Home Child Care reviews in Sylmar

Given that my children had only been in child care facilities I was a little reluctant to switch to a at home daycare, but when I had my newborn I wanted him to have a little more personalized attention like he would get from me or his grandmother. I was really impressed with Perera and how clean she has it and how professional it all seemed. Even though it is at her home you feel like you are dropping your child off at a center. The quality of the room that she provides the children is the same quality that I find at the facilities.  My son is an infant, so I know what he will learn right now is limited, but I am excited about what she will try and teach him when he gets a little older. Obviously if I didn't have that comfort I wouldn't be leaving my infant there. The pricing is excellent. Very reasonable.

Update: My son attended this daycare for 3 weeks but was "expelled" so to speak when he was diagnosed with mild form of a breathing condition called laryngomalacia. Although I understood Ms. Perera's reluctance to care for my son it seemed that she attributed every ailment he had (gas, inability to sleep with lots of noise etc.) to his condition. I updated her daily on what my son's doctor said and let her know I was able and willing to discuss anything should you need to. And although I fully understood why she could no longer care for him due to liability issues, I DID NOT appreciate how she handled it. She literally called me in the middle of my workday and basically told me to come early and so we could "talk". I arrived and my 2 month old was screaming in his playpen and she waved her arm towards him and said "he's been like this all morning and only calms down when I hold him." I went to pick him up and he stopped but burped and passed gas almost immediately, and he stopped crying. There was no talking, I was told she couldn't watch him anymore and would I like to take his stuff now or pick it up after work. I wasn't even given any form of notice so that I could procure other care for him therefore I had to bring my 2 month old to work with me for the rest of the day. Once in my care at my office he was fed by my co-worker, burped, changed and put down on my office floor for a 2 hour nap. I believe yes he was having a hard time but all babies have these days. I think it was easier for her to blame his condition and dismiss the daily/normal ailments that babies have. Luckily I have family who are able to care for him until I can find something more suitable for him. Although I still stand by my above review of the home's condition, I have to retract my comment on her professionalism. I got the sense she never really connected to my son and quite frankly as if she was overwhelmed at times with all the children in her care. She does have an assistant who is very kind and seems to do all the hands on work with the children.
