    Pro Appliance Installation
The installers were very kind and knowledgeable. Kevin saved my kitchen because I had bad experiences with several other installers. They know much more about appliances than the 4 other installers that I tried to hire and Kevin fixed many things that the previous installers did wrong. Three months ago, I ordered a full set of new, high-end kitchen appliances from a showroom in San Jose. I was excited, but my contractor warned me that it is very difficult to find good appliance installers in the bay area and now I understand exactly why he said that. I first used an installer that the store recommended (NOT Pro Appliance), but they didn't install a single appliance correctly. The dishwasher was overflowing, they couldn't figure out how to connect the water line to the fridge, and they installed two appliances in a way that is an electrical hazard, which voided the warranty on my very expensive appliances! The next 3 installers were no better. One of them told me I had the wrong breaker (30A instead of 50A), which was not true. Another one told me that he could not fix the issues. I had a representative from the manufacturer come to check my appliances and he told me that, not only were the appliances installed incorrectly, but this happens all the time because most of the appliance installers in the bay area are incompetent! After three months, I spent a total of about 40 hours making phone calls, taking time off to wait for installers to come within the standard 4-6 hour time slot, asking friends for recommendations, etc. Don't waste your time with other installers, like I did. Save yourself the headache, time, and money to hire the one installer that really knows what they're doing. When Kevin and his team came to my house, they quickly made several changes to my electrical wiring, installed the appliances correctly, they answered all my questions, and even cleaned up some of the packing material that the previous installers hadn't removed properly. When they finished installing those two appliances, they checked the installation of all of my other appliances too. They leveled my dishwasher, replaced the kick plate (which was installed backwards by the previous installer), and fixed the range hood (which was bent by the previous installer). They even explained to me why some appliances are better made than others. If I could do everything over again, I would call Pro Appliance before I even make a purchase, get recommendations from them on which appliances are best, and then have them installed correctly the first time. I am so grateful that I finally found a competent and gracious installer! Thank you, Pro Appliance!

I called Don at GSAR because my 2 year-old LG refrigerator was making a terrible humming noise.  Don arrived promptly and immediately diagnosed the problem-the freezer door wasn't shut all the way and was causing the fan to malfunction.  Don then explained that this is a common issue with this refrigerator and told me how to avoid this issue in the future.  He then told me that if the problem returned to call him and he'd come out again for free!  While he was there I asked him to look at our gas stove and the two burners that weren't lighting.  He quickly assessed the broken igniter and then told me how to get replacements on Amazon and install them myself-easy!
All in all, I learned a lot from Don (as did my 14 year old son, who is not easily impressed!) and now feel more confident that I can keep my appliances in good running order.
Don went above and beyond my expectations and I'd use him again in a heartbeat.

Almeida & Son Painting & Construction Inc
I very highly recommend Dennis Almeida. He is the real deal. It was one of the best decisions that I have made and I'm extremely happy with the work he had done. We got a quote for 4 different contractors and picked Dennis for a number of reasons. First, he really understood what we wanted and communicated extremely well. Second, his price was comparable to the other 3 guys and was very reasonable. Third his reputation on Angie's List. Dennis did a lot of work as listed above. He and crew did everything in about 2 weeks before we moved into our new home. After the work was done, we had several people remark how awesome the job was. Here's what worked very well for us:
    1. Professionalism - Dennis' professionalism stood out amongst the other contractors that we interviewed and got the quotes from. He was punctual, pleasant, and communicated well. He took our ideas down, had a computer modeling done to help us visualize, suggested some great ideas himself, and helped out with the project.
    2. Super-responsive - During the 2 weeks when Dennis was here, he was always available over email or phone. I would go to Home Depot and would have a question about the type of stuff that I need to be picking up. Within minutes he would respond back with a text or an email or a phone call. At the end of the day, he gave an update of all the work done and keep us posted.
    3. Great crew - Dennis has been working with his crew Douglas, Homer, and Angel for about 5 years. They worked hard and got the whole thing done in 2 weeks. I have heard horror stories from my friends how they had to chase down their contractors to wrap up work. Not with Dennis. He was there every single day very early in the morning, got a lot of work done during a typical day, and gave an update at the end of the day. We didn't have to check in on the home everyday. It was all magically getting done without any supervision needed on our part. Can't tell you how much we appreciated this piece of mind.
    4. Personality - It was fun to work with Dennis and he was a nice guy with a good sense of humor and a lot of patience. Being new home owners, we didn't know a lot of things and we were also going back and forth on a few things - paint color, etc. Dennis was extremely accommodating and pleasant throughout.
    5. Quality of work - It was awesome! We were so happy with the work and just sat there for a long time admiring everything when it was all done. Everyone who saw our home were impressed by the quality of work. I'll post  an update with a before and an after picture soon.
    6. Went above and beyond: My wife wanted a kitchen nook and she had some pictures from a DIY project found online. All we had to do was buy the materials and Dennis and Angel put it all together. He didn't charge us for the additional work and  I thought it was a nice gesture.
In a nutshell - if you are looking for a contractor, definitely hire Dennis. It would be one of the best decisions you would have made. He checks on everything - professionalism, cost, quality of work, responsiveness, and he was also a single source for all the work that needed to be done.

    Cool Kat Appliance Repair
Everything went flawlessly from our perspective.  Mike was great to deal with, extremely prompt, and very professional.  In fact we plan to call him tomorrow for another appliance problem which just has arisen in another rental home.

He is an exceptionally good service provider.

My Maytag washer was unable to drain. The repair window was 8-12, and the repairman came at 1:00. He opened the washer and saw a sock stuck in the tub. He had never worked on this model of washer, so he refused to go any further. We rescheduled for two days later so someone who knew this washer could come. I was given a morning appointment again. This time I called and asked where I was in the line and I was #8, so I kept expectations low. Around 7 PM (7 hours after the end of the window!) the repairman called to let me know they had scheduled THE SAME GUY who didn't know how to fix my washer. I called A&E and asked for a manager to call me back the next morning. None did. I'm done with them.

Garying was quick to diagnose and performed the work quickly. He even helped clean up the lints /dirts accumulated behind the dryer and hooked up the exhaust hose upon completing the work. All the work was done very quickly within 30 minutes and completed without any problem. Would hire him again.

Although this project was not a disaster, the quality of Philip's work was disappointing. The cabinetry (a very simple job with just two trimmed panels) looked like a 6th grade shop project. There is a crooked splice in the middle of EVERY span of molding - and no span is more than 3 feet long! I suspect he spliced extensively to make up for inability to miter properly. The damper and an additional cover on the Vent-a-Hood did not get installed. I found the cover in the packaging in my garage, but suspect he discarded the damper. (He also discarded all the manuals and installation guides). I ordered a replacement and he promised several times to come out and install it, never doing so. On the plus side, my job was rather small and it was not easy to find people to take on a $1200 project when they could be doing a $60,000 new kitchen in Los Altos. Hint: The best contractors take the $60,000 jobs and leave the small fiddly jobs for people like Philip.
