    Build For You
I bought a big deal on Angie's List from Build for You to install 50 ft of gutters.  I filled out the possible dates to get the job done.  Build for You responded stating that they needed my phone number to set up a date.  I provided the phone number.  A week later no one had called so I called Build for You and left a message.  I got no response.  A week later I called again and still no response. I contacted Angie's List and they said they would contact Build for You. Reps from Angie's list contacted me and said that they had spoken to Build for You and that they had given them my information and that they would be calling me.  Build for You has not called me yet and it has been over 2 months since I paid for their services.

After visually assessing our needs it turned out we needed much more linear footage than we'd originally purchased.  Once we expressed this additional need to David they made certain the additional footage was installed that same day!  Would highly recommend this company and working with David.

    Inception Home Remodeling
Eyal and Inception Home Remodeling replaced all the rotted eaves, facia boards and gutters around the front of my house.  He was professional, arrived on time, was considerate in using materials I already had to save money, and never replaced anything that didn't need replacing.  The crews he provided were the hardest working I have ever seen, and always cleaned up when they were done.  Eyal himself was always available for questions I had, calling me back within minutes.  I am planning to use his company again for the long list of remodeling projects I have for my house.  Definitely an "A" rating.

    Brothers Sheetmetal
This was the first company I used since subscribing to Angie's List and it couldn't have gone better.
Ralph showed up on on time, looked at the job made some suggestion's and came up with a price that I thought was very fair.
His crew showed up on time and did the work quickly and very professionally.  I was very pleased  when they were  done.
If every company I hire is as good as this one I'll be very happy.

I contacted Ralph after seeing the reviews on Angie's List and was not disappointed.  The job started with a consultation to determine how to best repair a poorly performing rain gutter system by a different installer from several years ago.  On one side of the house, the gutter had become detached.  On another side, the pitch was wrong and the gutters were leaking over the edge.  All around the gutters were poorly installed - not properly inclined/level and so they weren't catching much of the water at all.  Setting up the initial appointment was easy and I dealt directly with Ralph.  He called the morning of our initial appointment to reschedule due to a rush job and cross-town traffic, which I found great service.  As we walked around the house, it was apparent that he was knowledgeable and honest about what he could and could not do, and where it it made sense to use the existing materials versus requiring new materials and a complete redo.  He pointed out where the previous installer had taken short cuts and what had led to the problems I was having with the gutters.  We settled on the particulars of what needed to be estimated and he left.  I felt that I was on a good path with Ralph.  He was easy to talk to, and knew his stuff.  Over the next couple of weeks, we settled on the estimate, and the particulars of the job (colors, materials, options, etc), and picked an installation date.  Ralph's honesty and integrity came through during this process, and he even suggested to me getting bids from other installers to ensure I was comfortable with his bid.  The evening before the installation, Ralph called to confirm the appointment (he didn't get a hold of me, but he came on schedule and on time).  He walked through the job with me, and his crew, and we talked about a few minor clarifications and delta-pricing (which he was very giving on).  He left, and left his crew of 2 to do the job.  They worked diligently through out the day and got the job done on time and expertly.  At the end of the day, his lead crew man walked me through what they had done and answered my questions.  I happily paid the remainder of the bill.  It has yet to rain, but I could see the crew had tested the work they had done with a hose.  I expect to have no problems with the work and expect to call Ralph when we install some rain barrels.

    Crescenta Rain Gutters
It went very well. Owner was prompt and friendly and informative on the options available and helped us select. He also worked to help us stay within our budget. He also referred us to a local painter who did a good job for a reasonable price to paint the gutters to match the building. A few years ago, I had had another company put rain gutters on another building and crescenta had by far, a higher quality installation for about the same price. The ONLY complaint would have was that the installer left a little shard of sheet metal snipped off a gutter on the air conditioner fan. I was able to remove it with a magnetic tool. Other than that, the installation went very well and I can recommend this company highly.

    Brothers Sheetmetal
Pretty straight-forward. They emailed me a quote a couple days after initial call. I remembered needing leaf guards, so Ralph made another visit to measure and give me a figure. New proposal drawn up via email. He scheduled me for work a week or so later, a Friday morning. I met the crew, gave them a check and left for work. New gutters were there when I got home :) Pretty clean install, seamless sheet metal. If any gripes, they could have tidied up a bit more after, but it seems par for the course with any contractor that there be bits and pieces here and there. Am looking forward to the rain.

    PRESTIGIOUS RAINGUTTERS
Steve, one of the owners, did the estimate. He was professional, knowledgeable and we liked him. He has 30 or so years in sheet metal. Business is a bit slow and he gave us a good bid. The company had good AL reports including one POH. After we hired them, they scheduled the very next day. So far, so good. Installer Jose and another fellow arrived about a half hour late, but no big deal about that for me. HOWEVER...once they got started, the quality of the workmanship was TERRIBLE! After several hours of them working, I walked around the house and found much that was unacceptable. For instance: 1. They put a seam in one of the gutters, but these are supposed to be SEAMLESS gutters. 2. Two of the downspouts were installed way out-of-plumb. The worst was 6" out along a 7 foot length! Didn't they notice? 3. One of the leader heads was installed about 3" too low, which looked bad and would reduce its effectiveness. 4. In one 20' section, they split two rafter tails with the gutter spikes, leaving only one gutter spike well attached holding up the entire section. 5. They literally crammed 3 of the round downspouts into rectangular drainpipe adapters, rather than getting the round adapters Steve had talked about. I informed Jose of the things that were unacceptable, and he was polite and did not argue. He said they would replace the section of gutter and fix the downspouts, and anything else I had. I also called Lars about it, who is the dispatcher or maybe another owner. The next morning, before they arrived, I walked around the house and compiled a list of corrections, 11 items long and faxed it to Lars. He called back and said I should go over the list with Jose when he arrived. Another thing: Jose's assistant was constantly on the roof, right on the edge, leaning over working on the gutter. Not only is it unsafe, but it risks breaking the roof tiles on our 1929 Spanish style house. I haven't checked for any broken tiles yet, but during the estimate, Steve assured me the installers would only be on the roof briefly for about 10 minutes at at time in two areas only. Jose was very nice and fixed everything I asked for. He knew how to level up the downspouts when I asked him to, so why didn't he put them up straight to begin with? I asked Lars for some downspout leaf strainers, which they provided at an additional charge, which is fine, but if I were Lars, I would have thrown them in to try to mollify an obviously unsatisfied customer. They did leave a couple of cans of touch up paint, at my request. Final note: After they left, the job site was strewn with hand fulls of shards of snipped-off rain gutter, and sharp screws. Good thing we don't have a toddler around! If I were Steve and Lars, I would ensure Jose was better trained, and/or I would stop by the job site to monitor quality. The customer should not have to be the quality control section for this company to the degree I was for this job.
