    Rail City Garden Center
Last July I had bought two fruited mulberry trees from Rail City and paid to have them delivered and installed. First, I called Rail City to see if they had any fruited mulberry trees. I was told they did not. I ran into a former employee at another nursery and he told me to go to the back and look because the owner doesn't keep inventory and they have no clue what they have. Low and behold, I did what he told me and I found three fruited mulberry trees. So, I bought two of them and paid to have them delivered and installed. The guys came out, planted and staked the trees as per the written agreement that came with the trees. One tree made it through the winter. The other did not. I went to Rail City on 06/14/2020 to talk to them about replacing the tree and was told I would get a call this morning. Well (06/15/2020) about ten minutes ago a lady named Cindy called. She states that Pawl says that there was no drip system installed so therefore they are not going to honor their warranty. Nowhere in the papers that I signed for delivery and install did it say I had to have a drip system. No one told me that I had to have a drip system installed when I bought the trees and the guys installing did not say I had to have a drip system installed. Cindy admitted that there was NOTHING in writing in the contract that said I had to have a drip system installed. I have bought multiple trees at this nursery over the years and NO ONE has ever told me that I had to have a drip system installed. I have brought trees back myself in the past with receipt and there have never been any questions as to whether or not I had a drip system installed. I have multiple trees on my property with no drip installed to any of them and many have been here for over 20 years without a drip system. Rail City, you can and should be doing better than this. Your own employee admitted there was NOTHING in my written contract that said I had to have a drip system. Poor business practice all the way around. I would not hire this company and beware of purchasing from them.

Andy has been my gardener for at least 10 years.  He is honest, reliable, efficient, and an expert gardener.  I also like that he provides estimates before any project work is done.

The owner, Pawl Hollis is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to answering our gardening questions. Each year he and his staff have helped us with what vegetation to plant in our dry, desert climate;  when is the best time to prune bushes & trees and what products to use to cut down on pests in the garden.  They're friendly and stand behind what they sell.  We'll keep going back.

I can only remark on my experience in visiting the retail store, which was altogether positive.  Based on the landscaping there and the pictures of their projects, I'd certainly consider them if I wanted to hire someone for a landscaping project. If you have a dog, better leave it home.  The resident cat is very nice but it is known to attack dogs.

We are really happy we hired Dry Creek to do our front yard.  We had been wanting to do a xeric landscape and we also needed to replace our old cracked cement driveway.  We had just had a baby and were still sleep deprived and we needed somebody that could come in, do a design for us, and then follow through with it without us hovering and making sure that everything was being done right.  Dry Creek Garden Company followed through on every level for us.  It started out with an initial consultation where John talked to us about what kinds of things we liked and might want in a new landscape and also about what we didn't like.  John drew up plans which we ended up liking and went forward with only a few very minor changes.  The plans called for a paver drivway, walkway with a patio, and 2 raised beds with rock walls separated by an area of decomposed granite and xeric plants. The work took about two weeks to complete. They worked hard.  It was November and they were trying to make sure they got it done before any snow fell.  Most of the time was spent on the pavers.  They did a great job.  They were careful about making sure the slope drained away from my garage, and they did a very meticulous job with the border where there were a number of curves and getting the pattern right (it was a three paver size herringbone pattern that was a bit confusing).  The landscaping part came next where they put in the rock wall and built a raised bed next to the walkway.  They put in two zones of drip lines in (mostly using the existing sprinkler system and converting it.)  The last part was the planting of the plants.I waited to write a review until now because it has taken a while for the plants to grow.  It was a stark looking yard for a little while.  Now that the plants are growing, we absolutely love it.   All summer now there has been some plant flowering and something new to look at.  We had a couple of casualties over the winter, plants that just never grew, but Dry Creek replaced those.  We have had a lot of people compliment us on our yard.  I can say that we had a great experience with Dry Creek and would definitely hire them again.

    Moana Nursery
Very helpful! The manager walked around the entire nursery with me and advised which plants would work best together and the best way to plant them. This was probably the fourth time we had been there to get more plants for my wedding reception in the back yard. The manager herself was willing to try and find plants to match ones we already had in the yard using blurry iphone pictures i had taken, and loaded them into my car, which wasn't easy. (I should have brought a truck). But they worked willingly and confidently without a complaint! very impressed! We have been going there for years and they have always been welcoming which is why we trusted them with such an important event.

John, the designer was very thorough and listened to my suggestions. The workers were great and the entire project only took one week.

    Truckee River Landscape Company
When ordering, I asked that one yard of planter mix be loaded so it would dump last. Was told they would try but couldn't guarantee that the two products wouldn't mix. I requested a 10.00am delivery and was told should and quot;not be a problemand quot;. Received a call at 11am on delivery day, saying the and quot;ownerand quot; wanted me to drive down and sign something saying they couldn't guarantee that the delivery wouldn't result in and quot;mixed productsand quot;. They do not have a and quot;separatorand quot; to isolate different products although their delivery truck could be readily/cheaply fitted to do so. If you need small quantities of product (a yard or less of two products), plan on paying for 2 deliveries. I opted not to drive there again. Requested them to refund payment for 1 yard of wood chips and deliver the planter mix; which they did. They said my and quot;delivery was on its wayand quot;--I am located about 6 miles from their facility. The delivery showed up at noon--2 full hours past the requested time. Their normal driver wasn't there and the and quot;loaderand quot; was directed to keep filling and quot;drive-upand quot; orders before making the scheduled deliveries. I may or may not use this company again--depends solely on the quantity and type of product needed. I used this company several times--people are nice, landscaping materials are a decent quality and generally, reasonably priced. Deliveries have always been 1-2 hours past the scheduled delivery time.
