    Halo Flooring Co.
Norberto did an excellent job. Very on task, clean, efficient. The closet required some time to fit around partitions, but he did very well! Took a bit longer than he had planned to do it right. Excellent work. Delightful and courteous worker.

    Horizon Construction & Remodeling Inc
Horizon Construction & Remodeling in 2018 lied about getting City inspections done, damaged my home and covered up the damage, and left dangerous conditions throughout my home, leaving myself and my family at risk. For example, just some of the things Inspectors found: sharp roof shingles unattached on my roof which could have fallen and cut us; they left exposed electrical wiring in the attic = potential fire danger; extremely hot pipes not insulated, which could have burnt us, and more. The City is making me remove construction Horizon did because they lied about getting approval. DO NOT HIRE THEM. They are a dangerous company. They also gave a portion of the remodel to another general contractor (not as a subcontractor) without my approval. Horizon Construction (Mark Besnos) did not supervise this other contractor, whos license has been suspended and is being prosecuted by the California Attorney Generals Office. All of this can be confirmed. This was a big project and Horizon Construction & Remodeling took my money and have left my entire family devastated by the amount of damage they did to our home.

COIT Cleaning and Restoration of Los Angeles
Very prompt. Excellent customer service by technician including inspection, quote and cleaning. Protected areas used to extend hoses to carpet. Even assisted me putting on booties so I could inspect the job. Exceeded my expectations.

    Excel Carpet Cleaning
Enrique and his assistant arrived on time and efficiently assessed the work to be done. He? let me know before work started that the stairs were going to be an extra charge. I accepted and work was started. They protected corners, and took care not to damage anything. They worked on my carpet and afterwards they left my carpet like new. Many stains that I thought were set in were cleaned? beautifully. The carpet dried quickly, looked new,? and felt soft. I was very pleased with the results and their professionalism. I would definitely call them again.

    Cutler Construction Services Inc
Let me start by saying what a professional and thorough estimate Cutler Construction provides; detailed and concise. The best I've ever seen from any contractor.  I really have to single out my project manager, Ricky.  He was super patient and responsive to all my questions and concerns. Ricky stayed cool and collected even with a tough customer such as I.
Gosh, they have such great customer service, it is hard to say anything negative.  Unfortunately, their customer service far exceeds their quality of work.  Not all went as I had envisioned in my mind, but Josh  made it all satisfactory, at best, in the end .  What I mean is . . . Josh came back and finished/redid most of the work.
I share responsibility for some missteps by not defining every, single, solitary term in the contract.  Apparently, "install" means just that and taking measurements and leaving a finished appearance are not implied and should not be assumed.
The things that upset me were:
    1) due to no one measuring, a socket (though left within code) needed to be moved up or I would have had to cut off the bottom of the wall plate (which didn't work because it is screwless and would not snap back into place after being cut and just looked awful). In addition, a section of drywall had to be removed and replaced in order to move the socket. I feel I was wrongly charged for both these services.
    2) There was a clear lack of supervision,. When replacing the drywall section, the installer actually started drywalling around the wall plate on the new socket.  I ended up going in between processes and insisted he remove the plate. When the job was done, the patch did not match the wall texture ( to me it was left unfinished and I was instructed to "just knock the big pieces off after it was dry"), the socket was crooked, the wall plate was not flush with the new drywall and they got more caulking on my newly painted wall in a section that had already been redone by Josh and did not need to be touched at all!  Even when Josh returned to redo the drywall, he failed to caulk the six inch section that remained after the first redo he did on the sidesplash  and backsplash and ignored me when I told him I felt the socket was still too low
The more I think about it, the more irritated I get!.
3)When the vanity and backsplash were  installed, I wasn't told until afterward that one of my walls leans and the other is bowed and that left gaps between the vanity and backsplash and the wall.  When I saw the results, I immediately went out and purchased, cut and painted some moulding to cover the vanity gaps.  But, Josh came and nailed them in and filled a 1/2" gap between the backsplash and wall. on one end, with caulk at no additional charge.
    4) When the security screen door was installed, it was mounted to an existing frame and the bottom did not meet the threshold. When I mentioned it, they installed a bug flap (which I was charged for) and there is still a gap between the flap and the threshold.  Problem not solved.
    5) I never received any kind of apology for the shoddy work that had to be redone and for the time wasted.
In my mind, part of what I hired them to do was measure and make sure everything fit and for everything to be finished looking.  However, I understand now that, in my situation, they were simply installing the materials provided.
Update: I felt I was being kind with my review, but after reading their response I gave a more accurate assessment of their services. First of all, my first visit from them was April 22. Once I chose them, I had to wait almost a month until they had an availability. So, months? Really? Next, my first vanity was brand spankin' new, in a box from Home Depot. I can't prove they were responsible for the damage, but who would install a broken item in the first place? And that is why i believe I wasn't charged for them to return. They didn't do me any favors and to act as such is a joke. My tile indeed came from a second hand store, and that part of the project came out fine. As for the toilet, I had an emergency the week before they were coming and had all new parts including the valve replaced by someone else. And the toilet still runs intermittently (at least twice a day) after Cutler replaced valve. Their $7000 job reduced because I used the flooring store's installers at a much better price. If they didn't like my materials, they didn't have to take the job and they supplied the door. It's a screen door, obviously not meant to be airtight but it would be nice if it could keep critters out! If expecting a finished looking result is "criticism and drama" , and being impossible to please, then I proudly accept the Award!
Update #2, December 2, 2015:  They took the time to write a crappy response, but not to call me and arrange a time to fix the toilet that still runs intermittently and is under warranty -- That says it all!  Theydo not stand behind their work and warranty.
Update #3: December, 10, 2015:  Josh came by on Monday of this week and looked at the toilet and said it was probably something to do with the flapper.  Today I received an email saying that they did not replace the flapper, so basically it's my problem.  So, they installed a brand new toilet and used a possibly 50 + year old flapper. Let's ask. . .  Who does that?  I can tell you!

Belmont Carpets & Wood Flooring, Inc
I called the night before to confirm installation and was told the crew would arrive at my home between 9am and 10am.  It was a good thing I didn't run any errands because they arrived at 7:50am.  Better early than late, I figured.
Almost everything else involved in the installation went great.  My decision to use Belmont's crew was a good choice, they clearly have the experience.  On the down side, I knew they were not going to paint the baseboards, but I thought they were going to fill the holes left by the nails, but that did not happen.  Also, they forgot to caulk the baseboards in the bathroom, had to come back the next morning, were late (making me late) and did sort of a sloppy job of it.
Unfortunately, it has been like pulling teeth to get my final receipt and copy of my credit card charge.  I have made the request 3 times and not received the paperwork.

    Excel Carpet Cleaning

The two workers showed up on time and did job as promised. I wasn't sure a few spots could be brought back, but they did do a good job of cleaning our beige carpets. Would use them again.

    Epic Interiors and Construction Inc.

The entire Epic team was excellent and the thing that really impressed me most was their commitment to getting every last detail right, to complete the job 100%, down to the last few inches of paint.

We called Epic originally to help with our water damage but they ultimately became our contractor for replacing the floors and countertops.  Their advice regarding materials was awesome - where to go, what was in our range (given the insurance estimate) - and we ended up with wood floors and granite countertops way beyond anything we imagined.

We worked with Kelly Rogers and he's a true professional and very good guy to work with and is extremely knowledgeable in the whole process we were involved in - from insurance to safety to construction, etc..  We're contemplating redoing the floors in our foyer now and there is now doubt who we'll call.

Summarizing, I can't recommend Epic strongly enough.  If you're still trying to decide which contractor to pick, look no further, give Kelly a call.  You'll get the best price, the best materials in your price range, and the best advice on every aspect of the job.

    Carpets 4 U
Installers were professional and efficient.  Turns out I did not need padding in 2 of the bedrooms so was given a $2 discount on the yardage price as a result.  Owner called me a few days after installation to make sure everything went well.  Definitely satisfied with the service and workmanship.

    Designers C & M Flooring
Great. Steve is a professional. I was concurrently investigating another contractor, and he was patient and informative during those few days. Didn't cop an attitude.  He gave me options for him doing everything, and me getting the materials from a friend in the business. My friend couldn't get what we wanted, so I hired Steve to do the whole thing. He was the least expensive of the 3 estimates I got. My wife is very particular and he sent us to his distributor so we could see all of the materials. His rep was very nice and helpful, too. Steve had a big job and worked hard. He did not nickel and dime me over small scope addtions, and charged me fairly for some additional, unforseen work. I will sole source Steve in the future.
