Dmitriy seemed like a responsible person. He took notes and pictures of what I wanted done. Gave me proposal for the two scenarios I asked about. We verbally agreed to work together using the estimates he gave me saying everything we talked about was included though they were not spelled out exactly in proposal. Work started Jan 4th. EVERY DAY there was one problem after another. The quality of the work was terrible! I called Dmitry to look at the situation since he was not on the job each day. His way of handling the problems was to give me one proposal after another charging me more money to fix the problems his workers caused. Not once would he take responsibility for the poor workmanship. BUT if I would pay more they would fix it.! Finally after 10 days I told him and his workers to cease work and leave. The stress from all the problems really took a toll on me and my husband. The problems were not taken care of. During this time Dmitriy gave me 9 additional proposals trying to get more money out of me!! I gave him multiple chances to change and get the work done properly. The final straw came when he demanded I pay him $6000 more since he had no money to make payroll and I had to pay him with a check made out to him personally! After being harassed I did give him some of the money hoping if I helped him out he would take care of the issues at my house. That was a big mistake!!! I overpaid him $4000 and still have work that was not done correctly. Dmitriy told me one of his workers wanted to sue me since I treated him like a slave and he recorded me to prove it. I was reminded that this person is a minority. Not once did I treat anyone like a slave! Was I very upset and frustrated? Yes!! Did I speak to the foreman about the issues and Dmitriy? Yes, every day with a list included. Did I order any of the workers around? NO! I have had to hire others to fix the major issues I was left with. I still have many issues that need to be done but we have to do it ourselves since we can't afford to continue paying others to do this work. We are senior citizens so having to redo the remainder of issues is tough on us.
We have asked him to work off the money he owes us but he refuses saying all the work was done correctly. Again never taking responsibility for what happened. I have plenty of pictures to prove it. Soo stay away from Dmitriy and his company! We are filing a formal complaint against him with the state since he violated practically everything the state requires him to do as a contractor.

Mike was right about doing the above to help combat my growing utility bills.  The house is now much cooler in the summer, and warmer in the winter.  I have really saved on my utility bills!  The workers were wonderful and quick.  Answered all my questions and made sure both my gates were kept closed to keep the dogs inside the yard.  They unloaded materials in an area that was out of my way.  They cleaned up every night.  They made sure there were no pieces of roofing paper or nails left behind in my garden.  And when the job was over ~ they walked the area with me to make sure I was pleased with the job.  All of the workers were very respectful of me and very professional.  I had 4 bids on this job.  Mike took the time to answer all my questions and never rushed me to make a decision. His bid was not the cheapest ~ but his knowledge of his profession was what made him my #1 choice. I am very pleased with Mike, his employees, and the job that was done.  And extremely satisfied with 10% new tile.  It's a dead ringer  match to my old tile!

    Sherman Co
After a crooked contractor completely fouled up the reconstruction of a large2nd story balcony by, among other things, mounting posts for the surround rail system all wrong (at extreme angles to one another) and then absconding with $2+k of my money leaving me "hanging" with an unfinished project, I was desperate. Saw an ad in the local paper for Sherman Co. and called. Owner Barry Sherman. After hearing the tale of woe of a lady in distress, came that same day to look over the situation. He said he could fix and finish the balcony (was not overwhelmed by the challenge), and fit me in to begin the next day, which he did. Barry and his son, Gray, were not only competent but very skilled in all aspects of the building trades. They made the process as painless as possible by being punctual, organized (arriving with all the proper tools and materials to do the day's task), quiet and mannerly, efficient in division of labor and teamwork, neat and careful as they worked, and conscientious about cleanup when they finished both at end of day and end of job. Sherman Co. exhibited a work ethic and pride in their craft seldom found anymore. It took talent to rectify and complete my project and entailed figuring out and altering the design, extreme precision in execution and great attention to detail! In under 2 days the job was completed and the result was better than I ever imagined it could be! As I am a retired Interior Designer with more than 25 years of experience working with the trades, I feel qualified to evaluate and rate contractors. Plus, soon after Sherman Co. finished my small project, on my recommendation a friend hired them for a major remodel that entailed converting an upstairs bedroom into an "en suite" bathroom --- a very tricky redesign of the floor-plan that involved knocking out walls, cutting through a closet, rerouting hall etc. I ended up being involved from start to finish during about a 6 week period this summer and observed every stage. They did it all and did it well from the planning with her (no Architect) to the demo, plumbing, electrical, framing, dry-walling, texture coating, waterproofing, tiling, flooring, finished carpentry and painting. They also looked out for my friend's "bottom-line" as with their forethought of "re-purposing" materials that other contractors would have tossed in a dumpster, there was considerable savings to her. There was also an unusual circumstance with which the Shermans coped. Due to a family emergency, my friend had to be out of town for a month during the project! Thus, she appreciated not only how they continued without her but also how they prevailed when "unforeseen challenges" arose. During this time they accommodated her by communicating via long distance phone and by emailing photos as the work progressed. She was thrilled with her new bathroom and continues to comment on the fine quality of the work. I would recommend Sherman Co. wholeheartedly for any project large or small! I have taken the time and energy to write this lengthy review not only because I believe they are deserving of your patronage, but also because there are so many charlatans and con artists in the building trades (even I wasn't immune to getting ripped off) --- Maybe this will prevent someone else from having an awful experience like I did! :-)

Handyman Connection - San Diego South
The north county crew from Handyman Connection is fabulous. We needed a lot done but couldn't afford to go through a building contractor. I interviewed several handymen and Micheal Ferlita was the one handyman who could tackle this size job. In fact, he seemed to really enjoy figuring out how to tackle some of the trickier problems. He was not afraid to give me a cost estimate to trim back the rotten eves while others were insisting on time and materials. He was organized, planned ahead and came up with some good solutions to numerous unforseeable problems that came up with my "nonstandard" house. He tallied up and ordered the lumber for me (I paid for it, but with his discount). He wrote up a very detailed contract and came in exactly on time and budget. The price was very reasonable. The work took about a week. The house has never looked so good. Everyone really loves the deck he and his two assistants built. I can't say enough about Mike and his crew. They were hard working, professional, skilled, and very pleasant to have around. I absolutely plan on hiring them again.

Creative Touch Painting & Decorating LLC
Creative Touch was great - they were able to handle all aspects of getting my house interior and exterior repaired, painted, and ready for sale. I had already moved to another state and felt very comfortable just giving them the keys, knowing they would get the job done. I needed to have it done quickly and they were able to schedule it and complete it within 2 weeks. They did a great job at keeping me informed on how the job was progressing. Stuart is a perfectionist and did a wonderful job on the repairs. It was great to also be able to get the blinds done at the same time. The results were super and I'm sure it really helped sell my house quickly - My home was listed the Friday after the work was completed, shown on Saturday and had an offer that Monday. You can't do better than that. Thanks Creative Touch.

I got an estimate. It is probably fair, but I just don't have the money right now.
