    Property Care and Construction Services
Chris was very punctual in responding by electronic means as well as in person. We were in a time crunch to close escrow and Chris got everything done in record time and worked with realtor, termite inspectors, and tenants graciously. His price was excellent for superior quality work. His cleanup afterwards was so meticulous that no one would suspect that there was any construction work performed. Id definitely use this firm again!!! Thanks!!!

In 2011 Greg replaced my deck and railings within 3 years the balusters rotted and the nails were popping from the flooring and the wood was cracking. I called Greg many times left many messages within many months and Greg never returned my calls. Greg also replaced my neighbors deck and the same thing happened to her. I guess between her and I calling he finally came out. Greg looked at my deck and said I'll have to send you an estimate on replacing the balusters. This man DOES NOT stand behind his work and have not heard back from him since. After hiring another contractor, I was told he used framing wood on the floor and indoor balusters for our railing.

I bought the Big Deal which was just for a single top coat to reseal the deck surface.  However, my deck was in a little bit worse shape than the deal allowed.  However, Ryan was awesome and added in sanding and then did the reseal for no additional charge.  The surface is not perfect but that is due to the rough pre-condition it was in and not his fault.  Shortly after the reseal the deck drains started leaking in to the garage below.  Ryan and crew came out again to fix the drain at no additional cost.  Again, this was not in the deal I bought but they provide such great customer service.  I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to friends and neighbors!

Mike Spencer came to give an estimate. He was very professional. He told us that the damage to the garage door was not repairable and that we needed to replace the entire panel. He told us to request a refund from Angies List.

    All Pro Remodeling
I did not use them because of the fact that they were so overpriced it wasn't funny. I got it done for $11,000 less. Because I didn't say anything to them, they called back after about 6 months and said that they would give me a 20% discount. The 20% of $30,000 is $6,000. You got it done for $11,000 less so now you're not paying $11,000. You're only paying $5,000 more for it and they think that they are giving you a deal or they are trying to make it look like they are giving you a deal. If you keep All Pro on your books because they pay you, I don't use any Angie's List anymore neither if you keep that one. When he was out here talking to me, I knew what his quote was going to be and I was right on. He said he has been doing this a long time and he said he knows approximately where it's going to be. Keep to yourself what you're going to say because you're just giving me an estimate of what you think it's going to be. You can't find out what it's really going to be until you do the numbers. I figured that they would come in right at $30,000. Sure enough, they came in right at $30,000. That did not include the cement at the bottom. That was going to be extra. I got it for $11,000 less and that included the concrete so I got it for a lot less. These people are absolutely just out to gouge the heck out of people and anybody that keeps them on their records, I don't need to do business with them because that's telling me that they don't care neither. They were nice people but the whole thing with it is that you can still be nice and still be rotten at the same time, and that's exactly what they were because they were trying to overprice you. Why would they have to do that? Because of the advertising and the people that they pay. That's what it comes out to be. When you have a higher overhead, you have to charge more. The people that I used were great, they were very very reasonable, and the project came out so good, it wasn't funny. They weren't very responsive because they had to know what the problem was. They already knew what the problem was. I only did the estimate with them. Their price was so high that I knew I wasn't going to use them right from the very beginning. They came out on time. If you're going to charge somebody $11,000 or more than what the project was, I'd be punctual too.

    The Termite Guy
There was nothing dramatic about this job. It was a remove and replace operation, so we didn't get any enhanced value !
The work was done well, and the final result was exactly what was needed. We also had them replace some trim on other areas of the house. All of the work was done well, and painted. The end result is a clean look, and no more dry rot or pesky termites.
Some of the work required cutting in to match the previous construction. It was all done with precision and looks exactly as it should.
This company has done work for some of my clients in the past and everyone has received a good job at a reasonable price.

    American Home Remodeling Inc
American did everything they said they would and did it right from the initial visit by their salesperson to the final coating on the deck. Jeff Johnston, their construction manager, oversaw each step of the process and the final product is exactly as envisioned. I would hire American Home Remodeling again in a second. They are one of the good guys.

The deck off my master bedroom looked great on top, covered in travertine, but began growing mushrooms on the underside, after heavy rains in December. I sent Ed Bourke an email on a Sunday to ask for a bid to remove the travertine and any other materials on top of the deck joists, and replace them with Azek planks. I got a phone call reply from him within an hour and he was out to see the project within 2 hours. Mr. Bourke was low pressure, knowledgeable and professional. His price was a bit lower than other bids I got. The job turned out to be more work than Mr. Bourke expected because the deck had layers upon layers underneath the travertine that were a real pain to get up. He never complained or asked for more money. His men, Reggie and Alfonso, kept at it until the joists were cleared off after two days work. Extra support had to be added to support a few of the planks. They removed stucco down to the tar paper to install the flashing correctly, that had been put in wrong before, allowing water to get into the wall and come down inside my kitchen window, below. The wall was re-stuccoed and painted. The job took 7 days from start to finish. I emailed Mr. Bourke many times to ask questions and he was always extremely prompt answering me and was always professional. I always knew when the guys were going to show up and they always were prompt. The painters he used did a fine job and even did some extra caulking that I asked for, even though it wasn't part of the job. The deck looks very nice. I was happy with the low stress level I had with Bourke Construction since I hate having my house worked on. I did mark down professionalism from an "A" to a "B" for one reason. Although Ed Bourke was very professional, Reggie, who worked on the deck was not as professional, dancing to his headphones and singing. I understand that listening to music can make work more enjoyable but I did not find it very professional when I wanted to talk to him and he would sing in my face.

    Patio Warehouse Inc
I have an upper level deck of travertine, off my master bedroom, that is growing mushrooms out the bottom plywood, so obviously it is wet and needs to be replaced. I had decided on an Azek deck before calling Patio Warehouse (Jeff Shore) and only wanted the deck itself replaced, as the supporting joists, and railings with glass walls, are in excellent condition. I had already seen three contractors before calling, but since Patio Warehouse has experience with Azek materials, I wanted to get his bid. ...I honestly felt like Jeff Shore was a "Used Car Salesman". He wasn't listening to what I needed, but only what he wanted to sell me. I told him twice that I didn't need to replace the glass wall or railings on the deck. I didn't want to paint my support columns, either. To his credit, he did draw up his bid, at my house, but his price was close to DOUBLE what my other bids were, i.e. $14,124 vs about $7,270! When I told him it was double my other bids, he started the "used car salesman" tactics, and started cutting prices in half. At this point, I was done with him. I don't need a contractor to play those games with me! His final price was still $1,500 more than the contractor I chose to replace my deck. Update: I am at a loss as to the response from Patio Warehouse. Do you even have the right house? My house is only 17 years old to begin with so there's no way I had 30 year old joists. They joists were uncovered by my contractor when he removed the old deck and before he put down the Azek planks. They were in perfect condition. I have photos to prove it. Also, Patio Warehouse gave me a bid. There was no case of them unwilling to take on this project.

Eddie was very professional from start to finish. It was the first time I've ever had a good experience with a contractor. As the decks were torn apart, we found that more and more of the original wood had to be replaced because of water and termite damage, so basically he had to replace most of two decks and repaint one. Reggie and Alfonso were terrific. They were reliable, had a great attitude, cleaned up at night, and worked even in pouring rain (with their sweatshirt hoods pulled up over their heads). My biggest concern was the painting of the decks. We'd had a new deck built four years ago and the paint began to chip and peel after only one year! Eddie's paint contractors, John and Steve ,really knew the chemistry of paint and knew how to prepare the wood correctly before they painted so I won't have the same problem. I would use Eddie and his crew again in a heartbeat.
