Electrician reviews in Thousand Oaks

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I've delayed writing this review as I have been trying, in good faith, to resolve my issue with BKElectric. However, it seems that this electrician leaves me no option but to begin next steps in gaining a satisfactory resolution. I hired BK Electric Services via a search and recommendation from Angie's List. I now see on Angie's List that this contractor has multiple listings w similar names, and importantly one of those listings indicates NO contractors license, while another states they are a licensed contractor. I repeatedly asked for their contractors' license number and have not received a response. One screen shot below will show you how Angie's List has removed their former listing for BK Electric that was sent to me in an email for review, now I see BKElectic is now calling themselves B.K. Electric Services with same phone number and name of Alexis as company contact. In August 2018, I hired BKelectric or B.K. Electric Services, whichever they would like to refer to themselves, for the installation of a ceiling pull chain, removing a remote control prior system. This was an easy task accomplished in little time. While "Gustavo" was here, I showed him the ceiling fan in another small bedroom asking him if the fan was too small for the room. "Gustavo" turned on the fan and informed me that it was operating too slow, and that they did that as they got older, mind you the fan was approximately 3 years old. Since he was here, I quickly ran out to a local hardware store to pick up a new fan. "Gustavo" installed it. There was clearly something wrong with it, as the lighting fixture was quite crooked and the fan blade seemed to brush against the motor making a loud grinding sound. I expressed my concern to Gustavo. He told me that I needed to "just push the fan to the other side so it wouldn't run". He did so in my presence. Clearly I was not happy with this, as the fan it replaced didn't require this ceiling reaching activity to run well. He said he had no time to wait while I ran to get another fan, but stated the fee for the installation was $350, I paid this fee, though in retrospect, I never should have. Within a couple of weeks, it was clear that this situation would be unacceptable as I am a senior and unable to reach the fan to kept up the required pushing to the left, and really, how absurd to leave someone in this situation. I began contacting BK Electric, again whatever name they now call themselves on this website, requesting that they come to remove the fan. I had contacted Lowe's, who informed me that if I brought the fan back, they would replace it. At this point, it was clear that I needed Gustavo to remove the fan, certainly I couldn't, so that it could be returned and replaced. At this time, it is uncertain whether the fan was defective itself OR if Gustavo's installation was poorly done...but the bottom line is, listening to a grinding fan running is something no one would find acceptable....and most certainly for the exorbitant charge of $350! I have been contacting BK Electric for them to remove the fan since that time, nearly weekly and have met with a plethora of excuses of when they would come here to resolve this issue..."Gustavo has pneumonia", "We will tell Gustavo to call you", from Gustavo " I have to ask the office", "I'll be there Friday" then no show, "I'll be there Wednesday" then no show, "I'll have to ask the office again", most recently "I'll be there Friday" but when asked at what time, "Not sure what time yet". This has been going on since August of 2018, and today is December 26, 2018. This is far beyond unacceptable. I have also contacted Angie's List asking them how it is the this is a Certified provider, however there is no response to that. Angie's List directed me to leave a negative review. This coming Friday will be about the 10th appointment time that "Gustavo" has made with me to resolve this issue to remove the fan and replace it with another fan. Mind you, I've contacted Lowe's again, and was told that since it has been so many months, they will no longer provide me with a replacement fan. I purchased ANOTHER fan. In addition to the outrageous $350 fee I previously paid to BK Electric, I am now at a loss of another $150 for which I can not recover from Lowe's. I am writing this review in hope that BK Electric will finally resolve his issue this Friday. I have wasted MANY days waiting for Gustavo to show up, when he doesn't. If this matter is resolved, I will remove the review. If not, I will proceed with my next step to gain recovery. I will not remain in a hostage situation with a grinding ceiling fan for which I have no ability as a disabled senior to remove and replace. I've attached a few screen shots of records of my communication over these 4 months to provide an additional background to what has been happening with this grossly unprofessional company.

  • We've used Best Builders Group for two kitchen remodels. Highly skilled workers, great communication (Sophia is THE Best!), timely deadlines, and reasonable prices. Our second remodel was completed in just over three weeks and is just beautiful. We would use them again.

  • Perfection! This review has taken far too long for me to do as the job was finished in July but I wanted to take as much uninterrupted time to give this fantastic company and employees the credit they deserve. Yani Levi was the project manager while Michelle runs the office. Yani met us at my sister's home and the next day, he came to my home (30+ miles away from my sister's) with a complete bid by room and by job and they did not exceed budget by one penny! Both Yani and Michelle deserve extra kudos for their communication with me and my sister (whose home was being redone.) From Michelle, a weekly calendar was sent to both of us with payments due and when they were due accompanied by the schedule, by day, of what work would be done. We were under an extremely tight deadline as my sister was very unexpectedly widowed and we needed to get the job done in order to get renters into the extra bedrooms. They came in at budget, on time, and with several "extras" they threw in just to be kind, I believe. Despite a couple of inevitable bobbles, they were taken care of immediately and at no extra cost to us. Now my husband and I are looking to redo our three bathrooms and as soon as we can, I can guarantee that I'm hiring them and specifically asking that Yani be my project manager. This is in the top two all time fantastic service experiences I have had and I can assure you that you are dealing with exceptional people at Better Home Remodeling. To work with honest, forthright, and altogether, wonderful people during such a hard and emotional time made all the difference in the world. There are simply not words for me to A) recommend them highly enough and, B) really get across how fantastic the experience was through and through. I have found my new home remodeling company for sure. Yani and Michelle, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for being so kind to my sister and me during such a difficult time that still continues. BUT my sister has a brand new home, in essence, to come home to every day and she loves it so, so much. And I give every single ounce of credit to you and your amazing team of workers.

  • It went very well. The guys were prompt and very respectful of my home. They were careful where they had to drill into the ceiling so as not to hit a water line. Also they called a couple of days prior to confirm the appointment and let me know who would be doing the work.

  • I hired Green Universe Inc for a complete bathroom remodel and updates to the kitchen in my condo in Thousand Oaks, CA. After posting the proposal on homeadvisor.com, I received numerous phone calls and visits with promises of quotes within 24 hours. Of the 6 contractors that came to see my condo only Green Universe followed through with an excellent bid for the remodeling job. The work involved complete gutting and remodeling of the bathroom. Ozzie of Green Universe was very responsive to my requests and provided regular updates on the project. Ozzie and his team were able to complete the project in the promised time. Their work was excellent and Ozzie’s team demonstrate great attention to detail and ensured everything was completed without a need for rework. There only a few minor items on the punch list at the end of the project. I appreciated Ozzie’s professionalism and responsiveness. Most importantly, Green Universe provided a fair quote and a reasonable turn-around-time for my project. I am extremely happy with their work and would hire them again for any future remodeling projects.

  • Couldn't have gone better! Michael dealt with all the problems which arose during the installation with skill and grace. One of his workers accidently put his foot through my ceiling and Michael took care of that problem promptly. A major problem arose when my crazy home owners association complained about the ideal solar cell location being to visible and ugly. He relocated the whole system so that it was not visible with no additional cost to me. Lastly, one of the inverters was defective and was promptly replaced. I've since tried to recommend him to several people, but unfortunately, they didn't hire him. I'll keep trying.

  • Jerry's Family Air crew did an excellent job. They arrived on time and were professional and business like the whole time they were in our home. Curtis, the crew leader, came up with an innovative way of installing the coolant line which improved considerably on what we had originally planned. By 3PM the job was completed and our home was left spotless. It was a very good experience all the way around.

  • FANTASTIC! They were prompt, responsive, professional and polite. They kept me informed all along the way of the progress and status of the project. You cannot tell that they ever cut into my stucco. And even though they said that my cost did not include repainting the stucco to match the existing wall, they did that too! I will definitely call them back for any electrical needs.

  • From the start to the finish Dan was always available or on site to be sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We got a beautiful backyard and new decking around our pool. He had wonderful ideas that were well within our budget and we didn't have to lose all of our existing plants. He worked around everything that he could to create a new and beautiful backyard for us.I would recommend Day Tyson to anyone looking for quality work and an affordable price. The subcontractors that work with him are amazing as well.

  • I had the Angie's list deal of $89 for 2 man hours of electrical work. We didn't have the supplies at site so when they got here they quoted us a price of $360 to put the outlet in. I asked if that took into account the labor we already paid for. He said yes. They were already here, my husband said yes do the work. I asked for an itemized invoice when they were done. An email was sent to us just stating $360 for the job charged, no itemization. They took less than an hour to complete the job. They did a great job and were very nice, but beware of upcharging and not getting the angie's list deal. Since there were 2 electricians, and one was doing the outlet, I did have one of them install an indoor switch for me which I already had. Took him 15 minutes while the other one did the outlet. so total cost was $89 plus $360= $449 FYI-also they don't work on low voltage i.e.. nest thermostats.
