    M&M Construction & Home Design
We had to repair a serious water damage in the house that affected the kitchen bottom cabinets. Eli and Moran were very easy to work with and had come up with a very affordable solution. We couldn't be happier. working with the insurance wasn't easy but these guys worked really hard to bring everything back together in no time, right before the holiday season. We can't thank you enough guys, thank you very much and happy halloween!!!

    Evolve Construction
The team was very professional and communicative, they did everything on
time and passed all inspections. We asked to add a few more items to
the work while the project was running and they responded and did the
necessary adjustments very quickly and for I think was a very fair
price. I will recommend them to my friends and to anyone that is looking
for a reliable contractor. Good job.

    Evolve Construction
They're extremely professional, trustworthy, and reliable and we had such an amazing experience working with them. The work they delivered was quality and we were thrilled with the results. We would recommend Evolve Construction to anyone considering having work done to their home and are already planning our next project with them (kitchen and dinning area) Thank you!

    Arcbazar Inc
As I was reviewing the service I noticed that the responses did not include any kind of structural plans other than floorplans.
This might be to provide security for the design (which is ok) but in my case I know mostly what I want; but I need the plans and engineering calcs to flush out what I need to do.
I first tried their live chat and after waiting quite a while with no indication that anyone was listening I tried to call them which just led to a automated phone system and a voicemail. I left a voicemail and if they call me back I will update this review.
I'd rather not waste my time if all they provide is general design rather than architectural plans.

    M&M Construction & Home Design
    A BIG job well done!
We highly recommend M&M Construction to anyone that's looking for a dependable and honest contractor.
It was 14x24 addition in the lower level which included a full bath, utility and sauna room.
We interviewed five contractors, Eli's quote came right in the middle.
With everything looking positive we decided to hire M&M construction.

Through the renovation, everybody at M&M knew how to make things run smoothly, organized and keeping the work site clean and safe for our family, Eli and his crew were very considerate, patient and carrying just about everything.
We have lost almost two week due to some complications, but Eli and the crew still managed to complete the project on time as promised.

We are very happy and satisfied customers.

T LY VAN AIA & ASSOC
Initial quoted $4500, but negotiated down to $4000.  After design is done, she hold the drawings and asked for $500 more.  Light switches were placed in the middle of the wall not next to door.  Drawings were not detailed and she was not willing to answer questions.  Promised to finish design in 4 weeks, but was late and took 8 weeks.

    Critchfield Construction, Inc.
We would strongly recommend AGAINST working with Critchfield. I should point out that they have a sister company, Los Gatos Remodeler, which will become relevant in the points below.

    1. They created a Google calendar, which was great, and kept it up to date ? until the last few months when things really slowed down. Then they stopped updating the calendar, stopped responding to our emails in a timely fashion, and then suddenly deleted the calendar. Then they moved to an in-house calendar system which held the data on their sister site, including messages, rather than previously allowing us direct email.

    2. In the beginning they asked for payment as reasonable times, such as when 50% or 100% of certain trades or portions of the house were complete, per the contract payment schedule. However, near the last third of the project, they started requesting payments too early, e.g., the remaining half of the flooring payment even though flooring was nowhere near complete.

    3. The contract had a penalty clause whereby they?d pay us for additional time they took to complete our project. They requested a change order to extend the period to avoid the penalty, despite the fact that most of the delays were their fault, and threatened to stop work if we didn?t sign to agree to such a change order. This seemed like a breach of contract.

    4. Very slow to haul away large piles of debris.

    5. Example A of avoidable mistakes: Installed the shower pan incorrectly. This confused so many subcontractors (the plumber, drywall installers, shower installers as well as the tile installer), that it caused yet more delays.

    6. Example B of avoidable mistakes: Not leveling the kitchen subfloor, a requirement for the material we chose, even after several inquiries. The flooring installer showed up with the materials he had ordered for us, but had to leave because the subfloor had NOT BEEN FIXED. He was frustrated to the point where he asked us whether or not he was supposed to do the work. (We told him yes, and once again repeated the cycle of requesting the subfloor work from Critchfield and rescheduling the floor subcontractor.)

    7. Bad-mouthing other contractors. We asked about going with a different roofer, and they ?advised? us not to use them because of apparent issues with not having a valid license, and supposedly being in and out of business. We checked the records at the Contractors State Licensing Board, and found that the roofer had valid licenses and bonding. In addition, we had excellent references from both Angie?s List and friends who worked with them ? contrary to what the people at Critchfield claimed. Spreading rumors and lies is downright unprofessional.

    8. The owner Ricky Critchfield never visited our site ? until we needed to resolve points (2) and (3). Then he came over, and we negotiated: he honored what was agreed upon over email, didn?t delay construction any further, and gave us some credit for the time-over-projected-schedule. But wow, to have to wait that long (the project was 85% to 90% done at that point) to actually show up at our house merely exhibited where his priorities were not.

    9. The stucco work by men hired by Critchfield failed to match the existing stucco style. They also dumped excess concrete into holes in our garden, rather than hauling it off.

    10. The handymen Critchfield hired utterly failed to install the oven. We ended up doing that ourselves.

    Gridley Company
Let me start by saying we are probably the worst kind of clients, cheap and always scrutinizing what is said and the work that has been done. This was also our first construction project so we were not aware of the process. We found Gridley Co. online. We really had no intention of hiring them until we met them. Linda is wonderful! She was very warm and sincere. We were extremely cautious about hiring just anyone because of all of the horror stories that we have heard about contractors. It took a while to get the plans drawn up and approved but we had plenty of time and we were aiming for summer time construction. It took a while to get used to the way they work. They work as a team. Each person is responsible for their area of expertise and they try very hard keep that structure. We started construction and demo went fairly quickly. Unfortunately the cost of lumber went up significantly by the time we started. Most companies would have adjusted their quote, but Gridley Co. stuck to their original quote. The rest of the project took a little longer than expected but we had several of obstacles that came up. Their employees are the best of the best. They are people that really want to do the right thing for their clients. Robyn, their electrician is incredible. (She NEVER cuts corners and is very quick) We always felt comfortable leaving them alone in our house. In the end, they gave my kids wonderful new bedrooms, a living room we can all be comfortable in, and a sense of knowing the job was done right. We have had countless compliments on the house. We plan on having a relationship with them for a long time if they can stand us.

    ADG DESIGN GROUP
Greg listened to our many requirements and put them together into a well crafted home design. We were working under several conflicting design and budget constraints and went through many iterations but Greg handled it well. There was an issue that arose about who?s financial responsibility it was when the planning department didn?t initially approve the plans, but Greg handled the who thing very professionally and we worked out a mutually acceptable compromise. It is just as important to note that after our design was done, permits were issued, and long after ADG was completely paid, Greg was very responsive during the construction phase of the project. This is very important because delays that occur during construction can result in costs which are far greater than what you might spend on a designer. Several times, problems arose which required his expertise and Greg immediately followed through with phone calls to the contractor, inspector, or homeowner to quickly resolve the issue to keep the project from getting stuck in the quagmire of costly delays.

    Alice Y Hwang
She is very professional and very service oriented. She is very accommodating for our schedule. Her time is very flexible and she is always available to me. She is very good and she does very good follow up. Once the permission is got, she follows up on it. It's an excellent company. The pricing was very good. I will be using her services again in the future.
