago today), we received a sympathy card from Healthy Paws that was signed by many in the company. We have no idea who many of them were since we only submitted the bills & they would get reimbursed. But the fact that they would send a card, when they really didn't need to, was greatly appreciated. They care about the family and the pain they feel loosing a member of the family!

I never had to use them, luckily. I looked very carefully online and compared. I felt that they were very fair in what they pay you and what your options are. When your pet gets sick or needs surgery, they give you the option as to how much is the deductible and how much you want to be paid back. They do not pay for everyday wellness check. I like their price and I believe that they gave us a military discount. Take a look into their company and shop around. I think that they have a very fair product. I have talked to them online. It's hard to know how they will pay out when it all comes down to it but so far, I've had a very positive experience with them.

Only had insurance for 3 weeks when our dachshund was attacked by coyotes. Had made one $50 monthly payment and they paid for over $1000 of vet bills. Paid eithin 7 days of receipt of bills.

Pet lovers who really desire best health coverage for their pets - Healthy Paws is the one!  Our golden retriever Mojo has had a Healthy Paws policy for 18 months.  Three important take-aways during this time which endear us to Healthy Paws: 1.  Reasonable, low cost monthly premiums which provide good coverage.  We chose a $250 annual deductible with 90% reimbursable and our premium is $34/ month. 2.  Reasonable increases to premium upon policy anniversary.  Some background - first insurance company (ugh, Trupanion, separate review) which covered Mojo notified us 11 months into policy that premiums would almost triple at first anniversary.  Adios Trupanion.  Fast forward - eleven months with Healthy Paws we were notified premiums would increase $3 - reasonable. 3.  In first year with Healthy Paws, Mojo had lacerated paw with hospitalization expenses of about $1,300.  Healthy Paws not only processed reimbursement in 24 hours but followed up with Emails to ensure receipt and Mojo's recovery. Mojo and I highly recommend insuring your pets with Healthy Paws!

    Trupanion
Avoid potential Trupanion "bait and switch".  After initial research into pet insurance, Trupanion appeared to be a good choice.   We decided to insure our Golden Retriever Mojo with Trupanion.  Eleven months into our policy we received notice that premiums would more than double at first anniversary.  I was stunned and thought this must be a typo or miscalculation.  We had only filed minimal claims that didn't even come close to the amount we had spent on premiums.  I Emailed Trupanion and asked for clarification.  Trupanion responded that market segment for our dog justified this increase.  Let me get this straight, one year old purebred golden retrievers are a health risk justifying more than doubling premiums?!    Recognizing Trupanion was no longer a reliable source for coverage we conducted more detailed research into pet insurance companies.  Healthy Paws Pet Insurance and Foundation scored top marks in all categories.  We promptly shifted Mojo's coverage to Healthy Paws.  18 months later, I could not be more happy than being with Healthy Paws (separate review posted in San Diego location).   Mojo and I recommend avoiding Trupanion as unforeseen, unbelievable rate increases are a concern.

It took them forever to answer on a claim I filed. It's incorrect information. There making it based on something else. The kind that I bought was Accident. They put the claim that wasn't caused by an accident under that and then said it wasn't covered. The price is cheaper than others.
