    K-Designers Inc
I hired KDesigners to install siding plus insulation package on my stucco house. The workmen did an excellent job & the materials look good to me. The guys were quick and efficient. They worked until dark and anything I said needed to get done, they said "no problem".

    California Concrete Pump Pros
Charles met with me to give me a quote on building a retaining wall in my backyard. He was very personal and seemed professional. He said he could help me to install my retaining wall and would get back to me with a quote. I reached out to him once and never received a call back and have not heard from him again.

Ace's Garage Door Repair & Installation
Hani arrived on time & quickly diagnosed broken gears in my 12 year old Lift Master motor. He clearly explained my options to repair or replace the unit. He described the different price points & features that I could choose from as well as answered all my questions. I was impressed by his competence & care during the installation of the new opener. As promised, it was significantly quieter than my old unit. Hani also replaced both springs & garage door rollers with ease. He programmed the various remote controls & cleaned up to my satisfaction. Hani was very professional & competent. Overall, I was pleased with the result & would recommend Hani at ACE's Garage Door Repair without hesitation.

    Select Pavers
This was an offer for "$1,499 for Paver Stone Patio, Driveway or Walkway Delivered and Professionally Installed." I sent a proposed completion timeline which he said he could meet. Then over the next 2.5 weeks there was a lot of nothing. (About 1 week between contacts and some phone tag, which is understandable because I was hard to reach, as well.) However, 5 days before the date the job was supposed to be completed, Luis called and said to check the fine print of the deal, that this was for jobs at least 300sq feet. So the offer was $1500 for 100 sq feet, but for him to honor that I have to get 300sq feet of work done (3 times the offer that I paid for)...then, I pay the difference for the 200 extra square feet required to meet the deal requirements.
So, first, there is no 100sq foot patio deal, it's some sort of "discount" on a 300 square foot paver project. Second and more importantly, he said that the extra 200sq feet that must be included, would cost $25 per square foot! I don't see a deal here. Third, the 'fine print' clearly states that for the price I paid I WOULD get a 100sq foot patio.  Here's the detailed description:
    Here's the Deal:
$1,499 for a paver stone patio, driveway, or walkway delivered and installed (multiple material options available below)
Deal valid for up to 100 square feet; offer is valid for jobs with 300 square feet or more; extra square footage can also be installed for an additional fee
Offer can be applied to larger jobs
    Includes demolition
Choice of select pavers from Belgard; some paver choices may require an additional feeIncludes consultation for your project
Lifetime warranty on labor and materials
Includes materials, labor, and professional installation for your new 100 square feet patio in stone of choice

The last line is what upsets me. The thing is, I DO need other work done, apprx 1000 square ft of work, but this experience and these term will have me go elsewhere. On a sidenote, Luis seemed nice enough, he seemed polite and toward the end he apologized for the misunderstanding. Hopefully Angie's List will update the deal to what it really is.

    Legacy Construction

Joe, arrived on time as agreed to estimate the job. I had a detailed estimate and scope of work within a couple of days. The price was fair and Joe began work the following Monday. He removed old paneling, light fixtures and ceiling fan it the room addition. I submitted a change order, (actually about 4 or 5 change orders by the time the project was finished) for Joe to frame in the un-insulated exposed beam ceiling, install and interior wall and door dividing the room addition into a home office and a bar. Joe also installed electrical outlets, LED lighting, ceiling fans in both rooms , a new double pane window in the office and a new double pane slider in the bar. He insulated the walls and ceiling, installed sheet rock taped and textured, painted the walls and ceiling, installed a new tile floor and installed baseboard and trim. Once he completed this addition remodel Joe immediately began phase 2, installing a stamped concrete patio and adjoining walkway and a french drain.

Joe was punctual, he would clean the work area at the end of every day. He brought a lot of great ideas to the table, all of witch we incorporated in our project. His flexibility during this remodel was above and beyond, especially since there was a period of about a week where I had daily change orders. His attention to detail, customer service, and professionalism are well above the standard of most other contractors out there. I would not hesitate to recommend Joe, and Legacy Construction.

    Everlast Construction
Work began in early January. ?When they repaired the cracks and painted the whole house, they also moved all our furniture and belongings safely, put them back properly and completed the interior repairs, all in one week. ?They cleaned up after themselves, and did a walk through with us and asked us to notify them of any missed spots. ?They promptly fixed the few things we found, and the paint job was superb. ?(I love my new color!) ?Their crew were polite, on-time or early, and responsive. ?They worked with the city and provided us with the approved permit, and their documents and scope of work were well organized and clear - easy to understand. ?They provided us with their companies ratings, and offered recommendations. ?They had all their ducks in a row and were fantastic to work with. ?I wholeheartedly recommend this company. ?Their price was medium-high, considerably less than foundation specialists, more than some others, but their quality of work was worth it. ?We will be using them again this summer and perhaps later should we add on to our home.

Ace's Garage Door Repair & Installation
We bought the deal for a garage tune-up for $79. They scheduled it for 12/2, with a four hour window. Halfway through that window, I called and was told the technician was running late, but that he'd call me. He finally called, an hour after the four hour window, and without any apology, just said he would be here in an hour. I said it was too late, and they'd have to come another day. The next day they called and scheduled it for 12/4, with another four hour window. This time he did show, and immediately said we would need to replace parts which would cost $699. I asked if the $79 we had already paid was included, and he said it was. Weird, but I said to go ahead. I kept checking on him and he kept saying he was almost done. Finally, he said he was finishing up, so I got my checkbook and waited while he packed up tools. Then he tells me that he only replaced one drum because he only had one with him. Um. Okay. I asked if he had an extra opener with him as we needed to replace one. He said he did and brought it in. He then goes back to his truck, while I'm standing there waiting, and proceeds to chat on his phone for at least 15 minutes. I finally had to go out and stand at his window to get him to come back in. He then spends another ten minutes filling out the invoice. He gives it to me and it's for the full $699 plus $49 for the opener...which can be purchased anywhere for about $20. Of course, I question the billed amount, given that he only replaced one drum, and he tried to explain that he gave me the opener for free, since he didn't replace both drums. I had to point out three times that that made no sense, since the bill did not deduct the $49. Finally, he says his English isn't very good (his English was fine), and THEN he manually deducts the $49 from the invoice. Just a bit shady. Four days later, the garage door begins to catch and bind when we open it. I call them back. They schedule yet another four hour window to fix their bad work. I specifically request that they send a more skilled technician, and Nancy says she will. Guess who shows up? Mike, the same guy that had been here before. Mike makes some kind of adjustments, and then says he needs to replace the whole tube. "We won't charge you a service fee. Just the $49 for the part." you have the part? NOPE. He then tells me that he will go back and let Nancy know and they will call to schedule the replacement of the tube. Guess what?! THEY NEVER CALLED. Additionally, I will, going forward, be very wary of the 'Angie Deals' that are sent to us.

The repair man showed up early in the promised window. Like the gentleman who bid the work, he was courteous and efficient. He even did some extra tuning and lubing of the equipment, and replaced the lamp at no charge.

    RW Garage Doors Inc
Scheduled to leave town in 48 hours, when our garage door spring broke this morning, I was in a panic.  I chose RW Garage Doors from Angie's List and gave them a call - told them what happened and needing someone right away.  The rep told me he'd contact one of his tech's and get back to me.  The tech, Ryan, called me back within the hour and was headed my way - even gave me a 20 min window of his arrival.  He was right on time, assessed the situation and provided me with verbal estimate as well as recommendations (and why).  I gave him my approval, and he went to work immediately.  He had the work done within less than 1.5 hrs including:  replacing both springs, replacing spring roller bearing with metal one (vs. nylon one which had worn); replaced all existing rollers (which originally came with the door) that were pins inside a metal sleeve with ones that had ball bearings.  All in all, he did a terrific, quick job with obvious professional knowledge.  He was courteous and cleaned up when done.  The door's operation is remarkably more quiet than ever before!!  The total cost was $399 with "senior discount," and I gave him a personal cash tip for being so quick to respond, thorough and professional.  I most strongly recommend this company and tech to anyone needing garage door services.  We are very pleased!
