  • I first emailed pictures of our sofas to Off The Bolt.  The quote was $1200 for labor, including pickup & delivery, which I thought was fair. They also told us how many yards of material we would need.

Next we visited their store & were greeted by Sylvia. We were surprised to find such a large selection of beautiful fabrics. We explained what colors & material we were interested in & Sylvia directed us to the right samples. She made sure the fabrics we were choosing would be right for our sofas. She even offered for us to take the sample home to make sure it was what we wanted.

The difference between the $1200 for labor & the total cost of $2850 was the cost of the fabric we picked. Fabric prices vary, depending on choice, & are set by the merchant. Our pick was quite expensive but Sylvia contacted the merchant & negotiated a reduced price by $10 a yard.

The fabric had to be ordered & it took a bit longer than I had hoped for. When they received it, they made an appointment to pick up the sofas. The labor took about 3 weeks. Of course when you're looking forward to something new, it's never fast enough. :-)

We were contacted when they were ready & set a delivery date.

The couches arrived & I couldn't believe the workmanship--fantastic!. We had picked a striped fabric of different colors. Each line is perfectly matched at every seam. It is a work of art.

We're still trying to come to terms with our choice of fabric (not that it's not beautiful), it's just so different to the original fabric that we had lived with for over 25 years.

Our thanks to everyone at Off The Bolt.

  • It was a very positive experience.   Also they honored a special request for a removable cap on each chair to protect from kitty claws.   The chairs are far more comfortable than they were and it would go back to Off The Bolt for any future work.

  • Jeff was very professional and helped me design a layout that would be organized and attractive.  He offered helpful suggestions as to what may be the best use of the space.  The team was prompt and built the cabinets in a timely matter and charged a very fair price for the work that was done.  I had a bid from another company and am very glad I went with West Coast Organizers instead!  I will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

  • I spoke to the owner and he said he could come by the same day and told me he would call me to let me know he would be on his way. When he called I was not at home but let him know that I could be at my house within 20 minutes so he said he would rather just reschedule for the next day I agreed and we set up a time for the following day. Next day the appointment time approached and past so I decided to call and check if he was maybe running a little late stuck in traffic or something...so when he answers his phone I asked him if he was on his way and he said he forgot about the appointment then he said that he thought it was for a different day... very unprofessional if I would not have called I would have been waiting wondering if he was going to show up that's inconsiderate of my time. Guess he doesn't need the business if he just forgot about the appointment. would not recommend would not do business with someone who forgets about their appointments.

  • They whole experience was great. They were very helpful and professional. The sales associate, June, was also great and gave me a discount. He was very knowledgeable about his product and merchandise helped me make an informed decision. He did wonderful follow up and the delivery went very smoothly.

  • Ned arrived right on time, and worked meticulously and very professionally. We used Ned last year to tune our piano after many years of neglect. At that time he worked to get it into excellent condition, so that this year's tune-up went very smoothly. The sticky key didn't occur until after he had wrapped up the tuning process, but he spent some extra time with us (and didn't charge us) to trace down the slight adjustment in the mechanism needed to solve the problem. We have been very happy with Ned's work and will continue to use his company to keep our piano tuned.

  • We needed a new entertainment center built into the corner of our family room to accommodate at new TV.  We were told by another contractor that building at an angle would be impossible and that we should just tilt the TV.  We were also told that the unit would not be able to butt up against the brick fireplace, which would've been our preference.  Instead there would be a gap.
Enter Steve Kane at Rans Group Inc.  He came to our home and spent much time explaining exactly what he could do, and that included building the unit at an angle.  He did agree with the other contractor that the unit would not be able to meet the brick, as I had hoped.
I was unsure what the unit would look like, so he took all measurements home with him and brought back several versions of what he could do.  Again, he was in our home for quite some time.  He wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page and that we would be happy with his work.  That day we agreed on one of the ideas he had come up with.  Modified a few things, and sent him home with a deposit and a promised date for installation, that being  Tuesday, June 19th.
Last week he called me and asked if he could push installation to Friday.  I told him that it would be a problem as the TV installers were coming on Wednesday.  He said "no problem," he would make it work, and he did.
He showed up Tuesday...on time.  The unit in my family room is beautiful.  Perfect.  And for me...NOTHING is ever perfect!  Yes, it is at an angle like he promised PLUS he was able to butt it up against the brick!  He had said he didn't think he could do it, the other guy said "no way", but Steve found a way.  I'm impressed.
Where was Steve when we re-did the kitchen? Wish I had known him then.

  • Ned arrived on time and worked very professionally. He was pleasant to talk with and carefully explained the procedures he thought would be appropriate for how we planned to use the piano.  He worked cleanly and diligently and in a few hours had our piano sounding great! We are extremely pleased with his work and with his encouragement to bring the experience of making beautiful music back into our lives again!

  • After my Dad passed away in late 2006, I inherited a lovely old mahogany dining set (dating back to the 20's or 30's); one with great sentimental value as it was the one I'd grown up with. However, in the 40 plus years it had been in our family, it had taken on nasty signs of bad wear and tear. Grime, smoke and stains had marred the wood on the table and all six chairs, plus the bracing( which secured the table legs) was gone so the poor old table could only stand if placed against the wall! It was such a sad sight-- definitely due for restoration! After some shopping around,I hired a wonderful company called Old Friends Antique Furniture Sales and Restoration which I'd thought I'd found on Angie's list, (but,as I see no listing for them at this time, I'm entering them now.) I called the owner, Alan Beutler, gave him a brief description of what needed to be done and emailed him detailed photos. (I also told him that I'd be doing the reupholstering of the chair seats myself, as that part was fun and easy and would save me some money as well). In impressively short order he had an estimate for me, which I found most reasonable. Plus I had another (old oak farm) table that needed minor repairs which he also agreed to fix. (The total for everything, including pickup and delivery, came to $1840.00.) Alan and his assistant came and picked up all the furniture; leaving me the detached chair seats which I upholstered the following week and took over to the shop. At that point all the furniture had been stripped and a new brace for the table had been constructed and installed.I was blown away with the quality of the work, despite that it all had yet to be stained or varnished! While I was there, Alan had me choose a stain that I liked from some of the gorgeous antiques in his shop. We settled on a warm medium deep tone which would still allow the lovely woodgrain to feature prominently. A week later, I got the call that they were ready to deliver that weekend! I was beyond excited, and as it turned out, for good reason. This dining set has probably never looked this good since it was made--certainly better than when I first set eyes on it as a kid back in '65 when my folks bought it at an unclaimed freight in auction in Hollywood. This dining set now has a while new life-- the ultimate in recycling. I am absolutely thrilled with the results. One of the best and wisest investments I've ever made. Alan and his team are great and expert craftsmen, love what they do and it shows. I would recommend their service to anyone in a heartbeat, and if I had room for any more furniture, I'd buy it there. Alan has some gorgeous pieces...mostly turn of, to mid 20th-century. Great Mission and Craftsman, in particular.

  • After my Dad passed away earlier this winter, I inherited his lovely old wingback armchair. It's been in the family over 40 years, and it's original upholstery, while intact, was faded, catscratched, and downright funky. Time to slipcover, and hopefully without paying a king's ransom. I had seen this company recommended on Angie's List and another consumer website, and gave them a call. They said I could use their available materials or provide my own .I chose to go with theirs, and they mailed me some swatches in my color choice. I made my selection, and called them, whereupon we made an appt. for the cutting and fitting. This did take a couple of weeks as I'm quite far away, but Stuart, the company owner came by and cut the material(which I was excited about because it was even nicer than the swatch) to the chair. I paid him a deposit, 3-4 weeks later he came back and fitted the finished cover onto the chair, and I paid the remainder. The chair looks GORGEOUS! A++++!! I am thrilled.
