  • We hired SLOmow for mastication work before fire season on our 20 acre property on a steep hill in N. County. We were very pleased with the operator who drove up with some serious heavy equipment to masticate and remove dead almond trees, brush, removal of dead tree stumps. I also needed to relocate a 15 year old fruitless mulberry tree, and push back 10+ ft. of the mountain side to create a larger backyard space. I was confident in leaving the operator as I ran errands and when I returned, I was impressed with the amount of work that he completely in such a short amount of time. He is truly a hard worker and skilled operator with years of trusted experience. I recommend Robert and SLOmow for all of your mastication and contractor needs. (805) 439.0911

  • We had a team of 6 college athletes move our household. They were cheerful and seemed to use the move as a workout. We bought them all lunch from Mr. Pickles and paid them each an extra $20. It cost $1900 to move 1.5 miles. We moved the small stuff and they moved the heavy big stuff. We are a family of 6, 4 bedrooms, grand piano.

  • Madrone is excellent at design (but it is expensive). The actual bids to implement came in so much higher than other bids....and honestly there is no reasonable reason as to why they charge so much for plants etc. I went on line and priced the same plants and other landscape material and they seemed to up-charge by at least 40%. My advice, hire them for design and shop the work elsewhere...

  • Phil and Paul treated us great. I wanted Mitsubishi mini-splits and my wife was skeptical. Phil showed her the units involved and we are very glad to be free of the gross, leaky, 35 year old ducts in this house. They did two installations for granny unit and main house...about 3500 sq ft.

  • ob went flawlessly.  Equipment arrived on site clean and in working order  (tractor with gannon box, full blade, then back hoe attachment, 3 to 5 ton vibrating roller, and water trailer with hose and pump).  DG and sand tractor/trailers arrived at specified time.  (Drivers were experienced and careful around our property). Work performed was exactly as specified on Job Proposal.  Contractor Ed Madruga ran into difficulty with sub-terranium rock when excavating for footings, but did not amend his Proposal (upward) to reflect the extended work effort.  Quality of work was outstanding.  One had the distinct feeling that Ed would have done that kind of work if he were grading property for his own family.Site was left clean and orderly at the end of each day.  We were supplied with both his phone number and his email address for concerns, questions, etc.

  • I was not explicite enough well to explain the general cleaning.  Part of it was to organize some areas , which took the extra time away. Basically in the living room
My living room was vacuumed partly. I had said the day before I did do some vacumming.  however I needed more vacuuming done. I have one corner to be done in the dining area and living room.  I cannot move things to vacuum.  Next time I will have it written out better so there won't be confusion.  We did talk before they left.  I will be going on around March 21 to go back east for a couple of weeks. and not have them at the end of March.
They said maybe I could just get 2 hours and 1 person to come back.  I can ask to arrange it after I come back.
I will need to make a list  the next time around.  They both worked very well and were cleaning all the time for 3 hours.
Thank you for your help and understanding.

  • We are very pleased with Phil and his crew at SLOCO.  A year and a half ago we met with him about HVAC for an addition we were putting on our house.  He sells many different kind of systems, but we decided that the Mitsubishi mini-split system fit our house well.  We get over 100 degrees in the Summer and in the 20's in the Winter on occasion and the systems have been able to keep up with both the heating and cooling just fine.
When we started to remodel the main house, Phil had originally suggested a significantly expensive, but very efficient propane-fired furnace.  After an energy audit (suggested by him,) he realized that the improvements were going to significantly reduce the size of system we needed and sold us a mini-split system that saved us about 40%.  COnsidering that we are on solar now, that 40% savings is compounded by the propane savings of about $1200/year.
I only gave a "B" on punctuality because a guy had to run out for parts or something once and I'm worried that the review won't be considered trustworthy if I gave all A's.
We've been in over two years of remodel h*** and I have a long list of sub-contractors I intend to character assassinate on Angie's List later, but I wanted to publish  the best reviews first:
Phil has been great to work with, saved us money, and I would unreservedly recommend him and SLOCO.

  • Their price was good, service and advice was great - good people to deal with.  They were recommended by my contractor.  They cut a garage door down to size to fit our 6' opening in a workshop so I can roll the lawn tractor and other garden equipment into the shop and change the oil, service, etc.
They were a little busy, but on time and on budget.  When we upgrade the doors on our 4 car garage I will use them again.

  • I spent considerable time narrowing down local roofers via reviews and whether or not they were roofing contractors.  I had probably eight different companies come out and give me estimates.  I narrowed it down to three different companies then looked at the thoroughness of their estimates, the timetable of their estimates, whether or not they were trying to upsell their services, whether or not they guaranteed their work, and the price of the work to be done.
Eric Bean came out on top!
The first thing he told me was not to let someone try to talk me into an entirely new roof.  He then pointed out the reason behind my leaks and detailed what he would do to fix them.  I was able to set up an appointment for him to come out (the threat of El Nino is keeping him busy), and he and his crew were right on time (which is something I highly value is business people).
Eric was on site for the project ......... both working on my roof as well as overseeing his crew.  He and his crew worked HARD the entire time they were at my home; doing the work, cleaning up after themselves, and doing detail work on my roof that was unexpected.
Because I had done so much research, I expected a good experience with Eric and his crew, but it was actually better than I'd hoped!  They take immense pride in their work, and it showed.  I would certainly refer them (and I will) to anyone who needs roofing work to be done.

  • They did a phenomenal job! I was inpressed from the the first visit when they came to give us an estimate. Chip was incredibly professional and had extensive knowledge of of of the many trees on our property. He made money saving suggestions which we really appreciated. They were punctual, professional and thorough. They chipped up all of the limbs and placed them in a convenient location for us to use as mulch. Great Company! I would highly recommend .
