  • We were in a tough position having started a remodel with a contractor that we had to terminate. We had been looking for several months for another contractor. We sought out Lou based on Angie’s list reviews versus a General Contractor. Lou’s operation is as a construction company and relies mostly on his own crew. His crew is great to work with. As other reviews have attested they are prompt, clean, respectful and do a full days work. They clean up at the end of the day and set a high bar that other contractors don’t meet. Lou was coming in on a project that had already started having had drywall up. As part of starting conditions we had to pay for the exploration and redoing several areas. I questioned the necessity of some of the rework, but that was the condition to have Lou take on our project. The electrical from the previous contractor had to be redone, but even with that we did not pass the final electrical inspections and we had more costs at the end. Windows and doors schedules were all very long, (I think it is an industry issue). Lou had promised a quick turn around on 2 windows if we ordered a standard window, but the delivery ended up taking as long as if we had ordered custom. Lou’s communication style is mostly emails. The routine is to speak with the foreman and he presents issues to Lou. We found this inefficient. I had an intense professional schedule during the time frame of our remodel with Lou and his insistence on email impacted many work hours for me. On numerous occasions, a short phone call with an email confirmation could have eliminated back and forth emails. While Lou does this to have a record of communication, he still missed confirmation, and specification that I had spent the time to craft in email. Several caused financial and schedule impacts to our project. Some of our initial designs glossed over how corners or materials would complete. Lou and his crew were great in figuring out these transitions. Lou stands behind his work, which is a plus. He will rework an area that is not correct. However in a few instances if our initial direction had been followed, reworking would have been unnecessary. As other reviews have stated he comes back to fix minor issues that occur after the project has completed. ( Circuit breaker warranty, and cracked tiles, etc). We had several warranty issues with Kohler during the project and Lou did not charge us for the labor to replace the warranty product. We ended up supplying most of the finish material ourselves. He provided the construction materials. While Lou puts an exclusion in his contracts about the match of a transition from existing to new construction you would be hard pressed to pick them out in our completed project. Matching the texture in both stucco and drywall is almost seamless. We had a cutting edge master bath design. Lou’s foreman for our project was detailed and instrumental in the tile layout, and we’re very pleased with the finished product. Lou went to bat for us on several issues we had with the inspector because of the master bath we had designed and ultimately prevailed. Lou supplied several custom cabinets (Master bath and laundry room). We found them to be adequate, and the cabinet maker stands behind them, but in the master bath the cabinets had to be removed and trimmed down 2 inches. They also ended up not being level, therefore the countertop is subsequently not level. In contrast, for our kitchen we had already sourced semi custom cabinets and as far as overall quality, we prefer the cabinets we had sourced for the kitchen. Lou saved our project for which we are very grateful and we wholeheartedly recommend Stone Age. It does come with a price but you’ll be happy with the crew and the results

  • I was coordinating a renovation of a condo on behalf of my parents in preparation for selling it, and doing it all from afar. I hired Gary & his crew at GK Painting to patch and paint the ceiling above the kitchen in the condo after we had canned lights installed. His price was FAR better than the other quote I got, and he was very responsive. When his crew arrived they found that a small area of nearby ceiling had texture, so he informed me that texturizing the ceiling I hired him to fix/paint would cost a few hundred dollars extra. Since we were selling it and I was trying to stay on budget for my parents, I told him they could skip texturizing, even though it wouldn't match the small adjacent area. The next day he said he would have his crew texturize the area anyway, at NO additional charge, because it was the right thing to do and he couldn't stand the job not being done correctly. I appreciated his dedication to a job well done, his consistent communication, and his fair price. I would definitely recommend him to others and hire him again for future projects! Thanks, Gary!

  • Although I often use Angies List, I did not hire this business through them; but I do recommend them :) I am very impressed with this company. I am picky since I have had issues in the past with other companies workers. Because of past issues with workers blasting their music, yacking on their cells constantly, leaving messes and washing their vehicles while on the job; I asked for: No music being played by workers, no being on cell phones while working, no washing their vehicles with my water, to be clean and behave like an adult when using my restrooms, and to clean up after themselves. Uri made sure that the workers abided by my requests. Uri was great. He checks in regularly and is there for your questions, and was there to see any issues were handled. Other companies I've used in the past did not do this. The workers were great; all very nice, hard workers who showed up to work on time and behaved in a professional manner. The cost below does not include cost of tile or paneling but does include the paint and other materials needed for the projects.

  • Fred and Ali met with us at the house and we discussed the project. We did not have a clear plan as to what we wanted to do but both father and son had some great advice and suggestions. By the end of our first meeting, we had a pretty clear plan and knew we could trust Deco with our project. The work began promptly, Fred or Ali were constantly visiting the job site, following up with our many requests and changes, and making sure we were kept up to date. As the work progressed we were more and more excited about our new home. The owners are knowlagable, the workers are courteous and skilled. Over all the experience was great and we would deffinetly use and recommend Deco.

  • The job went really well. John showed up on time and was really professional. He explained how things could be done, and, with the floor tile, he gave us two options for repairing it. The thing I really appreciated was that he was neat, keeping his tools on a drop cloth and he cleaned up as he worked. I have used him before and will definitely use him again.

  • We spoke and scheduled an in home meeting with Fidelity Builders & design and we met with Tal. After that meeting, we knew that’s he is the one who should manage our home remodeling project. Tal did a wonderful job my designing and planning the kitchen that we really wanted and dreamed of. Our delay with the project was because we took a loan that will cover the remodeling expenses. At the end when we got approved, we called again to Tal and he came back to our house several days after and because we had everything planed already, all we had to do is to sign the contract. The remodeling project started immediately and Tal was at our house each day and monitored every task while talking to us and making sure that we are happy with the progress. Our fear was the stress that come with the remodeling but Tal really made sure that it will be a fun one. Tal kept us informed about each section of the remodeling work and he even texted us pictures of the work. We really enjoyed having them at our house and when they finished the remodeling project, they even gave us a nice gift with chocolates! Overall Fidelity Builders & Design is a wonderful construction company and we are very happy that we hired them.

  • the project went great, one of the painter removed the door knob before painting, but when they installed back the knob, they weren't able to install right so they have to come back & replace the doorknob, they did a great job on the painting and the replacement of the doorknob was good. The owner later called and thanked me for their service and sent me a starbucks gift card, I was surprised that the owner actually called, I was expecting just a member of the company to call.

  • It went very well, They prepared the ceilings after another contractor removed the asbestos popcorn ceiling. They then textured every ceiling in the house except the kitchen and bathrooms. They also installed and painted crown moulding in three bedrooms and the entry hallway. They did a very good job and I would use them again.

They repeatedly provide me with valuable advice, feedback, and over-the-top support that far exceeds my expectations. Thank you.

  • These folks are the best painters we've ever used. James (the owner, I think) came in and gave us the estimate as well as a referral to Spectacular Trim. We needed to have baseboards and some door trim installed as well. Paul did a "spectacular job" on that as well -- see that review! Once the new trim was in place, Jay and Carlos arrived to paint. They were on time, personable, and professional. First day was preparation. ALL the floors were covered as were the cabinets and the furniture. Sanding and filling was expertly done. A really gorgeous job of filling all the holes and repairing the dents and dings that come with living in a house. At the end of the first day the kitchen walls and ceiling were painted with primer and the rest of the house was ready for paint. At the end of day one, Jay and Carlos cleaned up and there was really very little dust to deal with for us. Day 2 they arrived promptly and the color painting started in earnest. Again, very, very clean, fast and professional. At the end of day 2 all that remained to do was the baseboards with the trim color. Day 3 they finished the baseboards, removed all the drop cloths and such, reattached the flat screen TV to the wall mount, and generally left the house very clean. In fact cleaner than other painters. These folks really know their business and perform it with care and consideration of the homeowner. When we are ready, we will contact them to paint the exterior of our home. Thank you House Painting, Inc.!!
