Appliance Repair reviews in Topanga

  • we have hired Judah twice, once to service our two HVAC units and another time to fix a problem with our dryer vent. We live in a hard to find place, but, Judah was on time both times--which we very much appreciate. He came with a smile and did the work requested in a timely fashion, and in a good workman like manner. We would use his services again and would recommend him to you.

  • I purchased a $75 deal for multiple appliances through Angie's List for Universal Appliance  which included 1 hour 's labor. I called and was told the repairman would be out that day. When I didn't hear back from them, I called Angie's List to have them confer with their vendor. The company then called me back and said that they could be there in two days and gave me a time of arrival. The worker was on time.  He diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes. He then told me it would be $310 for labor and $15 for parts. He further stated the repairs would take about 40 minutes(25 for the dryer and 15 minutes for the dishwasher) which was within the hour's time given by the deal.  I showed him the deal and he called his supervisor who told the repairman it would be $240. I then called the supervisor  myself and he told me to "find somebody else".  THIS IS A SCAM. If you decide to purchase a deal from this company GET THE DEAL CONFIRMED BEFORE YOU WASTE YOUR TIME. I called Angie's List and reported the incident. They would contact Universal Appliance  about my complaint. The next day Angie's list refunded the price of the deal to my credit card.

  • He did a good job but it was not a deal. He informed me that the price would have been the same deal or no deal.  However, overall he did a great job. I ended up spending a total of $150.00 for the parts and labor.

  • I originally met with Igor in January to discuss repairing the door to our "vintage" Thermador electric oven, which wasn't closing properly because of worn out hinges. Also needing replacement was the glass window in the door and a heating element. Igor quoted a price of $500 or higher (I'm uncertain and there's the rub). Said price struck me as high, so I waited. I finally decided to bite the bullet and also have Igor rehab our ailing Thermador electric cooktop as well as the oven. Regarding the cooktop, he suggested a cost of around $500 to replace the heating elements and connectors and an on/off indicator light. I showed him some printouts of new cooktops that could be had for substantially less, and he agreed to work with me on that. Or so I thought.
It all took some time, but parts needed to be obtained and, at some point, Igor took the oven door in order to have glass custom made for the broken window. We were without a door, looking at a gaping oven for a couple of weeks, but then again it is fair to say that custom work can take time. Igor is prompt and responsive when he has what he needs. Very much so.
On the day of repair, Igor encountered unanticipated challenges, but overcame them and got the job done thoroughly and well. All seems to be working fine, though we have not yet used the oven. But having the door close properly is worth the price of admission.
My one area of concern: price. Probably I am not the best at managing this part of things, but I would suggest that if you use Igor, and Igor can fix appliances well, write down clearly what is said so there is no misunderstanding. I was surprised that the final bill was as high as it was.

  • They charged me a $99 service charge even though the unit was just unplugged. All they had to do was plug it back in. He could of said, hey look it's unplugged, why don't you plug it in. Then he wouldn't have had to touch it and charge me $99. The service men are good and know what they are doing but GE is a rip-off company.

  • I found him on Angie’s List. My experience with him went really well. He runs the business along with his father. They had a hard time diagnosing it. His father came out a couple of times until he could repair it and there were no additional charges. He charged me just for the part; there was no additional charge for labor. They just made it right; they made everything right. It was for a rental property that I have. It was the nicest experience that my tenants had ever had. I dealt with the son over the phone and talked briefly to the father. They were great. They stood behind their work and did a great job. Everything is working as it should be. I chose them because they had great reviews. I spent $148 for their first visit and $65 for the additional part. They did not charge me for another visit. I would definitely use their services again in the future.

  • We I found AAA (aka Nationwide Appliance Service Inc) on Angie's list. They came out on a Sunday morning! Estimated time was 8:00am to 9:00am and Boris was at our door at 8:00am. Once Boris diagnosed the issue, he advised that one of the parts was not in stock and would have to be ordered which normally takes 1 to 3 days. We emptied fridge and freezer (not fun to toss food out) at his recommendation and shut it down so the compressor would not operate continuously and cause damage. The very next day, Boris called and advised he had the part. He was kind enough to come back Tuesday evening (to accommodate our schedule) and repaire the fridge in about 35 or 40 minutes.  These guys really do work 24/7 which I sincerely appreciate. My only reccomendation would be for them to carry a larger stock of parts which would have saved them a second trip out (and our food ;-).
Heads up they take cash or credit cards only, no checks.  Overall - yes I'd recommend them.

FYI - I left a voicemail at Lerman Appliances (based on Angie's List recommendations) at 2:00pm on Saturday. They didn't call back until mid-Monday morning.  The info on the site indicates they are open until 4:00pm on Saturday.

  • My aircondioner broke down during heat wave in Los Angeles. I called Nonstop appliance at about 4 pm with the hope to schedule service for the next day. Apparently, Danny, the technician, came over the same day at late hour. It was already dark, but he got on the roof and fixed electrical problem with my airconditioner. I will definetely hire this company again in the future.

  • He came in and assessed the problem, went out to his truck to get the new part and put it in. He was quick and had the necessary tools and parts to do the repair with him. It saved a lot of time instead of having to order the part or running back to the shop.

  • Great. Still ongoing, actually. Awaiting a part. But Matt came out a second time at no charge, and said he would adjust his fee for the next visit based on the first visit. (When the fridge was not completely repaired.)
